he’s definitely not a “can disappear into any role” kind of actor but people who claim he can’t act are also wrong. he’s really good maybe even great in things like Shattered Glass. sociopaths seem to be the character he excels at playing and they should consider him for more such roles. he would have been great in Nightcrawler. i could see him playing a main character in a season of Fargo. i’m not sure he could pull it off but i think i’d like to see Hayden in a war drama type movie.

My issue was never Hayden's acting capacity. The prequels are full of legitimate actors (except Portman) but they all give shit performances apart from Ian and Ewan. The problem was never the actors it was always George's piss poor direction.

Yeah Hayden isn't especially bad as an actor, he was inexperienced, and the writing and directing weren't great, and he looked worse compared to Rentboy and Sheev.

Except he kind of did it poorly, he can't pull it off. He comes across as a complete incel while Vader was much more of a confident, sassy Chad. A classically trained Shakespearian actor could have pulled off a voice like that without it becoming awkward and distractingly monotonous, but Hayden was just some decently skilled American prettyboy.
