The reason for that is that they have to scan the film in the case of those classics, when it's newer movies filmed on digital its a much cheaper process and many times it's not even actual 4k, they just upscale a 2k digital master up to 4k and call it a day.

I remember watching this when I was a kid and wondering if we could live in such a world without realising it but even then I realised that they weren't changing everyone's physical forms and simple accidents could throw off the next nights reality.

Its fine, its not that over the top, and the movie earns a big climax by slowly unfolding and building up to it.
Compare that to actual capeshit, like bvs or age of ultron where the ending is a 40 minute obnoxious noisy pointless filler where you can see the best CGI rushed out by the lowest bidder of two action figures smashing into eachother, destroying a city, killing thousands of people, and then punching the purple space laser hard enough to kill the enemy army in one hit.

Hence the deja vu thing from the first Matrix movie (which cannibalized this and a few other movies to deliver its trannypill)
