Why doesn't one world trade center get as much attention in films and pop culture like the twin towers?

Why doesn't one world trade center get as much attention in films and pop culture like the twin towers?

hq720.jpg - 686x386, 77.45K

Its just a far less iconic tower with a boring silhouette

because the twin towers got destroyed

It was featured in the super mario animated movie poster

the simplicity of the rectangular twins is unmatched in NYC out of Empire State and that ones a total history tower

They don't want to jinx it

it's ugly

trump was right. the twin towers should've been rebuilt.

I thought there was like six buildings with two of them almost as tall as each other? What happened there?

I want a scene in the next spiderman to take place in the new tower. I think that could help make it more relevant in pop culture

The first thing trump said about it was that his building was now the tallest in Manhattan

Because they were teasing the destruction of the twin towers for years in hollywood media.
It was a planned event decades in advance.
It's called soft disclosure.

Why do people hate on this building so much? I think it's pretty beautiful in a simplistic way. And it's probably the most iconic American skyscraper from this century.

1WTC.png - 654x992, 1.39M

Why are modern buildings so soulless?

Technology is supposedly better than ever and yet we don't build monuments or things to last anymore. Nothing particularly iconic, especially from a construction sense, has been erected in the last century or so.

This photo is probably from like 2014. Here is a more recent photo of how the site looks today. 2 WTC (the gap in the middle) and 5 WTC are still in construction.

2wtc_new.png - 944x1155, 592.84K

They were ugly as fuck. Every major building built in the 70s was absolute dogshit in aesthetics and are blights on the landscape today. Not that new glass skyscrapers are much better, but 70s/80s builds are atrocious.
New York should have a rule that every skyscraper should be built in Art Deco/Neo-Classical style.

Because the twin towers were groundbreaking for their time and were the tallest buildings in the world for a time. The new tower not so much

Double the towers, double the attention.

This is the number one thing that has shown Capitalism has largely failed at actually mass improving society. It's easier to build than ever, automatic routing machines can do the work of a 1000 craftsman in a day. Yet, everything looks like fucking ass.
Even Stalin era 1930s USSR was building far better shit than anything built in the past 50 years. Is the modern west so shit we can't even match the 1930s Soviet Union?

So 2 WTC is going to be the same height or close to as the 1 WTC?

The reflecting pool is nice, but it's just a glass tower. It's not particularly special or memorable.
As ugly as the Twin Towers were, they had more character than Tower One.

It was originally going to be the same roof height as 1 WTC but recently it was redesigned and its height was reduced. So now it's barely taller than 3 WTC. The pic is the most recent render released a few days ago. Very disappointing honestly

those thin towers they have nowadays are strange, like giant needle buildings

Here is an older render showing the original height

2-wtc-1.jpg - 750x762, 160K

It's too sensitive to feature them now, before it was just some office buildings but now its sacred ground

What films featured the twin towers? I dont think they were that frequently featured either

There's plenty of ugly buildings from the 70s/80s but there's also plenty of kino brutalist buildings from that period too.

The original idea was for the pole at the top to be a glass atrium greenhouse, a really tall one at that, until the engineers told architects that would be really retarded and physically impossible.

They also wanted it to be entirely glass, from base to tip, but the NYPD and FBI pointed out that a glass base makes it a fantastic target for a car bomb, so that's why the base looks so different from the rest of building. The architects that they had working on the this building were retarded and that's why it took so long for it to be built.
They could have just rebuilt the Towers, but everyone always hated the Towers in this city before they were destroyed, so a lot of people viewed it as a chance to get something better. And while the Towers were indeed hideous, all you got to replace it was a bunch of glass tower.

I wonder if these boring glass buildings will also eventually become a product of their time and grow on people

cause its ugly as shit

Virtually every film that was set in New York from early 70s to 01 would feature a shot of them in the skyline at some point.

The base of the building actually looked good but it was scrapped for some reason. 2 WTC was the only building that looked beautiful, but even that was scrapped

Taxi Driver, one of the most iconic new york films does not feature the twins

The base of the building actually looked good but it was scrapped for some reason

The base of 1 WTC was original glass, which made it a target for bombs.

They were shown in more than 1500 movies

Heres a site where you can see in which movie they were featured:
donnagrunewald.wixsite.com/wtcinmovies

And now its a 100m of concrete cube

No I was talking about this original design. I remember reading an article somewhere that they invested millions of dollars into some new technology related to the base but it was scrapped and it was replaced by the current design.

It's just a sky scraper, those are a dime a dozen.

Depends if anyone does anything interesting with them I suppose. I think most people find them boring and they're also generally really bad for managing heat and glare.

The original idea was for the pole at the top to be a glass atrium greenhouse

Source? I know the spire was originally meant to be cladded but I never heard of this. To my knowledge the original spire was just cancelled because they ran out of money

pic

All of the designs and the other buildings in the complex are buttfuc ugly

Because it just doesn't have as much of a physical presence. The new design is sleeker but two giant monoliths towering over the city is more imposing and memorable

It's efficient. Have you heard of the concept of players optimizing the fun out of games? This is the same but with architecture. All those little fancy embellishments on the side, even the stone ridging itself, would cost more money to clean whereas a flat sky scraper doesn't require much time per meter since it's just flat glass.

Oh ok you are probably referring to daniel libeskinds designs. 2 World Trade Center in 2005 looks beautiful though

I can hear your hands rubbing from here, Lucky Larry.

Crazy how this guy is still alive

Apparently the tower management copyrights its depiction in media for some reason. I remember Spiderman PS4 games had a brouhaha about it. Maybe movies also have problems with that kind of thing, as bizarre as it sounds.
stevenbuccini.com/why-1wtc-isnt-in-spiderman

Why would they do this? I feel like the tower would be more relevant and popular if it was included in more media

Because they thought people would be lining up to give them money..

Bruh. Well hopefully they change this

I always thought it was kinda fucked that they rebuilt towers on such a monumental + historic space. I guess people move on, but I'll truly never forget.

"25th Hour" had a cool shot of Ground Zero and it felt pertinent to the story about a guy who was going to prison.

People needed some kind of replacement to ease the pain of the empty skyline, so I don't think it's disrespectful necessarily.

There is something so cool and imposing about two giants square monoliths over the streets of NYC. New building doesnt catch that at all. And the design is pretty meh.

Jews

1 WTC just doesn't have the relevance that twin towers had which revolutionized skyscrapers. But I'm sure the new building will also become iconic over time, it already is to a large extent.

atheist buildings are so nasty looking and incredibly carcinogenic thanks to faggot scientists and their obsession with toxic chemicals

Recent NYC buildings are getting better

it's copyrighted and you have to pay royalties to have it in your game or movie. So most people replace it with a fictional tower.

It's a big ugly glass dildo they put there to remind us of our failure to rebuild and the pathetic coping mechanisms we resorted to instead. You looked at the twin towers and thought of an unbeatable global superpower. You look at onewtc and grimace thinking about all the freedom hating faggot cowards who call it their workplace and the bloated corpse of a nation hosting them.

They don't want to draw attention to the occult aspects of the tower and their jew voodoo antics. The interlocking upwards and downwards triangles are an affront to nature, an improper merging of the masculine and feminine (star of david). The reflecting pools are black cubes and pits to hell.

got any examples?

270 Park Avenue looks pretty cool

Everyone gets a 450 sqft apartment!

No cars!

No travel!

Sorry, but new WTC is ugly looking and boring

It grew on me personally

WTC.png - 880x1074, 856.97K

Yeah of course, no modern skyscraper can look like this

The twin towers should have been rebuilt. By not rebuilding them America admitted that the terrorists achieved their goal. America could have killed every living thing from from Syria to Pakistan and it wouldn't have sent a message half as strong as just rebuilding the towers exactly as they were.

This

Need I remind you that New Yorkers fucking hated the twin towers because they were big ugly boxes?

I think mostly for copyright reasons and also the original WTC buildings were more significant historically

By not rebuilding them America admitted that the terrorists achieved their goal

The terrorists already achieved their goal, they dragged America into war for israel.

New Yorkers hate everything at first until it grows on them as time goes on and it eventually becomes a symbol of pride for the city. In a couple of decades the same will probably happen to the new WTC.

shit looks gay, and I bet every corner floor going up, suck ass. Why would you want a tapered room? Shit sucks for use, and sucks to look at. It looks like it was made by some gay that was trying too hard to be a unique space unicorn.

refuse to rebuild the Twin Towers out of fear

install a monument that essentially preserves and permanently holds open the gaping wound left on America by the attacks

build a gaudy, tryhard, ugly new tower next to that gaping wound of a monument

name it after a globalist agenda (1 World) instead of anything patriotic

Everything about the new tower proclaims, "America lost, fuck America, we will never rebuild and recover, we're just going to bend the knee to globalism."

instead of anything patriotic

What would you have named it? Freedom tower already sounds corny af, one world trade center sounds fine.

I'm pretty sure most people have said the offices in the new building are on improvement over the old building. The old WTC offices were depressing and claustrophobic.

The only thing making it depressing and claustrophobic were the paint job, the lighting, and the cubicles. All are easily changed. Cubicle walls don't even get bolted to the floor, you can simply move/remove/replace them whenever you'd like. You don't need a whole new tower to fix ugly 90s beige cubicle office design.

They didn't. The footprints of the twin towers are left there as a memorial.
They should've just build two different looking twin towers where they're building the new ones, wouldve been a better memorial than these dime a dozen skyscrapers they're building

"Open plan" is the most nightmarish thing possible

The incredibly narrow windows I think are what make it claustrophobic actually

I agree they should have rebuilt the original wtc complex exactly how it was, that thing was like the mecca of america, theres a reason it was targeted.

america still hasnt recovered form 9/11

Gay.

Should've gone with this.

Touche but Taxi Driver doesn't feature the shot of the New York skyline at all. Everything is shot claustrophobically and from Travis' perspective.

Well yeah, also that's a very horizontal building, can't really work as a Skyscraper, the proportions are too different.

The windows aren't quite as narrow as they seem in that far away photo, and there's something to be said for the feeling of security walls can provide. Having yourself completely exposed to glass walls like in the new building can make people feel on edge because there are too many places for threats to come from and it keeps your lizard brain on alert too much.

we're just going to bend the knee to globalism

The Twin Towers were literally the ultimate symbols of globalism though.

america still hasnt recovered form 9/11

That was always the goal, right down to the "Never Forget" mantra burned into everyone's brains.

I honestly believe we should've glassed mecca and medina for this.

They are narrow by modern standards. They were a product of their time. I really can't say that this is "better" than what we have right now.

No, they were symbols of global American hegemony.

sometimes i wonder how different things may have been without it... but then i get way too sad...

9/11 was only a sypmtom. the disease started in 1794 when washington used the militia to collect taxes

it looks just like every other globohomo skyscraper design you could see filling the skyline of any modern chinese city.

So you guys honestly think 9/11 wasn't a false flag? Really?

Modern standards kind of suck, though. Open plan offices, zero walls, windows spanning every wall, fish bowl conference rooms... It's all designed to make workers easier to watch and to make them feel watched. It's an assault on the threat detection part of the brain and makes people experience a constant low grade hum of stress and paranoia. Those narrow windows feel less exposing and dangerous because there's some structure between the glass. You have to have balance between an office that's a depressing coffin and an office that's a paranoia-inducing fishbowl.

By building the most boring globohomo looking buildings of all time. For better or for worse you are actually right.

Even Stalin era 1930s USSR was building far better shit than anything built in the past 50 years.

The WTC has long lost it's title as the tallest buildings in the world. Thats why more buildings like Burj Khalifa or Merdeka 118 are getting more attention.

isn't the amount of stuff filmed in new york way down?
used to be they would film in atlanta or vancouver instead, but now everything seems to be green screen in montreal

Imagine American buildings with that much color and texture instead of being flat, brown and gray cubes.

It's because they realized it's easy to money launder now than back then. It's why wealth is concentrated and everything costs more and looks like shit. The bulk of the money goes to fees and other horseshit, which reinforces false value. If a pound of iron cost $1 before but a bunch of buildings said they spent $5 on it to build then others will use that price and get paid out in other ways. It's why AI is a massive scam which China revealed. We were told we needed to invest billions to trillions in new data centers and power plants for AI (with no real actual purpose) and then China redoes it and it turns out you need neither. Of course, we're still doing it and most of the money will end up in Bezos, Zuck, and Elon's pockets as they use H1Bs and illegals to build it all.

I think they knew the buildings were being targeted at some level but in the mess of the 2000 governmental transfer the proper investigations just never happened.

Bush def knew something was about to happen but he just didn't care. The same thing could happen now with a building in LA or Chicago as Trump wouldn't give a fuck about any alerts about those cities. It's why Bush looked so fucking shocked when it happened, he was told they were going to do it and he brushed them off as dumb monkeys.

Many other states offer way more attractive tax incentives for productions shot there. New York apparently started some 30% tax credit program a couple of years ago to try and boost productions again but doesn't seem to have had much of an impact. Probably doesn't help that everything about being in New York is more expensive. There's not really any net benefit to filming there anymore unless your story absolutely has to be set there and even if it was you could film a lot of interior shots and shit in another state that has better tax incentives, isn't a pain in the ass to get around and doesn't send you broke for buying a cup of coffee.

It was meant to appear in the Spiderman ps4 game but it was cut because of copyright

depressing and claustrophobic.

Cozy and soulful.

Also it's easier to film in a rust belt city which are basically empty vs a packed Manhattan. You can CGI everything to look more new yorky where fake license plates and 'NEW YORK PIZZA' fails. It's sad though as shit filmed in Indiana and Atlanta now looks so fucking soulless. It's one of things I loved about Only Murders in the Building as the exterior shots in the City were so Kino.

Some people said that the new design is better because it makes 1WTC the centerpiece of the site. Personally I think the original design was also bad but at least it looked tall and imposing. Now it looks both short and ugly.

America has been too scared to build tall buildings ever since 9/11. It's very sad.

I was in HS in 2000 and we went to NYC for a field trip and went up into the WTC. I drank a shitty Nathan's espresso on the deck looking out everywhere. It's a shame the new building doesn't have an open air observation deck for such soul.

Realistically there's no real value to them outside of legit cock measuring.

This thing was literally the most finely designed and productive single complex in the world.

Decent, but most of it would be empty sadly.

This as well though

Made out of cheap materials and plaster. Congratulations, retard.

A lot of buildings are initially. But yes it will be

Many are empty now, it's why the tall buildings being built in manhattan, miami, LA, etc are skinny and mainly residential. That much height and volume is unproductive in modern America where most people want to live in country, and only the real wealthy want to blow millions on a top floor pad.

These folks will have a great view of the next plane.

Still are, most of the tallest buildings in the world rn are only 20-30% occupied. Remote work legit killed that culture but it was happening well before. Apple, Tesla, Facebook, Amazon, etc. didn't pursue tall buildings like GM and others did - they want sprawling college like campuses or in Amazon's case taking over an entire city.

It's not such a feasible plan to pull off nowadays

Legit I'd prefer a cubicle than this type of open floor plan bullshit. It's why so many people prefer to work remotely

I hope it happens, it would be kino

hq720.jpg - 686x386, 47.26K

It reminds me of that tragedy...

Esp since most planes will be remote controlled/self driving in a few years.

So it's not an iconic building because the owners are greedy jews who refuse to let it appear in media without royalties? That makes sense. No one is going to pay money to put a fucking building in a movie or game, so it just will never appear anywhere and thus never become recognized in the public eye. The Twin Towers were primarily iconic because of constant media exposure. Remove that and no one will even know your stupid dildo building exists.

Yep pretty much

What an absolute fucking eyesore that thing is.

They should have done this

twin.jpg - 1280x720, 124.89K

I hate how fake it makes the city feel, like, should I be paying them to look at it too? They are literally privatizing our skylines.

You will own nothing, not even your sense of sight.

leaving it as a memorial is an insult being a physical reminder no matter how you doll it up and is the opposite of what new york should be a place of constant growth and expansion, wasting space like that that will never contribute to the city and in another 20 years the meaning for the memorial becomes less important.

t. New Yorker in the 70s talking about the newly built Twin Towers

Doing this and rebuilding the customhouse, mariott, and the underground mall and transit connections would have been perfectly acceptable honestly.

leaving it as a memorial is an insult being a physical reminder no matter how you doll it up and is the opposite of what new york should be a place of constant growth and expansion, wasting space like that that will never contribute to the city and in another 20 years the meaning for the memorial becomes less important.

Zoomers dgaf about wtc. I work with a girl who is 23 and the group was talking about it and she had no concept of it being traumatic to have seen the destruction. Gen alpha will have something built there in 30 years.

The new complex has a performing arts center which I think is nice

The original WTC was a physically impressive complex that became iconic within american culture, the new WTC is forced slop and not even technically impressive at all, its just a building.

At least the Twin Towers generally matched the color palette of the other buildings. They're very prominent and draw the eye, but they still look like they belong among the other buildings. The new one sticks out like a sore fucking thumb, all that bright blue and that stupid circle and antenna thing at the top.

That is a nice addition to be fair.

People still hated it though, it grew on people over time. But yes other than that I agree with what you said. The old complex was ground breaking in many ways and the new one is just an okay replacement.

ai-flown planes

sounds risky. only a thin line separates the electronic pajeet from the electronic abdul

It's been 11 years since 1WTC was opened and everyone still hates it. It's not going to grow on anyone, it's ugly and doesn't belong among the neighboring architecture even slightly.

would you trust ai or a woman pilot?

two enormous monoliths with walls made of thousands of individual windows

versus

a single deformed rod

You know how people say that Japan's economic crash killed the cyberpunk genre? The crash of the WTC killed the aesthetic. You look at the stereotypical 80s and 90s japanese cyberpunk city designs and they're basically cities made entirely out of WTC knock-offs. The new WTC is both soulless and lacking in impact in comparison.

WTC_at_night.jpg - 576x851, 120.74K

AI

i'd rather walk

It's been 11 years since 1WTC was opened and everyone still hates it. It's not going to grow on anyone

This is false from my experience, yes many people still hate in large part due to being compared to the original towers but it has grown on some people over time and it has become quite iconic on its own right.

I haven't taken a plane since covid and probably never will again with how many air accidents keep happening regularly.

That's what I miss most of all really, the complex itself was a marvel.

Monolithic brutalism is always impressive and humbling.

A mile high pyramid will make you feel more than a mile high christmas tree. There's something about it...

R (20).jpg - 1200x797, 952.77K

. Apple, Tesla, Facebook, Amazon, etc. didn't pursue tall buildings like GM and others did - they want sprawling college like campuses

isn't it incredibly difficult for the bay area companies to have some giant tower because of building code issues from seismic risk?
even the newer ones are pretty short
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_San_Francisco

A pyramid may as well be entwined into part of the earth itself, like old WTC was entwined within the earth.

Looks perfectly fine I like the memorial park to bad they went for a crater memorial instead of a nice statue of dr doom crying

seismic risk

No, it's because of NIMBYs. They passed a ballot proposition that requires all tall buildings to get voter approval and then they vote against them every time so they don't obstruct their view. It's the reason there's no affordable housing in SF anymore because they cannot build apartments/condos there.

did they seriously turn the site of the former twins into fountains? That's somehow fucking eerie.

Yeah it's like enshrining a gaping bleeding wound.

It's a larger issue relating to relative value. It's why so many storefronts in cities are empty despite the apartments above going to millions. Louis Rossman did a good video about it.

Many people forget that the St. Nicholas Church (in the bottom right) is also a part of the complex, which was rebuilt after its destruction on 9/11.

He got away with everything and will live a long happy life. Meanwhile thousands of palestinians die screaming daily.

why doesnt my ai slop get as much attention as real buildings

Kys

Spin City. Mikes a workaholic episode

take down two buildings

3k deaths

uhmm maybe there shouldn't be that many people inside/around a single building? Spread out, retards, the US are huge

Globalism was super cool when they didn't force violent "foreign experts" into schools and sòyciety.

Off by 5 actually. Or even 6 if you count the Deutsche Bank Building.

Well I dont have an off by five meme buddy.

We MUST support Israelm, anon.

miga19.webm - 1280x720, 2.94M

This was almost built in Boston.

FAA blocked it because of its height.

Lol yeah fine

What? Not really, anon. There are airports more complex than that.

Like they have any idea.

Because back then skyscrapers like the twin towers were awe inspiring and ground breaking but now they now just feel kinda run of the mill because of how common tall buildings are in the world.

Airports serve a different purpose, and ultimately are simply large rather than overly complicated. Old WTC was a living beating heart of american commerce. It generated so much varied economic activity every single day it was insane. No single complex has ever come close to it.

Freemasonry. Do your research on the masonic towers and the one tower. FREEMASONRY!

What are you on about niqqa

I'm going to march every freemason and kike up the one world trade tower, wrap them in their kike flag set them ablaze and push them off the top of the building.

meds

Because Freedom Tower is boring glass garbage that belongs in Shanghai, the twins should have been rebuilt

Freemasonry. Do your research on the masonic towers and the one tower. FREEMASONRY!

Meds. If you're referring to the pillars there's 3 pillars. Two supported but the third was the important one.

I unironically really like this WTC replacement proposal by Foster and Partners. Kinda wish it was built

Why is every architect obsessed with these retarded sloped walls?

why didn't they have bridges or breezeways connecting the towers at different heights?

No idea, I think it actually looks cool though, its weird and brave

A lot of the WTC reconstruction proposals were whack, like some are genuinely hilarious

It's a classic look.

Heres another weird one

boring and ugly
similar to those london skyscrappers
"oh wow, it's all glass"
who gives a shit, it looks like a piece of broken ass

I don't give a single shit about what New Yorkers think.

I miss the 90s

I've always been enamored with New York. Some of my ealiest memories are up here in rural canada watching my mom play nes in the computer room where there was a huge photo like this pic framed above the tv. It was also a night shot but from the other side looking down on that bridge

The new tower isn't horrible but it's just not the same

The coolest and most unique things about the twin towers was that, well, they were twin skyscrapers. Plus it's that they were the tallest buildings in the world for like two decades, so they very noticeably stuck out from New York's skyline, making them one of its most prominent features. The new one should have had a twin companion.

can't even pick your nose without 3 coworkers seeing it
fucccckkk that

How do people work in a building that tall? I would die from the anxiety of collapse or falling through a window, or the government using me to start a war.

The new buildings honestly could have rivaled the original twins if they just built two world trade center as originally proposed. But that's been cancelled so now it just pales in comparison

Same honestly

based. it's always good to see the bright side

Maybe they should make good architecture instead of these generic glass shards. They're so fucking ugly.

The diamond shape of Two World Trade Center easily made it look the best in the complex, why they didn't prioritize building it over the other buildings is beyond me. And now we'll never get to see it.

A shit ton more buildings.

In Lower Manhattan? I Doubt it. There definitely is more but I don't think a shit ton more. That's more like mid-town

Heres a strangely realistic render of 2WTC that exists for some reason

2WTC Render.png - 1474x1110, 2.05M

Most of the flight is already automated on big passenger jets. It's really just takeoff and landing when the pilots are in control. Those are also when most accidents occur.

More. The falling water goal is to represent the falling towers. WTF were they thinking?!

But I'm sure the new building will also become iconic over time

Not gonna happen. Ist been 12 years since it was build and everyone still hates its guts.

its pretty simpe. sovl vs souless

as a Anon Babble 4chanarian you of all people should understand this

they should've just rebuilt them on the same spot
the fact that they have the spot where the original towers were still empty is like a big scar

you’re a peasant

contrarian YouTuber

I worked in WTC3 and it looked just like this in the north side. best view of Manhattan.

Huh? It already is, 1WTC is one of the most recognizable modern US skyscrapers because of how much publicity it got. And it became prominent because of just how much it sticks out in Lower Manhattan. Peoples opinion on it are still definitely mixed though.

it has about as much chance to become iconic as the star wars sequels

It already is, mostly because it sticks out in lower manhattan, in one of the most famous cities in the world. Like 1 WTC is 100x more famous and iconic than any skyscraper in Philadelphia or something for example. But yes opinions are definitely mixed

there is a kino building in seattle that has been there since 1977 and was designed by Minoru Yamasaki, who designed the WTC towers. it never gets shown in seattle movies or tv series. its always the space needle, pike place market or smith tower

There's too much money in Manhattan for it to never be built. What is there right now is a series of painted storage containers and a seasonal outdoor beer garden. They just built those two new giant buildings in midtown (the one that looks like if someone took a magnet to the Empire State Building by Grand Central and that giant black monolith one) it's just a matter of there's so much involved in the Port Authority, human memory, the city, the Department of Homeland Security, we have a president who owns some office buildings in Lower Manhattan and that's even more complicated and an upcoming recession that's sure to hit construction hard.

And they were HUGE. Only one of the twin towers had more office space than the entire new complex.

Nothing classic about it. It's just functional.

and the french hated the eiffel tower
what's your point?

It's lame, that's why

Every Asian city looks better than NYC these days.

it doesn't look bad but original wtc were better

even when the twin tower were around the empire state building was always my favorite. it should have stayed the tallest building in NYC desu

They were built to handle planes crashing into them not to look pretty.

New York real estate is too valuable to ever do that

famous and very important buildings get destroyed by terrorists

burgers decide to ban any depictions of it from previous media instead of letting them in therefore preserving its symbolism and historical significance

such a bunch of kucks

I still think they should've made two of them in this design. It's not a bad design but there not being two of them just feels wrong to me. Am I alone in thinking this?

You are not

Empire State Building will always be the king of NYC

The taller tower looks at the graves of its brethren, mocking them

Classically functional.

Once you accept that the 9/11 attacks were (at worst) orchestrated by the American government or (at best) allowed to happen by the American government, all for the sole purpose of inflicting lasting trauma on the American populace in order to secure greater governmental control over people and their lives, it all makes perfect sense. Recovery was never part of the plan. Quite the opposite: They want everyone to hold onto the fear, paranoia, and pain, because it makes everyone easier to control.

Why do you think they immediately came out with the "Never Forget" slogan, then turned the footprints of the towers into permanent horrific black pits instead of allowing them to be rebuilt?

Yeah something like that would've been better.

Or they could have just done this as originally proposed

This is true. The Twin Towers were unpopular when they were around, it's only after 9/11 that they became beloved as a symbol of America.

genuinely dont know how the open office plan caught on so bigly. you'd think having your office resemble a sweatshop is a prestige hit but i guess not.

i've worked in a semi-open office once and it was hell, couldn't get shit done until half the people clocked out and the visual/audio clutter died down. you'd think management would realize how bad it is for productivity, but then again they themselves probably love working in open offices because you can yell at workers from across the room and you can examine all your wageslaves at once

Why does this get as much attention in films and pop culture?

best use of Twin Towers in film?
