Holy fricking shit...
Doctor who is BACK.
RTD SAVED US..
LETS GOOOOOOOO
Doctor Who
what am i looking at
doctor who fans are going nuts on twitter
I believe it, it certainly makes the weird "smacked bottom" line actually make sense
I'm a chud and still think that the latest episode was the best Who has been in years, it genuinely felt like something straight out of the old RTD era. Shooty also finally getting to be le dark and serious Doctor rather than just fucking crying every episode was great.
It's the the Rani aka Mrs Flood during her bi-regeneration.
This show is totally retarded now. First they establish that Time Lords can change gender when regenerating by turning the Master into "Missy" - even though the original canon has "Time Ladies" (Romana & the Rani).
Now they have bi-regeneration when the character splits into two versions of the same gender.
It's just bat shit insane, because regeneration is supposed to happen when the character is basically dying and regenerates to save themselves.
Now it's just some kind of weird mitosis and Both versions survive. NuWho has done a lot to get rid of 'gendering' the Time Lords and now they bring back a legacy character that refers to herself as "a Time Lady" and is still female.
disaffected youth
sex-coded death
Why are Brits so fucking gay?
look at what lefty whofags are saying in response to the episode on leddit/xwitter/youtube reactions
"the episode was bad because the Corporation/Hellion thing was clearly an Isreal/Palestine allegory and saying murdering trillions as revenge isn't a good form of protest is bad, guy that wanted to massacre trillions was the good guy, ackshually"
holy fuck leftoids are actually so fucking insane and deranged, why are they like this? Do they seriously not realise how fucking crazy they seem to most people? How did they even get to this point?
They can not enjoy stories as stories. It has to always be an allegory for something. They're gay nerds after all.
calling a terrorist babes and honey
before electro-torturing him on the floor
Based, he didn’t even care about The Corporation just fucked off
How is a gay bloke such a simp
does absolutely nothing most episodes
yet the Doctor constantly goes on about the amazing Belinda Chandra, the most amazing person I’ve ever met
Because all women are supposedly amazing and not one is just some average bitch.
BBC front page:
Billie Piper and David Tennant to return for special Doctor Who celebration
The actual article:
bbc.co.uk
Special episode of Doctor Who: Unleashed celebrating 20 years of revival announced
Wow. Are you guys looking forward to Billie Piper and David Tennant appearing in Doctor Who: Unleashed?!
To be fair this wasn't even subtext. Clearly it's inspired by those big, evil corporations doing racisms IRL.
Had to double-check the writer wasn't a 15-year-old who won a competition or something.
All the things I hear about Doctor Who over these last however many years, I have not watched anything since 12th, are the sort of things anons 10 years back would shitpost about in what is the most retarded thing the show could do. If I did not know better it comes across as self-parody at this point.
They've already reunited to do Big Finish audios.
Clearly it's inspired by those big, evil corporations doing racisms IRL
We literally had a decade and a half of corporations bending over backwards for ass loads of gay shit. What the fuck are they talking about?
So there is keeping Timeless Child, Gallifrey still gone, Tennant again, The Toymaker, Sutekh, Rani, bigeneration both the first time and again, all the other crap, and Susan coming back in all this abomination. What is there still left for RTD to do awfully either new or dragging up from the past?
The show has no stakes after making the Doctor a literal God who can't die.
Isn't Omega rumoured? I mean he has always been rumoured to return, but so has the Rani and here she is so by this point I can see it. No idea if the show is hinting towards that or not as I am not watching it. The other one to throw in the ring is bringing back Romana. You do not even have to do anything bad with her (though odds are if he was then it would be bad), it is just the same way you don't want Susan being associated with any of this shit.
Maybe colonialism and mercantilism from a few centuries ago? (That we should all STILL feel bad about.)
'Colony in Space' hit the same themes, it was written by an outright Marxist, but it was also genuinely good. I think a big part of the problem is squeezing these stories into 45 minutes rather than multi-part episodes.
This had a 10 second flashback of the Tiefling planet. Almost as well-developed as the 15-second flashback of Belinda's incel nice guy toxic abuser. In both cases, AFTER the reveal/evil plan, almost like a coda.
Don't forget that using the term Time Lady is bad because Ladies are supposedly subordinate to Lords despite Missy saying it's an upgrade.
From what we've seen so far, when they bi-generate timelords get progressively darker in skin tone. After three of these they'll have the color of a black hole.
It was good when Capaldi was briefly blind and Tennant being terrified of not being himself
The difference between Hulke and writers now is he was earnest in his beliefs and even when being unabashed he both understood what his audience wanted and he did not hate them.
Big crossover event bringing together the characters from Doctor Who, Class, and Starz Torchwood.
Maybe a cameo by the kids from Dark Season, and it all ties into the new Sea Devil/UNIT show.
apparently the actual real-life Eurovision really is funded/sponsored by Israel or something which is why they think the allegory is intentionally there (also the fact that the land of Canaan in the Bible/Torah is called 'the land of milk and honey' and the Poppy Honey thing with the Hellion planet)
so basically the episode is supposedly trying to do a commentary on this about the Eurovision... and the lefty audience is like 'but massacring people in protest is justified though, muh oppressed palis can do no wrong.' Whether this connection is actually intentional and not them being schizos and reaching I dunno, I'm curious as to when this episode was actually written and if it really is intended like that (Dot and Bubble for example was apparently originally written for 11's era years ago and repurposed despite how Current Event(tm) it seemed)
but massacring people in protest is justified though
They believe this while crying about fascism.
and it all ties into the new Sea Devil/UNIT show.
the series is set to feature UNIT as they attempt to prevent a global war caused by the return of the Sea Devils.
Genocide them, Kate.
Omega is all but confirmed since he was part of the leak dump which included the Doctor meeting Doctor Who fans, the Midnight sequel, the Fugitive Doctor showing up last week, Susan returning, and Mrs Flood being the Rani and bi-generating.
the Fugitive Doctor
I must have missed this - I'm only keeping up through these threads. What did they do with her?
Agree. The Doctor should have some fear otherwise his bravado means nothing.
Eccleston sells being terrified of the Dalek in Dalek. The unease the Doctor has over the Beast knowing about the Time War and claiming to be before time.
AS IF 4 didn't wear a hat
I thought bigeneration was rare? Also, pretty interesting that jeetrani has her hair done up nice despite being a new lifeform
Yep, feels like being talked down to.
youtube.com
Miss little moments like this. Alien culture shock =/= racism, you alien little shit.
7th
I like in that episode where the Doctor needs to come up with a gift and his solution is air from my lungs. That's the sort of guile and alien yet not too alien mindset the Doctor needs.
Last week they went to Africa and the Doctor meets a character who he remembers meeting when he was the Fugitive Doctor (despite the fact he's not supposed to remember being her). Its funny because she doesn't appear in a flashback like you'd expect, the Doctor just spontaneously turns into her for 5 seconds whilst speaking with the character (presumably for the audience and not literally). Really it was just a very transparent excuse to have the other black Doctor appear in the black episode.
Kinda like how Jodie appeared with dyed blonde hair and ears that had been pierced.
Regeneration would be cooler if it was more body horror-esque instead of flashing lights like in the TV movie or here youtu.be
i forgot about the piercings
Shit over Rassilon again, as is Tradition
I stopped watching the Flash too early.
Yeah, based on the rest of the writing and that the show itself is fine in the end, I'm leaning towards schizo shit.
Remember when Lawrence Miles (VNA author) thought picrel was a racist, xenophobic attack against asylum seekers coming to the UK?

Follow-up once he'd calmed down, turns out he actually does have schizophrenia:

The costumes resembling pigs, chameleons, vultures, and wasps were created for the Coldplay music video for Trouble in Town.[7]
You now know that the Most Expensive Episode of Doctor Who Evar! had to recycle aliens from a fucking five year old music video
The thing to think about Hulk is his friendship and working with Terrance Dicks. Hulke and Dicks were ideologically different, and in general the writers and producers came from different backgrounds and outlooks. The problems now are threefold. Firstly, the vast majority of are all of a similar outlook - and often have little experience in writing or are only experienced in writing. Secondly, they lack any nuances and subtly, and think it is a good thing if they piss the audience off. Thirdly, Doctor Who has been dominated/controlled by the same circle for 20 years (even longer if you include their works in the Wilderness Years - to put in perspective RTD2 is like Innes Lloyd produce from 1966-1968 coming back to run the show in 1988. So no differing ideas, no new ideas, an no respect for the audience.
The Unquiet Dead
Shame no one listened. Now that's an episode we need today.
Funny how they did consider bringing back Patrick Troughton in the 80's(and Tom Baker in the 90's), but rightly realised they had to move forward.
shitloads of unique aliens at a concert
They did it better last time.
Yes, Sydney Jewman suggested bringing back Troughton and then having the Doctor become a woman. But then Troughton fucked a Jo Martin an died. Fucking hero that man is.
Nah, you don't get rid of the undesirables by turning OFF the gas supply...
Bi-regeneration feels like a terribly interpreted version of the other Doctor growing from that hand before.
I liked this guy and the funny alien head characters but nothing else at all
I have seen black people watching it.
A 15 year old who won a competition would have more talent then the actual Dr who writers
you watching them like birds?
oh and the hell girl, the scottish(?) one
Every current companion the Doctor has is the most important woman in the whole universe.
I'd bet money on his next two seasons just being daleks and master again
they should try bringing back the doctor.
When you look at it a lot of NuWho was just treading water or getting too caught-up on the past. That says nothing about whatever pillaging from EU stuff or just recycling ideas from Classic. By RTD2 you have full-blown regression of Nu itself with both RTD's return and with 14th.
Could combine all those hotel schemes into one, I suppose.
Shooty also finally getting to be le dark and serious Doctor
The problem is he's fucking terrible at it, every time he tries to be threatening he just sounds like he's itching to suck your dick.
the african one or the eurovision one? the african one was on par with a mediocre mid-season RTD1 episode, which in this day and age is a very good episode
Other than the issues with the people working on it, I do wonder if the nature of NuWho just in the medium and long term undermined it. With RTD1 you get the intent to make it so mass appeal by making it that character relationship and drama heavy, along with both the self-inserting aspect of the female companion taking a hold and you have the increasing escalation of season finales. With Moffat you get mystery boxes and pondering about the lore & character. When you look at a lot of that stuff brought about by the two of them it: detracts from the episodic nature of the show which overtime can lock people out if they are casual; it is not sustainable to keep trying to one-up the end of the world event or be more clever than the last seasons mystery; if you fail with the season arc you simply fail as a whole or at least tarnish the episodes within it; the audience/fanbase has expanded to such broad extent that it is not clear what the target audience is, which means it is a balancing act of trying to please everyone which means you can please no one and huge segments will leave if you do not pander to them which means it gets deemed a failure of the show when they go. There is almost an element of Doctor Who burning itself out, and so quickly as well. That short term popularity was chosen over long term stability and ability to keep it going.
Seeing him desperate to get out of the room in Dalek was the only time I thought the Daleks were scary.
In one of the commentary videos, RTD compared Ruby Sunday to Rey from Star Wars. He, correctly, preferred her as an ordinary person with ordinary parents.
Belinda is just some nurse. She's not a bi-generation of Susan, or the Rani's daughter, or I SWEAR TO GOD RUSSELL
He, correctly, preferred her as an ordinary person with ordinary parents.
I am still fucking baffled you are supposed to belief Ruby's mysterious christmas powers, the fairy circle shit, EVERYTHING weird about her was just Sutekh having cosmic glaucoma and being unable to tell an unwanted british bint from a potential rival.
They really did an episode in the backrooms
is torchwood still a thing
Predates it the Backrooms. Liminal spaces have long been drawn upon either consciously or subconsciously by creatives even if the majority of audiences did not know the term or the concept was not as popular.
Dan Stevens for the new Doctor Who
Dan Stevens would probably could be a good Doctor, because he can act and would not just play himself.
OVERNIGHT FIGURES ARE IN
EPISODE 6 HAD AN AVERAGE VIEWING FIGURE OF 2.6M
Don't tease me with something i'll never have.
Wasn't it sandwiched between the FA Cup finale and Eurovision? Does it count people who had the TV on 5 minutes after or before watching them.
That says nothing about whatever pillaging from EU stuff
Mostly from the 8th Doctor.
1st companion's a blonde who falls in love with the Doc (Sam/Charley/Rose)
Destroys Gallifrey to end a Time War
has a hot blonde daughter (Miranda/Jenny)
spaceship over London (Dying Days/Christmas Invasion)
kisses his companions
stays in one place to protect it for hundreds of years (Orbis/Trenzalore)
finds his future corpse (Alien Bodies/Name of the Doctor)
Helped that they redesigned it to look less ridiculous. Too bad it's still just a slow mini-tank you can easily outrun. Cybermen would've been cooler.
Seriously why is anyone still watching this show? I was never into it but it’s obviously completely shit now. Why not put that time you spend watching this slop to use and just let this shit die?
Reboot it with him in the role. Wipe the slate clean.
Who sisters.....we are back
Maybe we won't even be cancelled
He can change, I say, as my love beats me. He can change, and he said he would.
How will the chuds cope?
Why did we just surrender nerd culture to the queers?
Since she is an indian monster you have to assign high value to her.
It is really sad how they don't even try to hide the fact they know that what people believe and think is based off the media they consume. They used to be subversive with their propaganda now they don't even try.
It is just here "worship this nigger" here "worship this indian cunt". Then people do!
The nerds just wanted friends and realised too late they were an invasive group. It explains the rise of "alt right grifters" who appeal to the nerds that just want their space back
Most anons are not. They are just morbidly curious about the latest baffling or shitshow decision making that they learn by the few anons that do outlining, posting webms. A lot of the time these threads are just discussing old stuff, and even if nominally about the latest episode they become that or shitposting. It is like how Star Trek threads rarely and barely talk about the new stuff, beyond reacting to how bad it is and shitting over it.
He'd have to beat off a lot of British actors...
This is true. I made up a lie about the latest episode a few threads ago and I've seen it repeated here. I not watched a new episode since The Timeless Child
No it's the average viewership across the entire slot. The peak viewership will be close to 3m.
Shame you missed the masterpiece episode The Giggle.
He would have to beat off a lot of men to get the part
youtube.com
I liked the RTD1 designs for the Daleks and Cybermen. They looked industrial and sturdy.
Wow, still lower than The Fux despite being sandwiched between two popular events.
Bragging about a ratings boost caused by footy and Eurovision isn't the win he thinks it is
But it's funny to see him admit that without it then it almost certainly would have declined further
Live TV is dead outside of live events tbqh
Because corporations are in control of it and they have spend the last 10-15 years either cynically allied to such groups or, (what increasingly happened through such cynical support for said groups giving way to organisations being transformed to earnestly believe it) such groups entrenched themselves into corporations & the media. A lot of this goes back to corporate concern over widespread backlash to the 2008 financial crisis, so they started supporting these things to either divide any united left-right call for change or to stop the left going on about economic reform by shifting them to focus on social/cultural affairs.
How is 8 gay?
Too bad about the loud ass footsteps.
So the Doctor had the Two Tone Chromed Edition sonic screwdriver this episode, pink instead of the usual blue.
What other imaginative Character Options merchandise would you like to see in the show, /who/?
How is that a screwdriver?
Why does BBC almost passive aggressively pander? It's like they jump through so many hoops to NOT have a straight white man be a good guy. In fact the only recent episode with a straight white guy, he turns out to be an evil internet conspiracy theorist
It just is. They wanted to make it less like a gun so American children won't imitate it.
That's why in this episode he uses it to shoot robots and blow up a doomsday cube.
It's because geeky tech types are neurotic and evil. Probably incels, too.
Except when it's the Doctor. Then he's a charismatic genius, and everyone SHOULD listen to him.
It just is. They wanted to make it less like a gun so American children won't imitate it.
I find it ridiculous that RTD did the whole "we must change the screwdriver because we don't want people pointing it like a gun/knife!" thing because... it was him that started it. The screwdriver in classic was held up vertically like an ice cream cone, RTD in 2005 was the one who turned it into a laser that gets pointed at things.
The old show liked to shit on non-nerd types because the nerd writers were still seething at the "jocks" for being likable and popular.
So should Harry Potter get rid of their wands now? Are they that fucked in the head?
AAAH HE'S EVIL BECAUSE... BECAUSE... BECAUSE HE WANTS UNIT TO NOT KEEP WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION SECRET
In all fairness, it looks better that way. And it was better in series 1 when it looked like it took some time and tinkering to use, no psychic "think and click" bullshit.
Think that was just Robert Pattinson.
