shit's like prequel levels of bad
What went so fucking wrong?
shit's like prequel levels of bad
Not even close
It’s actually worse than TFA. What a massive piece of shit
I never watched it entirely because I always fall asleep
You are cattle
I fucking hate this new meta of acting like RotJ is unwatchable trash, Temple of Doom is the "best" Indy movie, and Ghostbusters 2 is "bad".
It's the bored contrarian meta.
The cinematography was great in new hope and empire but bland and uninspired in Jedi. How did they drop the ball so badly?
I always liked temple of doom the best thoughever
The prequels are worse
This thread is just bait like every thread.
Reminder that Ackbar was introduced in RotJ
Nothing, this movie was perfect, the pinnacle of Star Wars and cinematic storytelling. Anybody who disagrees is simply a reptile or insect.
ROTJ being bad was always a thing. Niggas have been bitching about Ewoks since before you were born.
Easily the best movie directed by Richard Marquand
the prequels make Return of the Jedi look like Citizen fucking Kane - Rich Evans
George Lucas shadow directed it and since he's a hack it turned to shit like his other masterpieces such as the prequels and "Red Tails"
It has a lot of problems
the plan to rescue Han is convoluted and makes no damn sense
Boba Fett is killed in the most unsatisfactory way
Han is pointless for most the film despite how hard the characters work to save him.
the second death star is such a lazy rehash even if the space battle is fucking amazing
Endor is poorly paced and takes up too much of the run time.
The ewoks may be cute but they really aren't compelling enough to believe they could defeat the Empire
Yoda and especially Ben are sort of shoehorned in just to reinforce that Vader is indeed Luke's dad rather than to give any sort of last words of wisdom.
Endor is a rather visually monotonous environment and doesn't lend itself as well to the scifi setting as Tatoonie, Hoth, or cloud city.
I really hate that fucking Yub Nub song. It was Jedi Rocks before Jedi Rocks
Now to be fair just about everything revolving around Luke redeeming Vader is fucking peak star wars. Those scenes alone are what elevate Return despite all of its numerous problems.
WTF
Temple of Doom is the "best" Indy movie
It was always my favourite growing up. I never realised people considered it bad until around the year 2000. I really couldn't give a fuck though, it's still the best.
...That's part of what makes Star Wars so available to children, and I wanted to go back to that sort of presentation in Jedi rather than the highly sophisticated, sexy way in which Kirschner made Empire
contrarian
Shove it up your neo cunt tranny.
>Boba Fett is killed in the most unsatisfactory way
because nobody cared about this character. he had 1 line of dialogue. only through stale worshipper culture where every single frame had to be overanalyzed for decades was his character elavated to some significance that never existed. if george made the movie in 2002 boba would have been some CGI alien. you're correct about the rest.
Lucas, Kershner and Marquand
Subverted expectation before it was "cool"
these fucking lunatics keep talking about the force, that dude with the armor abd lightfleshlights. It's a movie for kids with cool toys and shit for christ sake... you know what, I'm gonna add fucking teddy bears for the next one.
The first half is so good too. What went wrong was the same shit that always happens with these types of franchises. They get bigger and more popular, the audience broadens, and then it's partly marketed to children. Same shit happened with every major 80s and 90s franchise.
how fucking wholesome would it be if baby yoda and the ewoks linked up??
IT WAS A GOOD MOVIE, it was very good.
A New Hope/Empire Strikes Back: produced by Gary Kurtz
Return of the Jedi: produced by Howard Kazanjian
Prequel trilogy: produced by Rick McCallum
Not as good as the Kurtz movies, but still better than the McCallum movies
the fact that Reddit Letter Media thinks Citizen Kane is the ideal for Star Wars to strive towards illustrates how utterly contemptible any of their opinions are
Nigger it doesn't matter whether he was important or not. This guy thats supposed to be a threat to our team is killed by a fucking bling guy by accident. It fucking sucks.
shes my wifu
Are you aware that she's a child?
Nigger
please dont say that Captain.
I was a child when it came out, shes older than me so
Star Wars (1977)
The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Return of the Jedi (1983)
RotJ is the only OT movie influenced by the success of Indiana Jones
I always liked Temple of Doom better than Raiders. I never realized people thought it was bad either. Last Crusade is really good and the strongest movie. To me, each movie just kept better and better.
Star Wars only works in the setpieces. The bar in Mos Eisley. The trenches of the Death Star. Dagobah swamp. Fighting AT-ATs on Hoth. Any time it diverts from that it's shit. Endor is a bad setpiece. Goes on forever and isn't cool.
Those are some valid points. I'd debate a couple of them, but even as a ROTJ enjoyer I'm not above recognizing its faults. George got too indulgent in paying homage to pulp adventure with Jabba's Palace and everything Endor, and it clashes with the themes that make the movie good.
They never said this thoughbiet
Endor is a bad setpiece
a phrase uttered only by insecure midwit subhumans
Last Crusade is really good
It has some of the best stuff from almost of the movies and the stuff with his dad worked really well but temple of doom is still my favourite.
It's dogshit
I don't understand why people hate ROTJ the whole Tatooine sequence is kino
the OT is fucking great, its a masterpiece of mythic art like the world has never seen before, yes even the Ewoks are kino.
And that's fair. It's hard to compare the two, they do different things. Indy saving kids vs the holy grail? I think Temple of Doom nailed the horror aspect and crusade nailed the journey. It's like comparing mario 3 to mario world, they're both good.
1986 is when people started to look at George Lucas in a slightly different way
I found the temple a frightening but compelling concept as a child plus the soundtrack and set pieces are great too.
