Its a dominance thing. There are a lot of predatory animals that don't like it if you look them in the eye. They see it as you challenging them. You'll see it among themselves, one will come over and the other will look down and away so as not to look them in the eye. They established it as being territorial. So imagine you have people come into its territory then look right at it. Now its doubly pissed off and will hunt them until it regains what it thinks its dominance over an entire area. And if it hasn't eaten you yet it knows you're still there

Who says there is only one. UFOs get seen all over the world. Something like 40% of the worlds population lives within 60 miles of a coast. The rest of the population clusters near water inland. That leaves a lot of empty space not occupied by humans where those things could live, picking off migratory animals moving through their territory
