I liked the atmosphere and most of the characters but what made me stop watching was the lack of stakes, within 2 seasons you notice they get away with whatever the operation of the episode or season is every time. It's really mid. Basically nothing happens. Philip seems like he's going to get sick of the KGB's shit and the show's going to end in some sort of final clash between him and his wife but instead he just continues to put up with and go along with it even when they cross all of his red lines.

I never made it past the second season of the shield. every episode is just some over-exaggerated example of corruption. every character too. the show build the characters up, then tanks them with some weird bullshit, like in season one with the police caption suddenly being some BDSM freak leading to rape accusations.

Then I came back for season 3 and was floored by the quality upgrade and remained a loyal viewer to the end. While the last year was a little shaky I think you could argue the show just got better and better with every season until that point, which is extremely rare these days.

90s cars would show up semi regularly, I liked the show but once you started to notice them they couldn't be unseen.

I kind of like how the finale is open ended. It doesn't wrap everything up with a bow, and you don't know exactly what's going to happen next for all these characters. But it's still a satisfying ending.
