Chloe zhao almost exclusively makes south dakota docu-films

Back in the day there was women's 6 on 6 basketball. I'm trying to watch some sort of documentary about this in particular. The invention of Basketball is pretty cool and very American, the tradition where it morphs into what it is today sort of saw its swan song in those days in the midwest I think

The film was shot near Nashville and all of the extras are from that area. Harmony is from Nashville and the film clearly draws upon his experiences there. I know that it says that it takes place in Xenia Ohio but that just because it was a town that was wrecked by a tornado. It’s always kind of bothered me that Harmony put that in the film because it’s misled people into thinking it’s a movie about the Midwest experience when it’s clearly not.

There's probably ones about failing towns in the middle of nowhere or meth/opioid crisis stuff I'm sure.

Are there any documentaries about the midwest?

The history channel made a series called "Life After People" all about surviving the apocalypse/the aftermath/how society would collapse, it's Amazon prime atm.
They didn't bother to make elaborate disaster sets to shoot on, they just went too Gary Indiana and just....filmed.
They have some shots of people trying to "survive" in what's supposed to be a nuclear disaster zone or something, and it's really just the average street in Gary.

Why does America let it's heartland go to shit like this? I thought they were the richest country on earth and the leaders of Line Go Up™

Why?
Because Gary is 76% black. It's the "blackest city in the US" has been for several decades.
No other city in Indiana has these demographics, or has imploded in this way. Hoosiers avoid Gary like the plague.

true, the people of xenia hate it too

this is the first and last film you should watch about the midwest. it says everything worth saying about this place

Gary was a company town. Everyone who could afford to move out went out to the burbs, with the GI bill speeding up this process.

As factories moved out of inner cities as well, so did jobs and taxing pools needed for upkeep. This was a pattern to almost all former industrial towns, essentially reducing inner cities into containment zones for the redlined negroes and poorest of the whites that couldn't afford to move. This is exactly Line Go Up at work

Builded for Big Black Coffee

area called "midwest"

it covers the north-east of the country

?????

same, millennials & zoomers both suck

Get Ohio out of this picture, they will never be part of the Midwest. Id accept Nebraska and the Dakotas first before *hio

I feel the same, but "Midwest" isn't zoomer or millennial slang, it goes back to the 1800's.

fuck I hate this poser faggot, he would have thrived on current day Instagram

How fucking yound are you where you think the term "Midwest" is new. Fucking retard

Would she date an Asian NEET?

I'm all for purging *them* with nuclear hellfire, but their inclusion isn't really up to me, it's a governmental decision at this point.

Correct answer everyone else is wrong

Washington, Oregon, and Idaho are PNW.

According to the government they are just California's hat.

Commiefornia is reliant on Washington water, so fuck them. Good fruit though.

That map is so retarded

Ohio, Kansas and Missouri in Midwest

The PNW states lumped in with CA and part of the south west

Texas is in the south instead of south west

Nigger map

I'm literally 100 percent French living in France for dozens of generations back, je lui pisse à la raie à Bourdain.
He looks good and had charisma for sure, but look at how self-important he is in that photo anon, look how he picked out the most generic, stereotypical elements of what Americans think Parisians are like and chose to pose with them. Une vraie tête à claques, he was the precursor to every Youtube and Instagram travel-food content creator. I enjoy his books for light reading but that's about it.

Nigger map

It's a census map, what do you remember about your last census taker?

So this was GM chairman Roger Smith. And he appeared to have a brilliant plan: First, close 11 factories in the U.S., then open 11 in Mexico where you pay the workers 70 cents an hour. Then, use the money you've saved by building cars in Mexico to take over other companies, preferably high-tech firms and weapons manufacturers. Next, tell the union you're broke and they happily agree to give back a couple billion dollars in wage cuts. You then take that money from the workers, and eliminate their jobs by building more foreign factories. Roger Smith was a true genius.
