New misery kino is back on the menu

but will it be as horrifying as the original?

Who'll play the woman who pisses herself?

I didn't smile for a couple of days after I watched this

Threads was bullshit.

a nuke went off in Sheffield that means society collapses and we live in the Middle Ages speaking broken English

yeah okay, we all know it was propaganda designed to make nuclear power look bad.

Part of the reason the original was so horrifying to me was all the practical effects and how cameras back then made the UK look bleak and cold and miserable, with nukes on top of that. With CGI and shit now they won't be able to capture the same feeling so it won't be as scary.
The whole world got nuked, the principle characters were just from Sheffield so that's where the story was focused

society collapses and we live in the Middle Ages speaking broken English

That's Sheffield nowadays

It wouldn't be as bleak as the original. They wouldn't have the balls to showcase some of the stuff they showed back then today.

They should just do something original rather than reboot threads like do a miniseries where Sellafield goes boom and shows the aftereffects through three generations of the same family or something like that.

Fallout would be a significantly reduced issue by the 1980s, and including now.
Modern nuclear weapons are designed to explode above a target rather than by directly contacting the ground. Fallout only becomes dangerous when the radioactive material mixes with the dust and dirt and debris and scatters across a large distance. This isn't typically the case with the fireball far above the target, destroying the target by the force of the explosion but not spreading any of the debris for hundreds of miles. Sure, radiation would be a problem but it would not realistically result in the events shown in Threads.

Holy shit Andrew Jackson is still alive!

This makes me feel a bit better. The scariest thing for me in Threads was the implication that the planet is fucked forever, but if modern nuclear weapons don't spread as much fallout I imagine humanity could survive in some shape or form to fix the planet later. Plus it would make surviving in rural areas a lot easier too

a nuke went off in Sheffield

Why didn't you mention the other nukes?

a nuke

it was a full pan-global nuclear exchange ya dingaling

Nuclear winter, as shown in the film, would probably not happen because the dust would not be dragged upwards by the mushroom clouds toward the atmosphere with the same force as a conventional contact-bomb.
Britain would have been a target to the Soviets. But realistically only the US military bases there and the major naval ports would have been seen as major targets, that and maybe the industrial centres. Luckily for Britain, by 1984 their industries were dying anyway so the Soviets wouldn't have to nuke them.

the maker of worldwide hit TV Adolescence

Oh brother...

I can't wait to see how "Jack Thorne Presents: Threads" will play out

I'm guessing something like

due to Brexit and tariffs, Putin was emboldened to nuke everybody in the ultimate act of white incel rage

now here is the story of how a brave Kenyan immigrant will survive in the wasteland of savage white murderers and rapists

Threads was lightning in a bottle, it shouldn't have worked but it did. Any new version would be fucking terrible.

Thatchers fault.

Is this the guy they based Der Coomer on?

me fookin son's a mutant

Will it be about incel rape gangs?

Actually laffed

OMELETTE!

The planet would in fine in almost any scenario, nuclear winter or not. It has survived way worse mass extinction events than anything we could muster. It might just take a bit to rebound.

I guess the Samson Option won't be mentioned

The planet may not be fucked forever, but human civilization might still be irrevocably devastated by a full blown nuclear exchange. The reason why they named the original film "Threads" is now more pertinent than ever: You have all these global supply chains that make everybody reliant on everybody else to maintain high tech society. A temporary disruption of these supply chains already causes economic crises. Now imagine what a total collapse of global trade would lead to. Pockets of humanity would undoubtedly survive, but it's questionable whether they could recreate the high tech society we have now, because the first industrialization used up all the easy to reach fossil fuels which they'd need for the second round. The survivors might be stuck on Amish levels of tech in perpetuity for lack of energy sources.

This is true but the amount of time it would take, from a human perspective, is really beyond our own terms of reference because we only live for about 80 years.

this country desperately needs a nuke

I had a really cute 16 year old patient today and I’m wishing I’d die in a nuke right now

speaking broken English

That's just how br*tish talk

The purported nuclear winter isn't so bad, it's the societal collapse which would be the real horror.
More so these days with our mass migrancy

You are witnessing the result of a concerted efforts by online shills to convince people that nuclear weapons are "not SO bad," in a world in which the use of nuclear weapons is becoming an increasingly desirable military option for many global superpowers

I love Threads but I've always found the whole "breakdown of language" thing to be utterly retarded. Makes no sense. The first generation of survivors all spoke normal English. So why wouldn't the second generation? You don't need public education to not speak like a caveman

Second gen are meant to be retarded mutants who are genetically fucked up from getting radiated in the womb

Yes Ivan we know you're raiding
No Ivan we are not going to retreat and give you Europe because you keep honking NOOK NOOK
Now go in your trench and sleep forever, your drone will be over shortly

Totally unnecessary, all theyll do is put more niggers in and ruin the pacing/drama/atmosphere

speaking broken English

that happened without a nuclear assault

Language acquisition was stunted because there was suddenly no free time to raise children, so they became feral.

is that why current kids still speak proper english? fr fr skibidi ohiozzler

Language would suffer greatly, more so written language and reading, and more so today.
What books didn't turn to ash or rot away would likely be burned for fuel in the winter.

I'm willing to bet my life savings there will be blacks in it

what happened to our culture that we cheer on blatant admissions of lack of originality and creativity? everything is a fucking reboot or remake its just fucking baffling.

I can't wait for the message to be "angry little white men with egos destroyed the world" and had we just let retarded indian women rule everything with be rainbows and gumdrops.

The original wasn't horrifying, it was dumb. A global nuclear exchange won't cause nuclear winter, it won't cause people to revert to being cavemen. It won't cause widespread radiation poisoning. It won't cause the ground to be too irradiated to grow food. These are all lies perpetuated by Jewish scientists to stop the USA from dealing with the red menace once and for all.

This will be shit, I think.

Who's cheering?

Do you think medieval peasant children spoke like cavemen just because they were illiterate? No, they spoke like their parents, who spoke like their parents, and so on. There is literally no reason language would ever degrade that much, at least in a single generation

Get a different job you're a liability

it won't cause people to revert to being cavemen

Not cavemen per se, but savages all the same.
We've all seen people losing their minds and treading on people over shitty food blender deals on black friday, fighting over rolls of toilet roll and hand sanatiser during covid.
Wait until the real horror starts and people are fighting over food, water, fuel, and warm clothing.

Horrors beyond your imagination.

Did medieval peasants suddenly and without warning have to begin spending 20 hours toiling daily, or did they have free time

Nuclear what? I thought it was just a slice of life show about Sheffield.

I feel like people would be conversing while they're working. Shit, I'm sure even gulag and concentration camp prisoners were chatting while slaving away, because that's what humans are programmed to do. Thinking everyone will just plow in dead silence for 20 hours straight like robots until everyone forgets how to speak is just pure grimderp

Do you think medieval peasant children spoke like cavemen just because they were illiterate?

I didn't say we'd end up speaking like cavemen, I just said language would suffer greatly.
Do you know what the literacy rate was in the medieval world, it was about 5-10%
Do you know how hard it is to pass information on or store information when your writing system difffers from the next mans.
You'll be speaking and writing pidgin at best.

Children horn in gulag are notoriously verbose.

Have you seen how zoomers and negroids speak? Makes a pretty compelling argument.

wtf autocorrect

homeschooling do be like dat doe

I'm saying that literacy and writing systems are completely irrelevant here. Even if you're illiterate, you're still gonna speak normally. Your vocabulary would obviously be much smaller and much more full of informal slang than a learned person's, but you wouldn't speak in one-word grunts like the kids in Threads

UK it's destroyed twice as fast because of negroes and pakis overpopulation

kek I hope it's made

A compelling argument for the total failure of the public education system perhaps. A nuclear holocaust would arguably be an improvement.

they're totally gonna nuke you this time!

I snooze.
No government on earth is ideological enough to fire a nuke anymore. They all just pretend, but are also basically in the same club behind closed doors, and are considerably more concerned with money and bullshit projects that they are nationalism.

from the progressive cultist nutjob propagandists that brought you: christian wypipo bad and poc muslims dindu nuffin, comes the harrowing tale of orange man bad dropped the nuclear codes and caused great suffering for pox muslims in london with a super nuclear holocaust, also jews good

The scariest part of nuclear armageddon is thinking about what all the roving gangs of evil "native" brits will do to the poor, helpless, charitable minorities that are trying to heal the world and rebuild society.

You're correct. but on the flipside your knowledge will be limited by whom you're ion contact with, which would be further compounded without societal cohesion.
If you're illiterate or books are scarce to none, a wealth of knowledge is lost; faming, husbandry, written language etc etc.

Chances are, your teachers will be the lowest common denominators, or just other children.

If you're illiterate or books are scarce to none, a wealth of knowledge is lost; faming, husbandry

You don't need a book to know that basic shit. For 10,000 years, billions of humans all over the world farmed without even having a concept of a writing system, just as humans knew how to hunt for 200,000+ years before that. It's simple, intuitive knowledge that parents pass onto their children

You don't need a book to know that basic shit

If you know how to rear and feed animals, farm and stockpile food through a winter then all the more power to you. But, most poeople don't... Lowest common denominator.

Also you're fogetting for 10,000 years generations have been taught farming generation by generation. not just thrown into a post apocylypse int hte age of preservatives, canned food, and the refigerator

Newfag

Part of the reason the original was so horrifying to me was all the practical effects and how cameras back then made the UK look bleak and cold and miserable,

the practical effects and how cameras back then made the UK look bleak and cold and miserable

made the UK look bleak and cold and miserable

the uk always looks bleak cold and miserable lol

I don't know. I live in the American south, where practically everyone's parents or grandparents were farmers, so I'm used everyone having access to a family farm

how? nuclear power plants were not a part of the plot at all

ME FOOKIN SON HAS LAUNCHED SUM ICBMS AGAINST ORIENTAL PAKISTANIES AND NOW THEY ARE RETALIATING! OH NO BLOODY HELL! I KNEW DEM ANDRE TATE AND FARAGE WANKERS VIDEOS WOULD ROT HIS NOGGIN!

not that unthinkable, there's plenty of retards nowadays that speak like cavemen already

me own fookin son, a nook

Like I said all the more power to you then. For everyone else, there's gonna be a hell of a learning curve, if they live through the first winter of course.

I tried to watch threads after Chernobyl and got bored when they were arguing about abortion

I can tell you right now it will portray white men negatively as vicious, authoritarian savages and pathetic, useless cowards while women and POCs are shown as noble, brave and resourceful etc. I bet you literally a million quid that's how it will be.

this movie is so incredibly overrated

A Threads remake?
I'M SHOOTIN' ROPES

I bet you literally a million quid

Is that some sort of squid currency or something?

The scariest thing for me in Threads was the implication that the planet is fucked forever,

it wouldn't be forever, just until all the humans died

Quid pro quo
Something for something

A
Quid

Don't quid me bro

Quid pro bro

Plus it would make surviving in rural areas a lot easier too

lmao
Good luck trying to farm without fertilizers, diesel and spare parts for your tractors.

100% this

what are the chances they're gonna slip some anti-nuclear power propaganda in there?

I'm sure Jack Thorne will cast some twink young boys.

the use of nukes would be bad, but people also fear monger worse than it is. Like in the Chernobyl film they say the 3 guys who went into the basement died and 2 of them are literally still alive and the other died in like 2012. Or they said everyone on the bridge died, which there is no evidence for. Or they say the radiation from the firefighter killed the baby, but the firefighter would have been irradiated, not radioactive and the woman and her family already had a history of miscarriages before the incident

1 squid is about worth 2 sticks and 5 stones of gold in weight

something something far-right hate is the REAL weapon of mass destruction

You don't have to feed the cities since they are nuked. Less intensive crops and permaculture, you are not looking to get every penny out of every acre, just survive another winter.

make a kino that looks cool

cast a black as the main character so no one will watch it

that one black faggot did that shit with the blitz. at least children of man was smart enough to have theo as the main character

members of I.N.C.E.L. that control part of the city

The scariest thing for me in Threads was the implication that the planet is fucked forever,

That happened when blacks left Africa

I was in Sheffield last week. It hasn't got any better since they dropped the bomb on it

Doesn't the original movie end with a loli rape/impregnation sequence? It was just your typical 80's shock-horror exploitation flick meant to capitalize on the "video nasty" fad.

IVAN IVAN IVAN

Take Meds.

Have you ever worked in a farm?
It isn't a next winter thing, it takes planning, tech and years of work to set the whole system. Sometimes the soil is shit and you need to fix it, plagues are a thing, bad weather...
There is a reason why the system is like this, and keep in mind you're not feeding just the cities, you're feeding the guy right next to you who got corn, the farm on the other side of town with chickens, and the dude who fixed your irrigation system.

You after transitioning.

squid. Island nation. We trade in seafood. Please understand.

practical effects and how cameras back then made the UK look bleak and cold and miserable

Anon... it does look like this

Fuck the bureaucrats. They had it coming.

Threads society would be an upgrade for large parts of London.

that's a big nose.

It was just your typical 80's shock-horror exploitation flick meant to capitalize on the "video nasty" fad.

It was a TV film made for the public BBC lad

Yeah but what I'm saying is that they were following that exploitation film trend despite being a BBC production.

the film definitely overdoes it a bit on the language thing but you'd definitely see language get fucked up within the first generation born post-nukes, for a lot of reasons; harsh existence making childrearing harder, widespread malnourishment means babies are born more fucked up and children grow up to be less intelligent bc less calories for their brains to develop, etc etc. You see this irl - children born in ghettos or abject poverty are often barely able to read and write, and often have fucked up dialects too, you'd see the same thing but much worse after a nuclear war devastates the world.

The real thing the film exaggerates is nuclear winter and radiation. Even with the much larger arsenals at the time the film came out the nuclear winter predictions were ridiculously overexaggerated, not to mention the complete pseudoscience about the ozone layer disappearing and everyone being irradiated ten years in the future which is total bullshit; In the present day with the much smaller arsenals not only would you see a significantly smaller initial death toll but you'd also see virtually no radiation threat since it's mostly thermonuclear airbursts nowadays. The film's main success imo is showing how the greatest threat after nuclear war is ultimately the breakdown of government and trade leading to mass anarchy and starvation, which is entirely accurate to real life imo.
Hopeful for this because I love realistic apocalypse kino and even if adolescence was retarded politically speaking the production value was excellent. My real concern is they'll fuck up the science of the nukes, like that scene in TWD where the nuke literally turns a woman to ash because she saw it from miles and miles away

Reminder that Threads was propaganda designed to denuclearize the west. In reality, nuclear warfare involves complex geopolitics that take weeks or even months to play out.

I think when it comes to language the opposite might be true to some degree. People place a lot of importance on language and being understood as well as understanding others, so while more refined language might be left behind for the most part, I doubt ebonics or other distorted forms of language would be tolerated and the push to preserve some sense of normalcy would likely see those who can't "talk normal" being ostracized.

Can't wait to see all the evil white men being horrible to all the innocent blacks and women of colours.

Putin nukes the UK after listening to Sigma Boy on repeat because it activated his latent White Male Rage or whatever

the story follows a brave Indian family whose biggest challenge isn't surviving the radioactive fallout, but ROICISM

all the white men will be comically evil and self-serving while the womyn and PoCs will be communal and selfless

Starmer will demand it be shown in schools across the land

who will they get to play this key role?

humans degenerating intro tribal tier retards who can't speak proper english in literally just 10 years after the war

lol

tribal tier

has functioning steam power, rudementary hospitals and organized farming

???

To be fair the only thing I remember from the movie is literally the scene of her pissing herself when the nukes go off
Well, besides the retardation of people losing the ability to speak properly after 5 years pass or whatever

humans

No, bongs. There's a difference

The military is still intact all those years later, and there's something of a medical system still.
t. Guy who watched the movie yesterday

as shitty as it's presented (watching broken old vhs tapes on a barely functioning tv) they even have something resembling an education system

Also, the movie makes the military seem cruel, but all of the people shown being shot either murdered somebody or tried to steal some of the rare remaining food.

heard for years about how this was peak miserycore brutality that will make you feel dead inside

finally get around to watching it

it was interesting, decent movie, but the supposed "brutal misery" was hardly shocking and I might go as far to say tame even, for what I'd been expecting

Same as with like, The Road, and Come and See. More and more I get the sense that normies are just fucking pussies

More and more I get the sense that normies are just fucking pussies

Welcome to the show.
