I love the atmosphere in the last handful of episodes. Just feels so bleak watching everything fall apart.
Watching Vic walk away from Ronnie while he sobs in the background etched itself in my brain. The sheer brutality of this betrayal, I've never seen in any movie/show ever and I've watched a lot of them. I really wish they'd have some cartel guy kill Vic in the last moments.
This scene really loses all its impact when you realize the only thing they had Ronnie on without Vic’s testimony was aiding and abetting. They definitely gave him a sweetheart deal to sweep all the strike team bullshit under the rug forever

True if not for the fact Ronnie admitted guilt by losing his shit and saying they would've gone fugitive together with Vic. But understandable because he couldn't have imagined Vic would turn on him so him losing his mind was realistic. No, even if with what he said in the Barn, he would still be off pretty easy but you're missing the point. Even if he didn't get any jail time, his life is still ruined and Vic still betrayed him.

Even sadder is how Lem would've reacted to Shane and Ronnie. He was always the one with the most emotional attachment to the team. The Shield really is the most tragic TV series there is.
Got a panic attack when Ronnie's arrest went down. It felt like I was about to be arrested. Never has a TV show had that effect on me. Ever.
I have to rewatch this show, man. Only seen it once and I feel guilty admitting this.

I prefer Sopranos overall but Shield's final season and episode are so much better they don't deserve to be in the same breath.
I only watched the first two seasons pretty recently, but I didn’t like it that much. Do I need to watch the rest? It all felt a bit too “TV” for me. None of the dialogue was given any time to breathe.
That problem doesn't go away but the last 3 seasons are so fucking good it's worth putting up with the show leaning into the TV tropes of 20 years ago.

Don't watch it if it isn't for you. That's common knowledge for any show.
I personally got hooked to it right off episode 1, back in 2017 when I remembered watching random episodes back when it was aring but never sticking around because episodes were too dense for me to jump into it midway.
I swear, I had a long weekend off work and I was glued to the screen, watching episode after episode and stopping just to cook something or go to the bathroom.
I really need to rewatch it slowly one of these days.

Sopranos and Shield are not comparable in any way. Sopranos is like an elevated soap opera while The Shield is a 7 season action thriller. Apples and oranges.
I felt the same way but it gets a whole lot better. It's one of my favorite shows, now.
Every single person I've showed it to has come away singing its praises and putting it above anything else. I don't understand how FX is not marketing the shit out of this masterpiece and instead Sopranos/Wire/Breaking Bad steal the popularity it should've had.

I think it gets a lot of revisionist praise here because you can speedwatch and the cheesy bullshit serialized old cable nature and other flaws are easier to ignore
Like myself and other anons have said though, the last 3 seasons are a great watch, it's like condensing the best of the show into it's purest form while the showrunners, writers, and producers found their groove
