NO way in hell Spike can even hold a candle to the final act of the original movie.

Highest 2 Lowest

Lmao what a retard

Because all niggers can do is steal and claim japanese crap as their own

trailer with pretentious name dropping and long breaks with just text

skip skip skippity skip

I'm so sick of negroes.

Can you handle the memes Anon Babble?

Spike Lee sucks though. If he were white he'd be regarded on the same tier as Uwe Boll.

Come on now, Malcolm X, Inside Man, 25th Hour, Clockers, all kino.

let's take an existing work

and make it black!

. . .

High and Low is based on King's Ransom which is an American novel so it's

let's take existing white work and make it Japanese

and then

let's take a Japanese version of existing white work and make it nu-American (black)

Apparently the movie is so bad that despite Spike Lee being a super respected filmmaker and also black (DEI points) this shit was still rejected from the main Cannes competition, and Cannes did not even announce that they're adding it to the Out of Competition (or Cannes Premiere, not sure) section.
Reminder that Jim Jarmusch got into the Competition section with his literal shitpost of zombie movie The Dead Don't Die in 2019. The bar is not high. And yet.

black people try not to use the number 2 as a replacement for the word 'to' challenge (VERY HARD)

This is smart. So you don't Google High and Low and get the wrong movie. I fucking hate how you can't Google stuff like Lion King or West Side Story without getting the shitty remake.

Spike Lee is a hipster who grew up spoiled and on all white culture and most likely got bullied for this by ghetto blacks in his school. This cause a lifetime of overcompensation and larping as a hood nigger despite being a pretentious artschool kid.

I'm going to make a little bit of a prediction and say that whatever interpretation of the final scene is going to be, it's 100% going to involve sentiment of how he did it because whitey was bringing him down and how Denzel didn't do enough to uplift the hecking poc folk like him out of the poverty.

you’re not funny.
Just a faggot that lives on his PC and parrots

mid, a spike lee mid

hi Spike

High and Low is literally a loose adaptation of an Ed McBain story

Denzel

on auto pilot since he won an oscar
die already

yet another flick about black guys

Yeah, that's a hard pass.

the frustrating thing is that spike lee is clearly competent enough to show that he's just a black person and not a nigger, but he wants so very, very badly to be a nigger and it's the only thing he makes movies about

Spike who?

why tho

I genuinely don't remember High and Low so I might watch both and it might help people get into Kurosawa.

Memes are the DNA of the soul.

It’s an adaptation of an American crime novel.

Oldboy was also an adaptation, and yet Spike remade a dogshit version of it. This'll be about the same.

That he only knows about because he was going through the Kurosawa filmography

the pain of enjoying a spike lee film is that he gives you bangers and cringe at the same time

but why the fuck would you remake this?

What was the original?

read the thread nigga

Oh yeah, nobody has ever heard of Ed McBain in America.

Yeah and it was because the story of Oldboy poorly translates to America because certain idiosyncrasies. Spike should have done a very loose adaptation and just used the basic concept set in America rather than a direct remake that could never live up to the original movie that everyone still remembered.

Adaptation of a kidnapping story that’s originally a American crime novel is different. The Kurosawa version is also 62 years old, it’s entirely fine to remake it with modern touch when most people haven’t even seen it.

im so tired of this overused james brown song

Spike Lee can't even read

there's more to life than to make money

yeah, shame you need them for 99% of things in life, food, tools for your hobby, a house, for your family and kids, clothes etc, you can't buy food with your integrity/what you believe in

high and low is such a great movie. i really love it. this movie looks so different it seems hard to consider it a direct remake, but hopefully it's good in its own right

Looks good 2bh.

read description of original. "ah, Denzel as a shoe salesman"

he's actually a record executive or some shit
