Wtf this movie was way better than The Matrix

The Matrix sequels all blow too.

They are not that bad well apart from the new one but the tranny sabotaged it on purpose.
Only the flight of the osiris and the 2nd renaissance is good in animatrix. I would like a real movie based on the second renaissance.
Good thing about those matrix sequels is that they came out 6 months apart from each other. I watched the 2nd or 3rd in the cinema myself too.

It's true, I was just a kid but I can remember going to see both the Matrix 2 and 3 at the cinema with my brothers. My three older bros shat on the 3rd one so hard when we came out I'll never forget lol. But I just watched all 4 and the drop off after 1 is actually pretty considerable.

Its got a great credits song aswell erase and rewind by the cardigans.

Really? I felt it was the right kind of open where I imagine he is gonna create a Utopia, making the best out of that odd situation of being stranded in space.

1 is the best sure and the 3rd is probably the worse (I dont even count the 4th as a movie, its a literaly purpose sabotage I turned it off half way through)
The issue with the 2nd and 3d is they went the whole "2deep4u" bullshit and had some trashy romance subplot, which of course was in teh 1st movie too.
It ruins the 2nd and 3rd even more as it turns neo into a little bitch pining all the time.
If it was my decision I would have turned the movie in another way where neo is fucking up the matrix and the machines are trying to kill him in the matrix and in the real world and that would have been the plot.
Overall the worse thing about it is that the ending is ambiguous as fuck and nothing is really resolved. Its all pretty much left up to the viewer to interpret.
Obviously the 4th flick retconned it all too.

I mean D'Onofrio in this is arguably on par with Weaving in The Matrix is another point I wanna add. In fact I'd actually say he's better

It's a good version of World on a Wire in the same way that City of Angels is a good version of Wings of Desire. Take a boring, tedious German movie, make a cool, sexy version. (Except 13th Floor is also German, kinda.)

What is interesting is that the ending of 13th Floor is a reshoot. Most people don't know this because the original ending was only released as an extra on the German DVD.

The theatrical cut ending is better. It doesn't make a lick of sense if you think about it too long, but it feels more emotionally authentic.

The theatrical one is definitely a "happy ending". But as you said it doesn't hold up to any level of scrutiny really, she literally has a full conversation with him about how he and Fuller are fully simulated. I guess maybe the implication is that she 3D printed him or something like that in the future and then downloaded his simulated consciousness back into his body.

D'Onofrio

He is a kind of underrated actor though,, he is great in pretty much everything I have seen him in.
Even that stalone and arnie movie escape plan, I hated him (as the villain) which means good acting.
Weaving is good and he lucked out with matrix and LotR trilogies going on at the same time, must have made bank but he is not as a skilled actor as D'Onofrio

The Cell is a highly underrated D'Onofrio kino
I rate Weaving as well though, he's done some good Aussie films like Hacksaw Ridge, Mystery Road, The Dressmaker... he also would have made mega bank from Transformers and V for Vendetta... but yeah Vincent is probably the better actor overall still.

Yeah it's the one with JLo and Vince Vaughn in it. It's a horror film about chick who is trying to save a serial killer's victim by entering the killer's dreams to find out her location. It's probably one of the best looking horror movies I can recall off the top of my head. Directed by the same guy who made The Fall.

I would still say The Cell is too good looking a movie to not watch. Same for The Fall. D'Onofrio is also good in The Cell as the serial killer. He gets some pretty insane costumes too.

i think it would have been more kino if keanu isn't in the movie at the beginning at all. there's a timeskip of course to account for the actual years elapsed between revolutions and now. neo is still missing/presumed dead. the matrix has been stable for nearly 2 decades, but errors have begun to accumulate. the machines think that somehow, the systemic anomaly has returned. it turns out neo's ghost is in the matrix, causing some sort of problem because he never returned to the source, he simply diffused himself into every bluepill and program in the matrix, hence why it's taken a while for the problems to surface.
from here you can go a bunch of different places, either it's a redemption story to rescue neo from his purgatorial existence, or a plucky band of new characters and survivors from the trilogy have to exorcise the ghosts of the past in order to preserve the peace. idk. anything except what they did. this post ironic sneering, and the total abdication of craft.

This movie is cringe and really shoves the message in the viewer's face. The Matrix doesn't have to explicitly tell you Zion is still in the Matrix, it's obvious. Why else would Neo have powers outside the jacked in matrix world.
