lalo is joel's father

fucking LOL

I guess I don’t really understand what “complicit heterosexuality” means

complicit.jpg - 1569x1378, 664.03K

How is Joel so sure they could have made a cure? He says so both in the game and the show

158878009.jpg - 896x1368, 163.81K

it means society rewards everyone for being hetero with a greater level of social acceptance, so you unconsciously end up playing along to some extent even if its emotionally harmful.

How is she melting already? She's like 20

Apologise.

druckmann.jpg - 1200x1942, 179.38K

because he is guilty for a lot of the same reasons as Ellie and that's the version of events that lets him beat himself up the most.

why is it so important that she is hot?
why are you sexualizing a child? weird

she's over 18, literally old enough to star in the porn you fap to.

Be nice

Fat sluggish old face

how and why? Her acting is terrible I can't take this show seriously anymore. It was tolerable in S1 for some reason but this season have been garbaaaaaaage

disgust.png - 697x943, 521.37K

kills Joel

kills Jesse

seemingly kills Tommy as season 2 ends

Normies are about to go full Abby hate mode for the next two years

AgzoOQk.jpg - 413x738, 82.27K

No one hates cute women

Post some Dever pics please.

This story is so weak, drawn out and repetitive. I don't trust you gamers at all. There's no chance this is simply a bad adaption, there's no way the underlying story was ever actually good.

Part II is a masterpiece
This adaptation is crap
Cope and rope

The game unironically flows better because there's constant hooks to keep the player engaged. The only instances I thought it got a bit boring was the flashbacks and even then there weren't that many.

I don't trust you gamers at all

You really think an action zombie game would have a good writing or a story? Yea It's good for a video game standard but if you're a Anon Babble watcher and know things the game story and writing is like 6/10 at best. It's nothing crazy, but does some minor things very good.

In the show the WLF have shown up 3 times
The seraphites have appeared twice
If I hadn't played the game I would be baffled by this plot

Play. The. Game.
its free on torrents

selfishly wants to go back to the town and risk everyones lives just to see his wife again

Joel just following procedure

Why is he the bad guy again?
The post apocalyptic world in tlou is weird. Do they forget they are in a zombie filled world where they can die at any second?

eugene.jpg - 739x415, 30.5K

the fact that the porch scene was so early suggests Mazin has a more interesting idea for how to tie up the story than "feel sad for Ellie and Joel because they killed a billion people".

most people agree that the Part 2 story doesn't work, that doesn't mean something can't be extracted from it by adding more than just basic sentimentality.

How do bullets kill fungi zombies

HOLY FUCK IT'S LALOOOOO

he isn't the bad guy.
Bella is mad because she recognizes that he tells people what they want to hear and as a way of being treated more like the good guy. it makes her see his lie to her as a conscious manipulation which strikes at the heart of their relationship.

Because Cuckmann realized he forgot to write those stakes as people rejected his false dilemma do he backtracked and tried to change it after the fact by having the characters pretend those were the stakes.
It’s like when Lucas tries to write the already unredeemable asshole Anakin as a good guy by randomly having a “saves a clone” scene after battles where they bite it by the millions.
These are amateur writer mistakes that are excused by deranged fans and their headcanon only because of the pricetags on the projects.

IMG_7194.jpg - 689x676, 276.51K

Kys

The pacing makes no sense. The characters randomly forget they’re in mortal danger. Burning episodes on a gay romance sideshow or an entire episode of a flashback to what was already pretty spelled out is crazy. They’re making these tight 10 episode or so shows but they don’t script them like “10 hour movies” like they pretend they are. They want little bottle episodes of some bullshit like they were doing 20 of these. I don’t get it and it’s not just this show.

joel bonding with an uggo

suspension of disbelief only goes so far

Why is no one discussing Isabela Merced’s rapid weight gain?
Did she spend the last 9 months since the 2nd season was filmed binge eating?

IMG_1955.jpg - 1170x1462, 201.13K

most people agree that the Part 2 story doesn't work

It works perfectly until the very end where Ellie's reasons for sparing Abby aren't conveyed as clearly as they could've

The first one is good(And far better then season 1), the second is just as big of a dumpster fire as the show.

Jesus fucking Christ, what the fuck happened?

Druckmann kind of forgot to setup that Ellie was starting to feel conflicted about Abby at all, so it came off as too much of a le epic subversion.

look for Mazin to create ambiguity well in advance as to whether Ellie is storming the Rattler stronghold to kill Abby or to rescue her.

I don't watch this but holy SHIT this pukebrown muddy 0 colors "muh prestige drama" look looks like ABSOLUTE FUCKING SHIT AND I HATE IT, fuck the guy who made this a thing

Part II is a very gritty, dark tale. It's deliberately uncomfortable for large chunks of it, it's full of flashbacks, perspective switches and information that's kept hidden to the player until a vital point.
Season 2 is afraid of challenging it's audience, the dialogue is in your face and removes all subtlety that the characters feel, it's flashbacks are misplaced where their meaning is lost. Characters give exposition both to the audience and to themselves because HBO is too fucking scared to give some suspense to the audience and make them actually think.
Combining the Salt Lake scene with the poarch and putting it in the middle of the narrative (counting Season 3) is such an misinterpretation of Part II's story and themes as a whole. They fucked up everything.

Predictions for the next episode? It looks like Ellie is going to the seraphite island and no sign of the aquarium. Maybe she finds Owen and Mel there?

She’s a beaner in her 20s. Happens to all of them

Last of Us star Isabela Merced has said that filming is not expected to begin on season 3 until all the way in 2026.

le games

making people think

yeah they make you think about how you just killed 200 people to get a lesson about how killing people is bad.

It hasn’t happened to Jenna Ortega and Xochitl
Why’s it happened to Moner specifically?

Hawkgirl needs to be aerodynamic and Merced misinterpreted that to mean "look like a balloon".

There was seraphite fights in Ellie Day 3 in the boat section.

I imagine that ep 7 will be day 3, going to the acquairiam, killing Owen and his gf and then ending on the theatre cliffhanger maybe.

apparently the ending of the season WON'T be super depressing. I think they need to delay Jesse dying until next season and might completely change the sequence of events to accomplish that... but who knows.

Why is season 2 only 7 eps long?

IMG_1954.jpg - 1112x1095, 566.32K

Did anyone else notice they showed Dina getting shot with the arrow in the recap

How do you even deal with that semi realistically in this kind of world

She's gonna have that arrowhead in her leg until she dies

*hasn’t happened to Jenna Ortega yet
FTFY

Give it 3 years

maybe not a serrated arrowhead.
archery range arrows aren't designed to stick in people and I don't feel like the Seraphites are forging their own arrowheads.

I think if they end on a cliffhanger and then go to Abby’s story in season 3 without resolving the cliffhanger in season 2 it will be very jarring

The self insert therapist was barely in this ep

everythingwentbetterthanexpected.jpg

I was seriously expecting her to lecture Joel

slampig Monerboner

don't feel like the Seraphites are forging their own arrowheads

Why not? Their whole thing is living off the land and making everything themselves

Isnt the very last scene of ep6 with Ellie already infront of the theatre?

Screenshot_.jpg - 2425x1425, 290.77K

in TV there is a term called putting characters on a bus. so if they want to cut to Abby they need to create a natural resolution point for Ellie and co, so they aren't (e.g.) frozen in time waiting to go through a door. leaving on a mission to Seraphite island could be a way to do that.

maybe in the show Nora tells Ellie that Abby has already been captured by the Seraphites: so Ellie sets off alone to kill her while also creating a justification for flashing back to find out how she got caught.

That’s because Ellie goes back to the theatre to tell Jesse and Dina that he knows where Abby is. After some persuading I guess she manages to convince Jesse to come and help her, then they go out and day 3 plays out, and after the acquarium she goes back to the theatre once more

Oh, right. I vaguely remember the game.

that's tommy? so they casted both of them as spics?

which is a new term that I learned

Fucking lmao, I can't with these zoomers man

In the preview we see Jesse and Ellie running up the theatre like in the theatre cliffhanger, so I definitely think they are ending on that cliffhanger (or showing the fight itself, which I think is more likely)

Well it wouldn’t make a lot of sense if only one of them was a spic now would it?

They made Tommy's kid a nigger.

Maybe his wife told him it's normal for one kid to be Mexican.

I think the pileup of arbitrary developments around this point of the game is one of the places where it really turns to shit, so I'm hoping for large digressions.

the idea of a big cliffhanger where we already know what is going to happen (and are going to have to wait at least 18 months for season 3) is particularly weak. but killing off Jesse this season or in his first episode next season also feels like it would stupid.

remember we already had Jesse finding Dina and Ellie because Ellie left a map behind, and in the game Abby finds her way to the theatre for the same reason. so either Mazin is changing things or he's giving up and hiding behind Druckmann's existing writing.

Druckmann kind of forgot to setup that Ellie was starting to feel conflicted about Abby at all

What are you saying, Ellie hates and doesn't stop hating Abby, it's only when she (Ellie) gets over her own guilt of how she (Ellie) treated Joel is when she allows her to let her (Abby) go

I personally don’t believe the layout for part 2 works well for two seasons because the cliffhanger for the first half of the game is so jarring. The confrontation of Ellie and Abby finally occurs and then it’s left on pause and we have to go through several hours of content (Abby’s section) to find out what happens on the cliffhanger.
It’s very jarring for a video game, but would be absolutely horrendous for a tv show where there’s almost a two year wait between seasons.

The only way I see them sort it out and make it less jarring is to have the Ellie and Abby fight at the end of season 2 in my opinion. Leaving a cliffhanger at the end of season 2, waiting two years only to have it not being resolved until 80% of season 3 is done is so bad

The weak should fear the strong

No one on Anon Babble has a respectable gaming rig

Why would they even try to make a "cure"? First off, it could not unshroom the half dead shroom zombies. Second, it literally made fungi grow inside Ellie's head, you don't want that in a general population. What if person can only temporarily (years) retain function, and then turn into shroom zombie later randomly, unexpectedly? What if they start to infect other people without realising it (like the spore spreaders in the hospital basement)? What if it makes people infertile? What if it create some even worse mutants? What if it makes the next gen fungi creatures more intelligent? Also firefly group have known Ellie's backstory, so it's a reach to assume it would work on any adults. Joel did the right thing, but for the wrong reason, as in it was impssobile to have a good outcome from any cure attempts, and it would be playing god with gene editing, so kill them off before they create a monster specie. Otherwise letting an uggo girl die for an actual noble cause would not be that bad, so killing fireflies was needed only for saving humanity reasons.

She is aging poorly, and the acting is very off, as in almost like an acting school performance, that have no idea about actual human behaviour. What one can think of, as an attempt to keep disbelief suspended, is to think her (characters) face is deformed from the fungi inside her head.

sounds like we basically agree, just have to wait to see if they do something different and what.

that doesn't make any sense psychologically. Joel's lie to Ellie isn't what sets Abby on a revenge quest to kill Joel, it's what Joel actually did that caused that. so in order to forgive Abby, Ellie ought to learn to see that Abby is like herself instead and understand why killing Joel made sense (from Abby's POV).

if you watched the inside the episode Neil mentions himself crying while filming the porch scene. he has no ability to detach himself from the material, hence why using yet another Joel scene to make all the zoomer gamers cry seemed like a good ending to him.

Lalo saved the show

Who is lalo people keep mentioning that name

The moral compass of the people writing this garbage is so blatantly liberal. Joel is the bad guy because he refused to "trust the science" and murdered a bunch of doctors who, we as the audience are supposed to believe, would have had a 100% chance of extracting and manufacturing a cure from cutting open a 14 year old girl's brain. He didn't #trustthescience and he didn't #believewomen so he must get his head bashed in.

IM MIDWAY THROUGH THIS DOGSHIT EPISODE AND IM WONDERING IF THEY PUT UP AN EARLIER EPISODE BY ACCIDENT?

Fuck this show SUCKS. Fuck the show runner holy shit

The moral compass of the people writing this garbage is so blatantly liberal.

yeah it's a HBO show lol
who do you think subscribes to HBO

Why is Ellie so fucking stupid.

How come all of S2 disappeared from rarbg?

that doesn't make any sense psychologically

Cool opinion that's not backed by anything

so in order to forgive Abby, Ellie ought to learn to see that Abby is like herself instead and understand why killing Joel made sense (from Abby's POV)

You're out of your fucking mind if you think Abby having a "valid" reason for killing Joel would in any way make a difference for Ellie and it's preposterous you dared to write the previous sentence

What's a swore?

swohr.png - 1920x1080, 1.47M

I'm playing the game right now. Just finished with Abby's day 3 actually.

I dunno, she kinda gets likeable in the game. Even our nigga Lev does. I wanted to a be a proper chud and dislike her, but can't for some reason. If anyway, Ellie comes off worse in Seattle imo. Druckmannistic manipulation, I guess.

I'm spoiled about the ending, of course, but it's different to see things play out yourself. I'll see how I feel about it then.

Bella is horribly miscast. I cant see them do the misery porn ending of tlou2 with bella sitting alone by herself with missing fingers trying to play the guitar and then the credits roll. She looks like a retarded down syndrome kid. It would be too cruel. The normie audience would absolutely hate it as well. What are the odds they change the ending for the show entirely? Theyve already changed so much.

Ellie was more of a cunt than usual in this flashback. Did she not get her period until she was 19? What a piece of shit.

it's just a fictional premise you have to accept, like there being fungal zombies that survive for decades without food
To the characters, their belief is that there would've been a cure, and so the drama plays out based on that.

that scene in the rocket where it shows Bella's mouth open from the side and her teeth are sticking out

Bongbros...

Why does she swear with the energy of a 12 year old trying to sound badass and hardcore?
She's a fucking bong, she should know how to swear casually.

straight

buff as fuck

beats up infected barehanded

conquer her fear of heights

avengers her father

escapes the shithole that is Seattle

Abby is the MVP of Part II

imo ellie definitely continues the vengeance beyond reason because she's also mad at herself for how she treated joel and how she didn't get to forgive him

i want to remake tlou with millie as abby and me as joel if you catch my drift

To be fair the oldest fungus on Earth is at least 2.5 thousand years old and all it needed was some soil and tree roots.

Too bad she can't stealth dab on clickety-clackers (or buff Seraphites) without a shiv though.

daily calorie norm in a single serving alone

Good. My latina wife is gaining weight so she can bear strong and healthy children for me.

People survived it back in the stone age and the iron age. They had no medical knowledge or resources to speak of.
It’s the post apocalypse but they have antibiotics, alcohol swabs, they can do basic surgery and understand what signs of infection are.
Over time your body will try to either expel the foreign bodies, pushing them to the surface, or encapsulate them in nodules as they tear tissue around them. Lots of people walking around with shrapnel even with modern medicine.

Shut up, Anakin's character was perfect

I was shot in the back of my hand with a high powered BB gun and it got lodged in me. Sometimes I could feel my body pushing it towards my skin. Eventually it got to the surface and looked like a flesh colored pimple. I lanced it and out came the BB. Took like ten years though.

because it's obvious in both the game and the show that they would've made it. Your refusal to accept it borders on mental illness. Imagine fighting a plotpoint from the video game so desperately for 5 years just because you didn't like it

Flashback episodes are the worst.
This show sucks now.

she's seventeen you sick fuck

lmao

abby is very likeable desu

mfw no ziegler

239329381.gif - 640x358, 1.07M

The game only explains that Joel believed in it. "Maybe, I was starting to buy into that whole... cure business, or maybe I was trying to do right by her"
The writers have never officially said that it would work, we just know that Joel believed it would have and if im being honest thats enough for the story to work.

entire threads of gentiles trying to rationalize jewish "morality"

Lol

The only thing I'm here is Moner posting. Don't care about the rest.

Thanks for the honesty Ranjesh, you're all right

The story was solid before they turned Ellie into a dyke and made the series about lgbt propaganda

abby being likeable is the entire point
you're replaying joel and ellie but it's abby and lev
don't let insane tlou2 haters confuse you, the game is good

I'm still mad the halo TV show was so shit. Like what the fuck. Imagine if they made a decent gears of war show that would be awesome. Ik current year it will never happen though

That's why I keep saying the game was too ambitious. They made Abby less attractive on purpose (among other things) but it all relies on people willing to give her a chance, or at least stick with it to the end. I mean it all worked for me but the game would've enjoyed more success if it compromised.

Shame you got spoiled, I was taken for a ride the first time I played the game. My jaw dropped when I realised I'm going to re-live the 3 days but as Abby

The game wasn't good either, The Last of Us 2 was The Last Jedi of video games and likewise the narrative that it was a high concept masterpiece which transcended puerile low media literacy chud fanboys was the death throes of a journalism sector that's all but gone extinct since.

Top of the line AMD x3d chip

Speak for yourself, poor

Damn buddy, must have been quite a shocker.

Also Jesus, imagine all that insane stuff Abby goes through, the rat king, everything on the island, and then she comes back to the aquarium with dead Mel and Owen.

When she says to Ellie, "we let you live and you wasted it", it's a really strong line.

The cure crap is retarded, zombies wants to kill you and eat you anyways.
This episode was terrible, they could have used the radio to make him call, Joel and Ellie are both retarded in the tv show

king henry the vth got shot right in the fucking eye and they managed to pull it out and save him idk

Great acting by Pedro desu.

The third season was literally greenlit at the end of the first season. How is that even possible? I swear it's some jewish plot to make it so every single series has three years between seasons now. What is so hard about filming these things every year?

When she says to Ellie, "we let you live and you wasted it", it's a really strong line.

eh it's a bit corny and contrived.
generally by that point in the game, characters are just behaving like extensions of Druckmann anyway.
remember that Abby just randomly decides to not kill Ellie and Dina and Tommy because Lev shouts "Abby!" at her. it's like she already knows that killing Jesse is going to be enough to shock the player. not great character writing.

She was hitting the gym for hawkgirl but i guess her diet of chicken and broccoli activated her latina genes

even if the game works for you, its very much because you go "oh I see what they're doing". the withholding of information ends up feeling like a clever gimmick rather than the organic unfolding of a story.

if it was a movie we'd have had a chronological cut of it and could compare, but its a game so the order they chose to give us the info is what we're stuck with.

The third season was literally greenlit at the end of the first season

no it was greenlit recently after the premier of season 2 got good ratings.

we had something awesome for a while there

top lel

its very much because you go "oh I see what they're doing"

Probably fair.

Her vast moonface and soulless beady eyes actually piss me off, why the fuck did they have to cast her of all people

Wait, wasn't RARBG supposed to be dead?

I really hope they do it EXACTLY like the game. I want him to die like a random enemy NPC.

lmao Jessie dies next episode and he's had even less screen time and character development than in the game

Why are they called Miller when they are all spics?

It's over... chuds lost

They purposely cast her as a joke.

why didn't lalo finish/chug his beer before he left?

It's somewhat jarring how bad of an actress Bella Ramsey is

yeah. I wonder how Mazin feels about all this, and whether he's maintaining a false front while secretly thinking Druckmann is a deluded idiot thinking structuring the story like this will work.

because the game Joel and Tommy were not spics.
Dina was also aggressively jewish in the game.
Ellie was also a feminine redhead.
Tommys wife wasnt black as night.
Abbey was a roidfreak giant and not a 5'2 scrawny girl with a cute butt.
Nora was black with hair not a bald mystery mongloid meat freak
Etc. etc.

the tv show is more a tumblr reimagine of an already pozzed story.

Lalo and Pedro are white passing so their family took white surname.

I've noticed a lot of white passing jews or whites in tlou are casted as latinx and white couples are erased/killed

some of the most aztec looking cast is white passing

yeah the 56% meme must be 86% actually

Ellie was also a feminine redhead.

Bella behaving way more masculine in the show is unironically one of my favorite things about it. it rescues her from seeming like an anime character.

Bella behaving way more masculine i

retarded take. Game Ellie acted "masculine" to the point she ruined herself by the end of the game.
Bella is not acting masculine, she simply acts like a retarded downie.

shes peruvian, anon

druckman wrote and directed the episode

ok tyrone

Mazin is also listed, as for episode 7. so there is still hope.

Bella generally acts more like a boy than Ellie in the games. her mannerisms, not that her character does or says completely different things. she's giving a non-binary performance.

BORING season. What the fuck, this is exacty like From. NOTHING HAPPENS. I was hoping for more zombies all I fucking got was drama

Yo, I'm a dad, bitch!!

file.png - 640x356, 505.98K

nta but am jelly

I don’t watch this slop and neither should any of you

anyone got the Kevin James image?

Why is every aspect of this show centered around faggotry? I guarantee if there is an actual zombie apocalypse people suddenly wont have the desire to fuck men’s asses

same questions I asked myself during the development and push of the covid vaccines.

Did they purposefully make her the star so anyone who points out that she looks like a goblin and the show sucks can be called a homophobic pedo?

Because GAY people EXIST, chud. Does that make you MAD?

What's obvious about it? The Fireflies are portrayed as incompetent assholes throughout

so this episode was boring sleepy time? I can't recall what it was about cause I had firmly dozed off by the second consecutive minute of relationship drama.

They had a radio, couldn't Eugene just have a chat through that?

character drama and grow isn't for everyone. Maybe boot up that marvel movie next time.

It was a genuinely amazing episode adapting a heart-wrenching moment from the game. The "do better than me" addition worked incredibly well, the insertion of the therapist's bitten husband fit into the context of Ellie and Joel's last scene better than I expected while watching. I've been blown away by how good this season has been.

BORING EPISODE DO NOT REDEEM WHERE ACTION

I want to fuck this weird little dyke goblin so bad

latest[1].png - 688x826, 731.62K

I want to fuck Gail. She might be old but you can tell she'd be amazing in the sack.

I think something is lost without all the combat and tense encounters from the game. I remember feeling pretty drained by the end of it, which added a lot to the whole 'revenge quest' motif. The show is just sort of bouncing between the memorable moments without earning any of it.

He said he loved you

He was brave

He did it himself

Then everybody clapped

damn joel, dial it down

I know it is a show with magic zombie fungus that jumped from ants to humans, but there is no way.

1. There are currently no vaccines against fungal infections now, let alone 20 years after the apocalypse in an abandoned hospital.

2. There was no reason to kill Ellie. Why would they kill the only immune person known? If the fireflies were even capable of making a vaccine (they weren't), they could have done a brain biopsy instead of killing Ellie.

Are we getting 360 no scope sniper god Tommy in the next episode or are they saving it for Season 3?

pwned.gif - 480x270, 2.73M

You're not the only one anon. The cute red nose in the Wyoming air and stupid hat combo. Seemed to have a fairly tight body too, judging by the last episode.

yeah its not necessary for the Fireflies to be in the right for the character dynamic to work. just for Joel to feel guilty.

one legit criticism is that Joel must have wondered if he could be handing Ellie over to her death, but he never raised the possibility with her. and it could be because as he got to care about her he also figured out she'd say yes to giving her life, which means he'd lose her. so he's still to some extent responsible for the Fireflies getting a chance at their dubious plan.

that's not counting other middle-ground options, like: keep her in Jackson and send messangers to the Fireflies so they can't just chimp out and do whatever they like immediately. or let her get to 16/18 so she can consent fully. etc.

game/season 1: a curious ellie is taken to a mall for her bday

game/season 2: a curious ellie is taken to a museum for her bday

really??

They knocked joel out and gassed ellie before they could raise the question that she might die, the fireflies lost any chance of surviving then

leave youtube, twitter and tiktok. It's bad for you. Then replay the first game

The writers have never officially said that it would work

they did say that. In addition to "saying" that in the game

you miss the point.
if Joel asked Ellie on the way "what if they can't make a cure without killling you" and Ellie is okay with the idea, that changes the extent to which Joel can rationalize that he is "saving" her. but he never asks and the question is whether it a) never occured to him to ask, or b) it did, but he didn't ask because he both knew what the answer would be and couldn't even bear to consider it as a possibility.

the Fireflies knocking them out on sight is just standard procedure for when you detect intruders in this world. the fact that they don't get her consent either is really, really bad. but Joel didn't even really care what she would have wanted and pretty much acknowledges as much this episode.

it's not even a debate in the game. It's fully clear they would make the cure. You're just mindlessly repeating stuff from grifters

Nice try Druckkman

Has Druckman never heard of subtlety? I'm starting to think this show is for morons

A chat with who? The radio operator? They arent going to leave their post while patrols are out to find Gail

Who were the kids at the start of the episode

lol

Joel and Tommy.

Why?

Dont listen to them, i played both on release. part 1 is amazing, part 2 is utter shit

Flashback explaining the Miller family attitude to discipline. Get starring an actor from better call saul.

The zombies you see in the furst episode

How would they make a 100% effective cure for something totally alien to all known science just by giving a lobotomy to 1 ratty little girl then spread that cure and what is this miracle cure they can get and then produce

the game tells you literally nothing about the cure other than "It just Works!"

So no wonder people don't put stock in the cure even though it's """supposed""" to not be a debate. It that is the case its terrible writing

Answer the question you disingenuous fuck

So rather than confronting Joel with it directly like a mature person, she blabs it all to a newly grieving widow and makes her grief and trauma that much worse? What a selfish, self-centered, moonfaced little cunt. Not that I even like Gail, she's a pretentious, condescending bitch too.

Its just called being a teenager

It is not even a debate in the game

Because Druckman got upset that Joel was loved by everyone, not to mention it would be impossible in a post apocalypse scenario.

is if ever mentioned in the games that joels watch was his dads watch?

If Druckkman was upset people liked VG Joel so much, why did he cast the super charismatic Pascal to play Joel? People will just end up liking TV Joel even more

The watch in the game is the watch the Sarah gave him on his birthday the day of the outbreak. In the show, the watch was already in his possession and Sarah just got it fixed for him.

yeah no shit that is not what i asked. in the scene with lalo he touched tommy on the shoulder and he was wearing THE watch

How would they make a 100% effective cure for something totally alien to all known science

because it's a fictional cure for a fictional disease.

just by giving a lobotomy

by removing the fungus that grows in her head and reverse engineer what gives her the immunity. Marlene says it literally.

the game tells you literally nothing about the cure other than "It just Works!"

do you expect 200 pages long, peer reviewed paper in a scientific journal? You literally don't need to know more than

ellie is immune, we're gonna make a cure based on that immunity but we need the fungus

So no wonder people don't put stock in the cure

mate, most of those people "remember" an audiolog that is not in the game. People are fucking retarded. They allowed grifters from youtube to replace in their heads the game they played with some bullshit. If you look at the game only and not at what people tell you on the internet, then yes, it's not a debate. Audiolog (the real one), what marlene says, the ending, literally the whole game, everything points to a cure being 100% sure thing. How is the game even making sense if they would never make it?

In the game Joel's dad was never mentioned.

thanks

druckman secretly hates joel and also white people in general

I'm gonna state the obvious that you're both dumb and fighting a pointless fight
i find arguing about whether the cure would work or not isn't even the topic
rhe main issue Ellie has is no agency in the decision. They wouldn't know that the cure would work either, just that it was a possibility, one Ellie was denied agency in

It's insane to me that TLOU2 wants you to believe the fireflies could've made a cure when in the first game they decided to vivisect Ellie within the first 2 hours of getting her.
Keep in mind it all happens within a few hours. They knock Joel out, get Ellie and immediately decide the best course of action is to kill her within a few hours.
They also made the doctor say in the notes that there is no fungal growth in the limbic system (the inner-most part of the brain).
They also made sure to have a note saying that yeah, they would've killed Joel after escorting him out of the premises and made sure to make the Fireflies be assholes in TLOU1.
And it is a fungus. If they made it a parasite or something, sure, but they decided to make it a fungus, so they really just needed a tiny biopsy to get the fungus from her brain instead of killing her.
Because it is a fungus. It can grow if you get a biopsy of it, it is not a living animal.

The TLOU2 rewrite that "oh yeah, they would've totally made a cure and they HAD to kill Ellie for reasons, I was total asshole for killing the people that knocked me out with the butt of their rifles while I was trying to resuscitate Ellie and kept on antagonizing me, mocking that they would be thrilled to gun me down".

idk about white people, but Druckman really wants Joel to be the villain. The first game subtly hints that Joel was not a good person before meeting Ellie (hints he used to be a raider). The show is much more overt in trying to make him seem like a bad guy

cute butt

pic , ideally with a fireplace for reference

If they want Joel to be a villain why not cast Sam Rockwell or someone that can play villains well?

Ellie wouldn't know better because she was just a dumb kid.

A 19 year old may still technically be a teenager but if they still ACT like a teenager at that age then...yeah, they'll probably grow up to be a screeching liberal, so that tracks.

I think Ellies development from Teenager to Adult was somewhat arrested because of the whole apocalypse thing. She might be a little behind where most would be

They wouldn't know that the cure would work either, just that it was a possibility

that's not what is in the game. First you get a recording with a very excited doctor who's talking about the discovery on the level of penicilin and then you have Marlene stating LITERALLY that once they remove it (the fungus) they will be able to reverse engineer a vaccine. Why are those things in the game? To make you think they would never make it? Literally think about it for a minute. This is so retarded
at this point it's mental illness

real talk: when 98% of the human population is wiped out humans will revert to survival and perpetuating the species at all costs. every girl old enough to have her period would be pregnant. there wouldnt be age of consent and boomers questioning it

The point is the characters believed in the cure. Ellie would have preferred being sacrificed for it. She definitely didn't want Joel shooting up a hospital and denying the world the chance at a cure

Why should the players trust the fireflies in the first place? They blatantly lie to both Joel and Ellie. They told the former he'd be rewarded with his guns for delivering her to them. Then what do they do? They knock him unconscious while he's performing CPR on a lifeless girl, and then march him out at gunpoint to leave him for dead.
They also pretend to give a shit about Ellie, all the while intending to murder her.
Does this seem like a trustworthy organization to you?

Not to mention, they get kicked out of Boston which no one's unhappy about. They fail to control any QZs. Marlene and her crew barely survive getting to Salt Lake City. The last research lab (the one at the university) self-destructs because one of their idiot "scientists" gets himself bitten by an infected monkey.

Everything about the organization screams self-righteous incompetent assholes.

I googled and found funny reddit comment. Very representative

"I’ve made my decision. I don’t care what is in the game. When I originally played last of us I remember a recording that implied that they were people who had the same case as Ellie, were operated on, and had failed and resulted in their death. There’s enough people who had the same experience as me to where I can conclude such a recording did exist. So whether it was removed or patched or modified, I will believe what that recording said and treat it as an canon to the story. So Joel did not completely lie."

I’ve made my decision. I don’t care what is in the game

LMAO

you're supposed to trust doctors who don't know what a biopsy is and believe that they need to "remove the fungus" from a teenage girl's brain to get a hold of the fungus

LOL

Why are they making Ellie so unlikable
shes just a fucking cunt this season

did they show the rat king yet
t. not going to watch this slop (or anything else with the potato girl in it)

That's just how kids are anon. Endlessly frustrating but then they surprise you and you remember why you love them in the first place

The rat King didn't make the cut anon. As will no "rat" imagery or referencing right now thanks

Why was TLOU2 so dishonest?

Why should the players trust the fireflies in the first place?

this is more cope built on the massive pile of cope already existing. So that surgeon's recording? Is he lying to himself too? He turns into fucking schizo for few minutes?

because druckman is writing and directing the show too and he can retcon what he wants

This is a very insidious israelic production and my YouTube essay will be available post finale (currently: 2 hours 43 minutes)

why didn't you bring real life science into cordyceps jumping to humans or ellie being immune?

it means being in the closet

IM A GIRL, BUT IM ROUGH AND TOUGH AND CURSE LIKE A BOY!

it's so cringe and played out. im only watching this because there's nothing else worth watching. MurderBot is decent.

The game made sure to have the surgeon notes mention antigenic titers in serum and cerebrospinal fluid, talk about white cell percentages and absolute-counts, blood cultures, pro-inflammatory cytokines.
So why don't biopsies exist in the TLOU universe?

The Slop of Us LMAO

I thought it was Bill burr

I've been watching Sopranos for the first time and recognized his voice instantly kek

He'd been a schizo for a long while

maybe they need the whole structure of the mutated fungus, not just a sample from the biopsy. But the game is clear they need it so it doesn't even matter why. Why aren't you so nitpicky about other things?

i thought porch scene will be dissapointing but it was even better than in the game

noooooo you have to say Bella ramsey is bad at acting staaaaaaaahp

Yeah it’s stupid, Druckman had to retcon the ending of the first game to push his narrative. Just compare the hospital scene in the original game and part 2. They give you two totally different perspectives on if the fireflies could’ve made the cure.

maybe they need the whole structure of the mutated fungus

That's... not how fungi work.

b-but it is a fictional fungus

Still a fungus.

"Apparently there's no way to extricate the parasite without eliminating the host"

That's how you know the Fireflies doctors were full of shit. It is a parasitic fungal infection, not a parasite.
And, again, it is a fungus. The doctor says that her blood grows cordyceps.

Blood cultures taken from the patient rapidly grow Cordyceps in fungal-media in the lab... however white blood cell lines, including percentages and absolute-counts, are completely normal.

Her blood just grows normal cordyceps rather than the cordyceps she is infected with?
The game talks science babble, that's the issue. If they didn't include surgeon notes or anything like that, one could argue they did do everything they could before deciding to vivisect Ellie.
But the game also mentions that it all happens within a few hours.
They knock out Joel, do some REALLY REALLY fast tests, Joel wakes up and they decide to kill Ellie.
How long was Joel knocked out for? Maybe an hour? Because it was still daytime when he left the hospital and it was still April 28th.
Do you realize how insane it is no rush some tests then immediately jump to the conclusion that you have to kill the only immune person in the world?

20 mins in tempted to turn episode off

It was so stupid to move the entire 'what happened in the hospital' talk to the porch scene. Ellie needed time to digest what had happened so when she reached the porch scene a year or 2 later, she already came to terms with and felt bad about how things are with Joel, so she can start to forgive him. As it stand in the show, he dies a day after he told her how he killed all those people, she should still be mad at him.It actually makes sense now why this Ellie doesn't feel as vengeful.

jesus fucking christ, man. You need a psychiatrist

turns lesbian for Ellie

Explain why?

How does an autistic person even decide to watch a zombie show in the first place anyway? Doesn't it feel wrong to you?

expecting a video game nerd to understand the inner workings of human and fungal biology

its a zombie game relax

A fictional setting doesn't excuse bad writing.
TLOU1 wasn't written by Druckmann, but TLOU2 was and you can tell.

Druckman had to retcon the ending of the first game to push his narrative.

Wait why is Joel alive again? Did they explain this in the game?

you kept watching.
you're gonna keep watching.
and you're going to be there for the 3rd season making posts about how you're totally done watching every episode.

hes immune to golf clubs

Just finished the episode, fucking Pedro nailed that porch scene, and it was a nice bookend with the scene with his father at the beginning, but imo they should have added another scene from the day he died, showing him in a good mood and asking Dina out to patrol, and maybe close off the episode with a shot of him smiling to really drive the knife deeper. Instead we got current Ellie walking into the theater *shrug*

He came back as a fungus clone

Ellie is the only female top in the post-apocalypse.

first game left ambitious so you can decide if joel made the right decision or not

second game, director is pissed so many people sided with joel's decidion, that he retconned the cure

part 2 is so fucking shit and druckmann is a hack

We must find a way to replicate this state under laboratory conditions. We're about to hit a milestone in human history equal to the discovery of penicillin.

we must find a way to replicate this

we can't replicate this so far

but we're sure that once we kill the only immune person, we'll be able to replicate it, somehow

Ellie walking into the theatre definitely needed to be there.
as much as people might wish to pretend otherwise, Joel is no longer the main character.

Why don’t they know what the rainbow symbol meant?

unsubscribe critical drinker

I don't think it really starts to fall apart until

characters die randomly to show us that death is le random

extended flashback to convince us Abby is also a protagonist basically takes forever

Abby and Ellie start setting out to kill each other but not doing it for poorly conveyed reasons

I'm already starting to wonder if they might have left it too late to give us sympathetic Abby scenes.

neil druckmann himself sided with Joel's decision. He said it many times. Also, first game's ending isn't ambigous in a way you imply. Also, there was no retcon. You wrote so many stupid things in such a small post lmao

your brain was raped, man. Touch some grass

How can you be 25 years into the apocalypse and not understand why Joel would not bring an infected person back to your settlement?

the issue is that Joel was on the verge of getting her to view him as a saviour figure by telling her what she wanted to hear, just like with Ellie. its manipulative.

Yeah, giving Druckmann full control of TLOU2 was a mistake.

once we kill the only immune person

but they dont need ellie at all. They just need the fungus. This is just another proof you're not really talking about the game but what other people told you about it

ambitious

you mean ambiguous?

NTA, but here

youtu.be/OiS-WPV1GaQ?t=75

plus having a shot at making the cure makes sense from a narrative standpoint. If the Fireflies couldn't make it, it diminishes the importance of Joel's decision.

Anybody claiming "but they had immune people and botched it" is illiterate

This all relies on trusting the fireflies, which the game hints you shouldn't

And then what would they do with the dead fungus? It is an obligate parasitic fungus that requires a host to live, they kill the host, they kill the fungus.
Her blood grows the fungus, as stated by the doctor, so...?

The TV is even more retarded:

He's going to remove it from her, multiply the cells in a lab, produce those chemical messengers...and then we can give it to everyone. He thinks it could be a cure, Joel.

Because they literally state that a biopsy would be the way to go. They want to multiply the cells in a lab, so instead of a biopsy where they get a living tissue from the fungus, they will kill the fungus to THEN multiply it?

How do we know the doctor knows what he's talking about? What if it's a genetic immunity, like how people can be inherently immune to most types of HIV.
And even assuming he's right, that would only justify collecting a sample (they did this), culturing it (they did this), then testing it as an inoculation (they didn't do this).

It all reeks of self-righteous bloodlust to me.

Basically this

why would they?

remastered

You mean the game where they changed the textures of the hospital you rescue Ellie from to make the retconning in 2 make even a tiny bit of sense?
You can't trust the fireflies in TLOU1 because they reek of incompetence throughout the game, and because the hospital where they're going to cut up Ellie is fucking filthy, the doctors look deranged and sleep deprived including the head surgeon you have to shoot and instead of doing any other testing they're just going to rip her fucking brain out like utter retards. If they haven't had previous subjects then it makes their decision even more retarded.

You are not supposed to trust them, but Druckmann realised the narrative he wanted to tell in 2 makes no sense unless the Fireflies could have actually produced a cure. I played TLOU at launch and didn't trust them. The very fact that they had to change everything about the ending's setting visually to fit this narrative is evidence enough.

I think you might be autistic

those are some ridiculous levels of cope. Why isn't the story about Joel saving ellie from the raiders? Why is ellie even immune? Why is the WHOLE GAME a journey to make the cure? Why the doctor's recording? Why the scene with Marlene telling you they would make it?Why the ending? You're not seeing what is right in front of you because you have some defect in your brain. Just think about it? If they would never make it, why are all those things in the game?

just don't try to make sense of it..

Just think about it? If they would never make it, why are all those things in the game?

Because people like to have hope, and they use it as a force to drive people together. They'll kill Ellie to try and make their cure regardless of their ability to do so because it's the only thing worth trying to do in an apocalyptic scenario. You're essentially asking "why do people try to live, why do people hope for things that can't ever happen", you stupid motherfucker.

What if it's a genetic immunity, like how people can be inherently immune to most types of HIV.

like 95% of you would dissapear if you had just replayed the game

Did you play the game? Because the game has the surgeon saying he doesn't know why

first of all, it doesn't even make sense what you're saying. I was asking why druckmann and straley put those things in the game. And there's only one answer to that - they want you to think fireflies would make the cure.

and if you had replayed the game you would know there's a scene with Marlene that takes place later and they figured out why. JUST FUCKING REPLAY IT YOU STUPID FUCKING CHUD

People are just now realizing video games have really shoddy, inconsistent writing that wouldn't fly in any other medium. The writing in TLOU is on about the same level as barely coherent Jap shit like Resident Evil.

they want you to think fireflies would make the cure.

First game is ambiguous on purpose. Second game retcons.

Isn't that what psychiatrists do. If anything, she just got a taste of her own medicine.

I think it was quite a good episode. Best of the season so far easily.

See, now everyone knows you're trolling at this point.

No, Marlene is merely relaying what he thinks, without any proof, or even any trials to figure it out.

Be a woman
She's probably been in Red Hook since the beginning, doing her little psychiatry sessions and never having to actually confront the reality of it

I guess these motherfuckers are only good with flashbacks and time jumps episodes.

I was asking why druckmann and straley put those things in the game

You dumb fuck. Do you not comprehend that groups of people get together to do things they could never actually do? Do you know what cults are? Do you know what groups like flat earthers are?
Just because people say they can do something or they want to do something doesn't mean they could actually ever do it. Dangling the cure to an apocalypse is how they get people invested in their cause. Saying "oh well they say they can do it and there's a bunch of people who say they can do it because... they say they can" makes you the stupidest, most clueless retard in this thread.

they want you to think fireflies would make the cure.

they want you to think that a lot of people really want a cure, and are willing to kill Ellie in case the cure can be made. That's it.
Again, Druckmann realised how unlikely and dodgy Firefly were in the first game, which is why he retconned many things surrounding the group, especially the hospital:
