I liked the Chucky tv show
What’s the wokest post-2010 movie or tv show you’ve genuinely(no so-bad-it’s-good copouts) enjoyed?
I liked the Chucky tv show
Arcane season 1
I liked the Acolyte.
get out
Probably like Sense8. That feels like it was made by people that needed to check boxes
The Owl House
Brooklyn Nine Nine
Moonlight was genuinely a great drama but by the very definition of what it is and what it’s about you’d be hard pressed to convince anyone here who hasn’t seen it of that being the case.
Seconding B99
Chucky tv show was fun. Only part I found incredibly cringe was the line Chucky said that Glen was "genderfluid" was really forced.
A woman turning into a doll then having sex with another doll and getting pregnant. Then the doll doesn't have a gender because it has no doll parts. Then the doll posessing her own actress to turn human, but the human was pregnant with twins, so now her genderless baby is two people, a feminine boy and a masculine girl.... is actually a hilarious and clever plot line that has NOTHING to do with transgenderism or genderfluid. It was just for fun. It's not a poltical ideology that needs to be shoehorned in.
Season two of the purge series was good. Season one sucked so I think it killed it unfortunately but two was legit.
Reminiscence. Genuine kino even though it’s set in a very typical global warming dystopia fantasy
Arcane.
The Owl House.
She Ra and the Princesses of Power.
Hazbin Hotel.
First Kill
The Last of Us.
It was actually an original take on the purge and I agree it was good.
focus on the year in between and how a purge fucks up people
Also define woke.
Is Mandalorian woke? Book of Boba?
Ahsoka?
Andor?
I liked all those
hmm probably Everything Everywhere All At Once
also parts of Doctor Who. I enjoyed it earnestly up until the woman doctor, and it was getting pretty woke by that point already. I didn't even drop it because they made the Doctor a chick, just because the writing plummeted.
A lot of Steven Universe is good
The last of us makes good use of their extra runtime by filling in the blank stories that are only told in the game through artifacts. It's what film adaptations of games should do.
I also enjoyed the props and sets on fallout even if the show is garbage.
define woke
Doctor Who
I do not think any of the shows I listed can come close to what Doctor Who turned into
I liked the new watchman show
I liked the gay blackbead show with the flight of the concords manager guy
I liked severance
Sue me
Gotham
I was gonna mention Severance but honestly it doesn't even feel that woke. the only thing is the gay plotline and it's pretty tame. or maybe my expectations are just so skewed at this point.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
show Insatiable
movies Dicks Ther Musical, Bottoms, today only gays are allowed to make funny comedies
watchman show is worth a watch but it pisses me off, it's clearly woke but at the same time really cowardly and afraid of saying anything concrete except racism bad
gotham was not woke, Penguin and Riddler are just really good friends
dear white people seasons 1 and 2 (3 was bad and 4 was a dumpster I couldn't even finish)
Sex Education S1 and S3. Had a charming John Hughesy kind of vibe. S2 and S4 are absolute horseshit
Gotham was based and camppilled
I tried to like american horror story but it was garbage.
Man, S4 was madness, what the hell were they thinking switching the setting and introducing a bunch of new characters in the final season?
"PEN15" was good.
Agreed. Also makes the same mistake as S2 in needlessly crucifying the protagonist simply because he's a straight white guy. It's so infuriating because it's so charming when the show is working
Based Owl enthusiast.
I love woke movies. I get annoyed if they're not woke enough.
Arrow.
The funniest thing about B99 is how NBC tried to reboot it right as the george floyd defund the police thing was happening and they completely ruined the characters and general vibe of the show so they could virtue signal.
as a Briton (sorry) it always rubbed me the wrong way just how insufferably NICE everyone on the show was. they dropped a lot of the 'uhh, that's a bit seedy/problematique' shit from season 1 right away.
but even actual criminal bad guys were treated as just jolly good fun, it's all smiles and hugs.
it's a police show. there are horrible police. there are horrible criminals. even for a comedy, just give me SOME characters who are cunts. ironically, i hate all of these people. no way in hell am i watching the 'serious season' where they treat 'the issues' '''seriously''' all of a sudden.
It definitely feels like a trans allegory with the whole you can be a different person in the same body thing, the fact they got Tig Notaro as "Adam Scott" to play the lead only helps my case.
silco was good as character but that's it, I'm glad at least they didn't shat on him
just give me SOME characters who are cunts.
It was pretty much only the straight male characters who were all jovial and nice, all of the female characters were cunts and the gay black boss also started out as a super serious dick.
Cyberpunk 2077
not Anon Babble
know it still the only wokesit I've ever enjoyed
She-Ra
Made by a man hating lesbian later turned tranny
Half the characters have been race swapped
Somehow it's still kino
I don't know how this happened, but it sure is something of an anomaly.
i liked the world-building and lesbian stuff.
but i dunno maybe it's because i'm a manchild and not a womanchild, there were never really conflicts like bombs or murders. it was all feelings and trauma. wasted potential.
For All Mankind is pretty woke at times and it ruins a pretty good premise for a show but I'm so starved of good sci-fi that I still enjoy it.
I wouldn't really call that woke.
Arcane season 1 I suppose, but I don't consider it woke personally. Season 2 amazingly shat the bed worse than any other show that I've seen.
