Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is probably the worst from the prequel trilogy. But for some reason, there's a prevailing myth that it was the one redeeming film from an otherwise disappointing prequel trilogy.

Why is this?
The new villain is forgettable, the melodrama is womanly, the visual effects are overblown and showy, the music is unjustly epic. It sucks.

I really think Star Wars nerds just wanted more from the original trilogy, and rated RotS highly because it featured a tiny amount of callback fan service.

If they had kept this one scene it would be par with I and II and VI, but in stead it is heavily shortened so more like IV's special edition (which is worse than the original).

The story of a fallen knight who does it for love is admirable. As GRRM puts it, love is the death of duty.
Anakin's story is universal theme.
The atmosphere of the movie is also kino. All the jedi, the clone wars, the fall of the republic, the dawn of the empire. THis movie is the definition of star wars. Lets not talk about the ost "the duel of fate". Absolute kino.

As someone who saw all three in the theaters, I enjoyed it. Episode II gets unfairly shit on, in my opinion. Episode I was put in an unwinnable position.

It was the best of the prequels because it had the most action and least dialogue. Most the dialogue and story that is there is shit, but that's the case in the other two prequels as well.

Anyway the movies weren't even supposed to be trilogies they were supposed to be serials like Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers which means they could go on indefinitely. George was just a lazy whiny bitch boy and gave up after three movies because it was "too hard". Go to his older interviews and he says he had plans for at least 12 movies.

No youre the retard not every series is a single entity. These movies were neither written at the same time and they were not shot at the same time. There were decisions made that were reactive to the perception of the previous movies and even current events. You can maybe apply that logic to the LOTR books as that was written as a whole and split up, but even the movies moved things around to give each one more of a beginning and an end.

It's not the worse prequel. That would be Attack of the Clones. It's also better than Phantom Menace. Not gonna lie and say that it isn't really flawed but it is the only prequel that even comes close to being good even with all the problems it has.
