I remember liking the first couple seasons but really the only episodes I still remember were the ones where they mess up the timeline and the Mr. Meeseeks episodes. Oh I guess I remember the alien parasite episode too. I remember Pickle Rick but not fondly although I think that's season 3. I tried an episode after a few years because a friend was watching it and it was the Planetina episode. Legitimately one of the worst episodes of anything I've ever seen. Zero jokes, melodrama played completely straight. There was a scene where Morty unironically yells at his mom "You just don't understand!" and runs to his room crying. Again, played completely straight. No jokes before or after and they played emotional music. Who is the audience for something like that? Haven't watched since and don't plan on it.

The first episode of the series made so many promises i don't think they ever lived up to. The show got real bad real fast. I knew it was truely over when they tried to make "schwifty" a thing. That was one of the worst things ive ever seen that people tried to tell me was good

Pickle Rick is when the show went off the tracks. It appealed to the "SO RANDOM" fanbase and everyone started acting like the chink who wrote it was a genius. After that instead of being Reddit with undertones of Anon Babble they became even more Reddit as influenced by lefty Twitter.
Pickle rick would have worked if turned the therapist into a pickle after her gay little speech. Rick should never get emotionally bruised.

I'm pretty sure there was just a massive market for merch that was even bigger than the show and it ended up becoming what it was parodying because of it.
That's Amorte really could have used Roiland's improv to sell it. It was still very good. I feel like with Roiland gone, they've stopped shying away from 'classic Rick & Morty adventures' so much.

It was a good back and forth. Rick made really great points about therapy, Wong also made some good points. It's the only time I've seen anyone make a decent criticism of therapy on television. It's always either a 'you're a dumb chud you don't do therapy' gag, or a 'you're lame you do therapy' gag, but TV hates saying it's just a waste of time and money for a lot of people.
He wasn't 'emotionally bruised', he was just figuring out that Beth was going to make this a big deal if he didn't do it, and that maybe Morty and Summer could benefit from it.
It was just really weird that the follow up was Rick just going to therapy and talking about it like it was anything more than a transaction he's doing to make Beth happy so she doesn't kick him out. Completely undercut anything in that first episode.

I disagree. It was a jump the shark episode and I believe that, in time, more people will converge on that opinion and pretend they held it all along. I thought it was bad the first time I saw it. You could tell the writing was way different from what came before and those involved were both coasting and taking themselves too seriously. Rick and Morty had a huge market for secondary merch and "Pickle Rick" was geared toward that.

Seasn 6 is the worst one, I couldnt even finish it, I stopped in the middle of that episode with the meta bug or some shit, it was genuinrly so terrible. Yet the worst episode is from season 7, that one with the teacher and the numbers

Harmon seems like more of a vanilla simp type (hence letting female writers ruin the show). I think the perverted shit was sown by Roiland and lends itself to the "writers thinly veiled fetish" meme.
