The Siege of Mandalore is completely detached from the original script, it's full of injected Disneyisms like Force Mindreading and The Last Jedi homages.

It's paced like absolute dogshit and feels like something that was made out of obligation. There's zero emotional weight to one of the most important events in the entire series. He was in charge of production. The stories themselves were decided by the room, and then Lucas personally approved them. Sometimes he would even ask the room to use his ideas (the Droid Arc).

I don't know why Filoni decided to rewrite the final season considering he wasn't even an experienced writer at the time. It could have been hubris, or maybe Disney simply didn't feel like paying royalties to the original writers. The delta in quality between The Bad Batch episodes and the rest of the show is actually a perfect showcase of Filoni's incompetence. You can tell almost immediately from episode 5 that something terrible has happened to the writing. The dialogue is bizarre with a bunch of out-of-character moments, a ton of time is wasted on scenes inconsequential to the characters, plot, or theme. There's also Filoni's trademark: his attempt at creating artificially "tense" moments where a character hangs over a precipice for two minutes while the audience begs for the show to move the fuck on because we know he'll get saved at the last second. I'm not sure why he loves this so much but it's used constantly throughout his work.
