As it stands right now, unless they do some "Alternate reality', 'It was all a dream", "Time travel" bullshit, the sequels and the tv shows have truly dealt a killing blow to the wound the prequels inflicted. They would have to basically declare everything after RotJ non canon and start fresh and that will never happen. Plus Harrison and Hamil are old, Carrie is gone....it's over, they had a change and they squandered it.

As for why no sequel sequel trilogy is because Dinsey will ONLY crack that glass for an emergence when they need money. Remember they can burn however much failed marvel movies (that don't really lose money just hardly breaks even) time after time and still be fine. Disney is too big to fail. Their animated projects are mostly OK, their Mando & Ahsoka post-BBY story is pretty fun, just give Favreau and Filoni more creative freedom, let them curate all the SW projects, focus on non-Skywalker Saga elements, and don't let people who want to use Star Wars as a platform for virtue signaling anywhere near it. More animated shows like TCW, TBB, and Tales of the..., more live-action shows like Mando, Ahsoka, Andor, and Skeleton Crew, more GOOD books (from people like Drew Karpyshyn, Timothy Zahn, James Luceno, and JJ Miller), more GOOD comics (like that old Dark Horse stuff), fewer movies, and that's it.
