30 year franchise ends on a shit note

stuntslop

they'll just reboot it with Ethan as the villain like they did the protag of the og show lmao

mission impossible

13 fucking movies

seems quite possible to me

I'm predicting more walkouts than any other summer movie by far, like it will become the film's legacy. I tried watching a cam and it's unbearable, the entire first hour is like an ai generating a cruise movie to torture your mind

They did that with Bond as well. Go rogue.

I thought it was good.

you're WRONG

OP is The Entity

Ethan as the villain

they've been setting this up since ghost protocol

Looks like Tom finally hit the wall.

I haven't seen part 2 yet, but I feel like the whole AI plotline from 1 was just a convoluted mess.
Are the stunts at least cool?

It was all those buckets of popcorn. The popcorn Jew was the one that got to him.

1xbetcamripbros hows the quality camrip looking?

If I were Tom Cruise I'd make sure the final film in my magnum opus franchise was a massive dud. I'd want to discourage the studio from trying to one day reboot it and recast me.

Should have ended with part 2

the only reason the series got as far as it did was because they cast rebecca ferguson

Reminder all nu wars is faggot shit.

I appreciate that Tom was willing to do the stunts and everything for these movies.
But the 1st movie was the best, the most cinematic, the most kino.
The others just turned into action slop. though 2 was fun with John Woo.
It really did just become less about espionage spy kino and more about "OH I DID A HECKIN STUNT"

What.gif - 406x300, 3.17M

Why would you think this is the end? Cruise doesn't plan on retiring, ever.

I just came home from the theater. What do you guys want to know about the movie?
What I can say is it has one scene that really awesome film wise to watch.
The last stunt of the movie really, really awesome too.

Starts out okay but it gets "meh" towards the middle and the ending is kind of bland. The previous movie sets up a lot of shit; I like the Entity and all the religious imagery going on with it, the AI God emerging and the New World Order and Gabriel being described as a Zealot, all the conspiracy theory sounding crap; early on in the movie when Tom gets into that digital coffin to see the entity and the entity is this giant digital eye... It's the over the top sort of thing that I was expecting for a series finale, but the movie doesn't really deliver; Tom hanging from a moving plane and Gabriel accidentally killing himself, it's all kind of underwhelming.

It'll get a soft reboot because the story is so fucking convoluted, but he won't be the villain. Nobody wants to see anyone other than Tom as the lead in this series. They tried it with Jeremy Renner, who wasn't even a bad choice.

They should've not killed Rebecca Ferguson, without her the franchise is unwatchable

This movie gives the thief girl a rifle and implies it's because she could need it to shoot a bear, which would have been cool but it never fucking happens, just a waste of runtime and this movie is full of that running almost 3 hours. I didn't lool into its running time before watching it like I normally do but I´m glad I caught a relatively early showing, I'd have been pissed to come out of this close to midnight. Submarine scenes were cool though.

FPBP

Maybe he'll stop with these MI movies finally and do some sci fi movies.

That part inside the submarine is an incredible piece of filmmaking. I was just stunned at how good it was.

He already did Edge of Tomorrow and there was a project to film him in space unless that got canned.

Every movie since Ghost Protocol has just been one big tax-deductible daredevil vacation for Tom Cruise.

Clint Eastwood directed a movie at 95 years old. Some people seem to be out to defy fate to have them die on set and Cruise is probably one of them.

Movie was way too long. We didn't need Hannah Waddingham in the movie. Gabriel is a goof.

movie was shit but I got atwell tiddies so it was ok.

Cruise should definitely direct more space/scifi focused love drama.

The Internet and AI turn you evil and zombie

At least they got some things right.

ai stories are always convoluted messes, cause humans can't comprehend or prepare for an actual exponential ai

It harry pottered itself. Once they stuck with McQ there is no going back.

This is how I felt.

Way too many flashbacks

Runtime dragged

Gabriel intimidation factor drastically reduced

Tom Cruise vanity project

Overall I liked it, but it lacked a distinct MI essence.

The sea/submarine/plane scenes are great but I don't think I'd want to find the time to watch this again. Smuggle the biggest burger you can to watch it, it's almost 3 hours and that includes endless flashbacks.

Tom gets into that digital coffin to see the entity and the entity is this giant digital eye... It's the over the top sort of thing that I was expecting for a series finale

So he literally copied the ending to Oblivion? Interesting because the Top Gun 2 director directed Oblivion.
I dnf DR but FR was more like opting out of a beta mind control experiment. The first 40 mins is like a live-action infomercial for Cruise, reminiscent of his cult leader in Magnolia unironically. The choreography of the early dungeon opener plays like Cruise doing an ARG in an actors' gym.

No way normies will tolerate this. Hispanics will ask for refunds, the few blacks who go didn't pay but they'll vocally revolt or worse. If Cruise didn't have such a reservoir of goodwill after Top Gun, this movie would make him a punchline ngl

It's not really a 30 year franchise. The movies from 4 forward are completely different than the first three. May as well say the show is the same as the movies, lol.

Even when she didn't use it to shoot a bear, the Eskimo woman still has that rifle during the finale and I was like

Okay, they established she can shoot because polar bears. She's going to kill one of the antagonists to save the world and it'll be ironic that the singularity AI was foiled due to some random snow monkey with an old M1 Garand

But then nobody fires that rifle. This movie's fails Chekhov's gun

is the gabriel actor a scientologist? how tf did he get cast as the big bad for 2 final movies?

More frustrating because the rifle is old-timey and they kept using stuff like old airplanes and floppy disks to avoid the AI

i nope'd out after the first one

Latam here. It was okay, but did drag some. The sub part was good, it was just him against the environment (would've sucked in the ruskies somehow sent some of theirs to dive).
The final challenge, however...

Podkova combined with the virus are somehow wireless, Benji's sensor can know when the virus did its job (ok, maybe Luther had a transmitter in his jig... but aren't they in a super locked down impenetrable fortress?)

100ms half-indiana-jones gimmick (half since the critical time is just about removing the magical flash drive, inserting it was not an issue)

I was expecting the rifle to do something as well...

The whole AI menace thing had a decent build up in the first movie (remember that both movies were produced before the whole AI consumer market), but it falls short, partly helped by typical hollywood ignorance of how computers fucking work.

On a somewhat related note:
youtube.com/watch?v=4wgH4szXiqU
LLM AI was tasked with managing a simple business, and failed in various ways: some ended up hallucinating badly, another in particular went full fucking nuclear obliteration (in its "mind") and gave a time limit of 1s to comply against what it perceived to be a threat. Good thing these models aren't given control of real world scenarios... right!?
Pic related needs to be drilled deep in the brains of any retard who thinks delegating the whole process of decision making to AI is a good idea.

Who would be the new Ethan? Michael B Jordan? Chalamet? Some random zoomer slut?

Fallout was really good.
Its weird how they did not bring another big name to be opposite Tom.
Suspicious even.

Haven’t watched a single one

I really enjoyed Fallout. When I got to the cinema back then, there was an interactive 'game' with a box where you had to flip some switches and disarm the device. Got a poster and other cool stuff from that... Still have 'em.

What’s snake eater got to do with your interesting last paragraph ?

Well this is DEFINITELY the thread for you then, isn’t it? Thanks for coming, mate

They'll do Paris, especially if the Ballerina movie breaks out.

Wrong copypasta, sorry. Just saw that opening trailer minutes ago.
I posted the actual video I meant right after.

was there more Pom leg squeezing?

It was no worse than the last 3

That guy made the best one in the series. But everyone here seethes him for their own American industry plant.

This isn't MGS4, the guns aren't connected to the internet

Is Tom Cruise a britaboo, most of the women in these movies are british

No names are always in M.I and James Bond until a little lately. I would flash it completely out with the best of the best, Screw saving a few dollar on the top ones.

It remains they devoted an inordinate amount of time tixating on old technology yet they couldn't produce a simple or couple rifle shooting scenes even merely for coolness. This movie needed a liposuction.

You mean 29 years.
Weird they didn’t push the movie to 2026. Studios normally love that type of gimmick

It was already delayed a bunch thanks to covid.

Yeah but if guy has any dignity he will bury mission impossible movies and move to something else. I'd like to see something entitely else from Tom, like some Noir kino.
