For me it just got more and more retarded. Instead of just being a show about a normal dude who ends up accidentally becoming a fugitive in the early rebellion era under the crushing weight of the Empire, it's actually about that same dude but somehow he's also in wacky capers and random events that lead nowhere and are completely ejected from the plot once they're over. He's living with some bandit/rebel/outlaws who want to attack a tax outpost and rob it! He kills a bunch of guys in the process! Where does all the money go when it's over? Who cares! We're on to this new thing where he's in prison now! 10 episodes of "this prison is super bad guis", and then it's just over in one big escape thing. Does anything about the story change because of it? No! He just goes back to his home planet! Does he do anything there? No! Someone else starts a riot and he runs away!

Literally nothing of any sort of character growth, plot development, or merit happens at all, he's just the same fugitive (but more now) he was before. The only person who has any development is the fucking rich lady in the side story, and he whole point is just to fluff up some lore about how the Rebels in A New Hope had rich people bankrolling them.

Also I appreciate that they don't try to make any goofy looking aliens actual characters, but they should at least have some more around as window dressing or it starts to just not feel like Star Wars anymore. Like the gold heist planet where it's all tribal people (and obviously they're Disney-diverse, ugh), it just felt like I was watching some shitty Dr Who episode, they should've been aliens.

I just don't know why like, 70% of the show exists. What is the overall point? Is it supposed to be about how a down-on-his-luck guy with tangential connections to rebellion-ish people ends up a fugitive and becomes radicalized against the Empire? Is the show about how bad life is in an Empire death-prison? Or is it like Rogue One where literally none of it matters and the only purpose is to lead into the events of Rogue One which exists to lead into the events of New Hope, rendering the characters and their experiences pointless?
