Piloting is piss easy, you basically just cruise the entire time. The only reason its hard to get is because you need lots of fly time to get your license and its expensive as fuck. With all the spare time and money its not really shocking that he got a license.

honestly, a problem with the Rehearsal is that it's almost too real. he sets up these really high concept theses, but they end up fizzling out because he can't actually bend reality to his will to the extent that I think he wants to. it leads to these bizarre anticlimactic resolutions, the kind of stuff that can only happen in real life. the narratives would have much more focus if they were scripted. it's still a good show and he is able to wrestle against its shortcomings to produce something entertaining, but you can tell that a lot of things don't go the way he foresaw. that's what the people calling it fake don't get. there is certainly some manipulation of reality to make it flow better on television, but it's mostly real, even more so than NFY imo (which I think was probably around 60% real as another anon said, the Rehearsal is probably closer to 80% at least).

It was a reality show satire. Many of Nathan’s ideas were illegal scams, but most of the show was definitely real to an extent and even the “fake” stuff still involved clueless people that just wanted to be on tv reacting genuinely. It was multilayered and that was always part of the joke and idea behind it. The genius of The Rehearsal is that he’s gotten way better at making it seem real or actually do it and the line is blurred even further.
