Much better structure, better, coherent macro plot. Cassian shooting two cops led to him meeting Luthen, which led to him going to Aldhani, Aldhani led to PORD and him getting arrested, which led to Narkina 5, and all of it led back to Ferrix and its local rebellion - which led to Cassian becoming a Rebel Operative. Everything mattered, everything was interconnected. Every arc had a masterful buildup and pay-off on its own, but also being a part of the bigger whole. Show could have ended there, easily. It was a complete story.

Season 2 was just random irrelevant shit, the first arc literally didn't fucking mattered, then the Ghorman shit, and Rogue One promo. Shit happening off-screen, time skips, overall sloppy writing. It had its moments, the massacre in particular, but it was mediocre. Still better than the rest of Disney shit, but it's good only in comparison. On it's own? Not very much. Also, the lack of Nicholas Britell was really noticeable.

Everyone is thinking about this wrong. The show should have just been 2 seasons. But it shouldn't have really "lead" anywhere. Like it should've just been Andor doing cool spy shit and then he has a modest resolution (maybe finds sister, she's dead). And he walks off into the sunset. All of this beginning and ending years before the battle of Yavin is even on the horizon.

The ground assault on Endor is the only weak part of the film. Granted that's not a small part of the movie, and the second Death Star seemed a bit convenient which has only got worse every time they bring it back. But the first half and the entirety of the Emperor, Vader and Luke is kino.

One of the main things I wanted from this series was to watch Andor in his journey to join the rebellion and how he became that ruthless spy at the beginning of Rogue One. We only got bit and pieces of it, in those tense moments where Andor shot without hesitation.

I do think 5 seasons could have worked with the idea of leading up to Rogue One. Hell, how they formatted it as it stands it could have worked. Gilroy just focused on too many of the wrong things. The focus on Bix, Mothma's family, the 2 episodes worth that those rebels took up. Ghorman did not need 6 episodes dedicated to it. They could have done it but the focus was all wrong.

The show failed to show it, but Ghorman was a massacre. Multiple thousands of innocent Imperial citizens were murdered, not just the couple hundred protesting in the plaza. Rooting out a few dozen foreign bad actors and having them sent to the gulag is very different to unwittingly setting up a false flag operation to decimate an entire population. You can argue that he was naive, but that's kinda the point. Blind loyalty.

The point is that the Syril/Dedra plot doesn't fit at all. the characterisation is all over the place, because just like with GOT they used several directors and writers instead of assigning one to one character arc to keep continuity

I admit that I enjoyed Andor now in its second season while absolutely hating the first one. and some episodes were really well done, but there was no cohesive overall plot or characterisations besides Cassian. One episode Dedra is Partagaz prodigy, next episode he betrays her with big eyes dark hair. One episode Luthen goes to extreme lengths protecting his informants, next episode he kills Lonni. One episode Syril and Dedra are close knit, next episode they don't give a fuck about each other and the next one she doesn't even remember him, nor is his death mentioned by her peers or turned into a revenge plot that leads to her downfall. It is glaringly obvious that this season went through endless rewrites and had no round table discussion about the overarching plot and to sew it seemlessly together. As standalone, the episodes are great, really great. together, absolutely not.

There's something seriously wrong with this season and it a year's time all of you guys swept up in the excitement will have changed your tune.

I like there is no inherent focal point in Andor. This is what SW sorely lacks, world building outside of lightsabers and jedis. We get to see aspects of what makes the universe ticks and what pushes the galaxy towards a rebellion. I personally few each 3 episode arc as an episodic movie with ties to the greater story, no different from how procedural shows are shot.
