Holy shit this movie was awful. The story, pacing, characters, dialogue. Literally nothing about it is redeeming. There’s not even any hot actors. The best scene is when red hulk catches a cherry blossom and becomes sentimental enough to transform back on his own. The actual TV series was better. What the fuck was hollywood thinking?
Captain America: Brave New World
More interesting than Thunderbolts, but bad. I'd rewatch this first.
I have been trying to watch it for four nights in a row but I keep falling asleep and I'm only 45 minutes into it. Truly the sloppiest thing I've watched since Watchmen.
I couldn't make it past 15m even pirated. Turned it off, watched the end fight on a YT clip and still felt cheated.
I watched nearly all the marvel slop put out on disney plus, but when and what is there a giant fuck load of adamantium on an island? When was that ever a thing? The only thing I haven’t watched was she hulk… but getting through that slop is impossible.
Kendo is a way to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the katana.
Purpose
To mold the mind and body.[30]
To cultivate a vigorous spirit
And through correct and structured training,
To strive for improvement in the art of Kendo.
To hold in esteem courtesy and honor.
To associate with others with sincerity.
And to forever pursue the cultivation of oneself.
Thus will one be able:
To love one's country and society;
To contribute to the development of culture;
And to promote peace and prosperity among all people.
ya I don’t blame you. the story is so disjointed and there’s nothing compelling about it. it never gets compelling either. the climax is basically the attack on the president. but there’s actually not even any real villains. it’s just some weak ass nerd mind controlling people. it’s just so lame.
fuck really? was that the general Anon Babble sentiment? i watched this because im seeing thunderbolts this weekend and i wanted to catch up. ah well at least there’s popcorn and diet coke to look forward too.
Nope, the general sentiment here is that thunderbolts is better than brave new world and that thunderbolts is only flopping due to people's fatigue from previous mcu projects being shit. It's not a perfect movie by any means but it's one of the better projects post endgame
Black cap = I sleep
UNDERSTAND?
No, thunderbolts is good and better than cap4. Yeah it’s marvel but thunderbolts does feel like it has a reason to exist instead of just being complete slop
My intelligence is so superior, I can calculate the existence of the multiverse. My master plan for revenge consists of... switching Harrison Ford's heart pills for gamma pills...
Bravo, Vince.
Does Thunderbolts address Bucky's brief stint in congress? Because I still don't understand it at all.
No. It just continues on from its existence from Brave New World, where it's treated as a thing already happening that you should know about. There's no "I decided to become a congressman when..." or anything.
The man was clearly never meant for a peaceful retirement. He’s genetically engineered to explode through walls and punch bad guys until the credits roll. The movie doesn't even try to hide it.
It was a good plan. Ruins his entire legacy by turning him into the thing he hunted and was obsessed with throughout his career
Kind of? It picks up with him recently getting elected in but he realizes that the legal system works too slow so he just ends up handling shit with the arm.
I found it pretty clear desu
Bucky tries to help America through politics after decades of pure violence.
Almost inmediately realizes he fucking hates politics and just wants to go back to beating people up with his metal arm instead.
Anon, no one's saying they couldn't figure the idea out. But whether you could or not, it DOES come out of nowhere. The last time we saw Bucky he was working with Sam, and then all of a sudden he isn't anymore and he's a congressman.
America can't handle a black man wearing the stars and stripes
Did they memoryhole Rhodey getting pushed by the American government as Iron Patriot?
Apparently that doesn't count because the stars and stripes and Captain America are two different things?
In Brave New World they showed him running for Congress, so there's that. I haven't watched the movie, though, just read it here: screenrant.com
This. In brave new world we out of nowhere see him wearing a suit talking about his campaign. Like uhh ok thanks I guess but how has nobody else mentioned this before he showed up? We don't even see what convinced him to run for congress
Like what the fuck was his campaign slogan? "Vote for me! I shot JFK!" ?
trump hulk lol
Fuck no, BNW is godawful. Thunderbolts was a breath of fresher air with actual themes and metaphors and a likeable cast.
Wasn't Sam gonna kill him before people hated the test screenings?
I fell asleep watching it the first time too.
I won't be trying again. It's feels like it did when his show was on. Felt like a chore to stay awake through it.
They doubled down on stupidity. He was a good Falcon. They ruined that to get DEI points. So fuck 'em.
No, he was going to use Adamantium to drain the gamma radiation off him, and since Ross hadn't been taking his actual heart pills, his heart would seemingly give out.
But then a post-credits scene would reveal he was alive and on the run like Banner once was.
You missed the Eternals. That was a baby Celestial that was trying to be born but the Eternals aborted it before it could fully emerge. And it left that/him.
Thunderbolts was a great movie. It's a bit different than the other movies, but they did a good job. It's funny, it's sad at times but almost always entertaining. 1,000 times better than brave new world.
thunderbolts does feel like it has a reason to exist
That's a good way to explain it. brave new world was going through the motions to be checked off as next slop. Thunderbolts had spirit or something. I am unsure how to explain it.
or maybe color has nothing to do with it?
iron patriot was kino. us military iron man was cool. us military bird man is kind of fucking lame. also the way they’re dealing with racism in a subplot is lame. nick fury and black panther are just fucking bad ass. they could have made that old black boxer dude bad ass, but they chose to make him a fucking teary eyed wimp.
I think David Harbour said something along the lines of "we couldn't rely on a big name cast so we had to make a good movie" and yeah, I kinda agree with that sentiment.
With the practical effects and evidence of thought going into themes that people can actually relate to and empathize with the characters, it makes a difference.
Sam's been stripped of what made him a good side character as Falcon, but he's propped up as this hollow figure going throught the motions.
The weirdest part of all of this...days before I went to see the movie, I kept saying to people, "Teamwork makes the Dream work" Like a fucking dork & I couldn't explain why.
Exactly!
It's cray to me that he was in charge of a PTSD support group yet he treats people with PTSD like shit & it's never brought up again.
Isaiah could have been a pretty cool old super soldier, I wouldn't have even minded if they drew parallels to the Tuskagee thing. An old guy feeling bitter getting vindicated years later, maybe even getting to hold the shield and be an active part in saving people during the show? Could have been great.
But no. They were hell bent on getting him to make Sam equally as bitter.
*crazy
fuck. my bad
They were hell bent on getting him to make Sam equally as bitter.
Sounds like some of the radical feminists around. They hate men & try to force other women to hate all men too. Fucking hags
Sam being witness to the dogshit therapist Bucky has throughout FATWS and not doing a thing about helping his supposed friend deal with decades of trauma to work through was cold.
yaaa there’s no pay off. they invented him in the series and seeing him as a trainer is like oh sick that’s kind of cool he’s super strong and can fight. it’s like they foreshadowed him doing literally anything cool at all and ended up doing nothing with it. even if they would have killed him off as motivation or a moral or some shit it would have been better than he spends the movie in prison and then goes free after a bit. that’s just regular ass justice system shit. i could have just watched judge judy.
man the little screen time bucky got in this movie was retarded. like they’re watching their little mexican friend dying on the operating table and they’re talking bullshit like politics is hard bro. good fucking luck byeeee
that’s just regular ass justice system shit. i could have just watched judge judy
That was such a weird plot point. The whole character just gets so wasted at every turn. I guess they can't make the actual old guy do stunts but still, use the millions of dollars on some CGI there.
In some other universe there is the fun FAWTS buddy cop type show and following movie that we never got, where they go from begruding companions to rivals and friends.
I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. It's so fucking boring. Maybe it's because I'm not American but I genuinely don't give a fuck about government espionage military shit. Spy movies are fine but this is way too dull. Only thing I know is that Sam has a new chicano sidekick? Ok I guess, whatever.
Watch She-Hulk, its much closer to the spirit of the 2012 Avengers.
i don’t remember this scene. i’m no red skull but id hail hydra that puss
It was better than Thunderbolts for me.
Thunderbolts insists upon itself.
themes and metaphors
DEPRESSION IS... LE BAD
wow so deep
why don’t we get hot girls anymore? we went from scar jo to this? i’ve seen sexier girls on ru paul.
no bucky no zemo no watch
seriously wtf was that little goblin woman? i had to google if she had a disability
Sabra, Israel's Captain America.
forgot pic
haha ya she reminds me of mel
youtu.be
oh hey falcons i saw fish make love it’s really interesting quiet a few species of fish require 2 or more sexual partners.
sam and mexican falcon would definitely tag team mel
What’s the point of him only having one robot arm? What were they going for?
They developed a super soldier serum, cool
So then they just…chop off one arm and make it robo but not even like transforming into a gun type robo..?
Why not the rest of his limbs? They clearly mastered cyborg shit with that glasses goebbels guy
I tought he lost the arm completely from falling from that train right into the snow?
Like, even if the arm didn't become completely unusable, he probably got frostbite too
nah, I think one arm just got fucked after he fell from the train. The rest of him was fine enough for the serum, but you can't grow back an arm.
Story, Pacing, Characters, Dialogue
Would imply that this was worth watching long enough to disseminate any of these things, OP.
Blacks, Browns, Women or LGBT in the spotlight
This is how you knew it was shit from the start, so you didn't watch it in the first place, which was the correct decision. Simple as.
but Thunderbolts has a woman in the spotlight and was written by a woman, and it's a decent to good movie.
Eh..I was 'fine' compared to a lot of recent Marvel. I liked the lore callbacks. It's like one of the only standalone MCU movies with actual MCU lore in it. Which in its own way makes it unique in the franchise.
