im so curious, what's with all the Back To The Future Part III hate? i've always found it to be better than Part II in my opinion
im just want to hear other peoples thoughts because i've always thought Part III is amazing
Bttf3 hate
im just want to
am i stupid?
I certainly don't hate it, it's just 1 and 2 are S tier and 3 is A tier. I think I like it less because it's more a western than a time travel film, time travel is now integral to the plots of the first two while in 3 it's really just how they ended up in that situation
I legit just dont find this time period exciting and by the 3rd movie they could start establishing that literally anything is possible but they double down on the exact same patterns and scenes playing out in new contexts and its really dull by this point. There was a cartoon I believe that did this better by having new shit happen not just repeats.
that's fair, desu
i've just always seen it as a nice change of pace from Part II from going to several different time periods in quick succession to actually slowing down and getting to know the people of 1885 Hill Valley
3 is great, I've probably rewatched it the most even though 1 is a better movie, 2 is my least favorite by far. Yeah, there's a lot of beats that repeat and that can get old but its still really well made and the comedic beats and jokes are perfect
3 is more of a children's movie than the other two. The sanitized, family-friendly version of the old west was unrealistic. Also Doc Brown falling in love with Clara was cringeworthy and you can tell the actors didn't know how to play it.
doc and clara naming their kids "Jules" and "Verne" was so funny to me because like, come on, man
also im personally not a huge fan of doc's return in the Time Train, i think it would have been more in character for him to stay in the past to avoid time travel any further
also, ever noticed that the train signal goes off warning of a train coming from the past? that's always been a little strange to me
warning of a train coming from the past
doc probably sent a letter he'll be coming
my theory on the train signal is that doc actually time traveled just to turn the signal on before the Time Train arrives near marty and jennifer. he seems the type to care about train safety (despite hijacking a train earlier in the movie)
You made last night's thread, right?
I just like the idea I've inspired these threads since no one was really talking about Back To The Future lately.
doc probably sent a letter
this series sure does love its letters
There was a cartoon I believe that did this better by having new shit happen not just repeats.
My dad and I used to do the experiments from the show
You made last night's thread, right?
i did! im flattered you remembered
unfortunately, i wasn't exactly inspired by anyone, since that was my first time ever on Anon Babble
im just autistic about back to the future
this thread was inspired by the BTTF3 hate in that thread's replies though!
it went to the future in 2, which looked awesome and was evocative, and then placing it into john wayne-western place was a downgrade in almost every way
the train looked cool tho
the experiments from the show
if i recall correctly, bill nye actually started his career for explaining science to kids through the Back To The Future cartoon!
Did you call me Adam for some reason? Or was that someone else?
no, i actually went to bed immediately after posting the thread, and then when i woke back up it was archived! the only involvement i have with that thread is the initial post
I don't think you recall correctly because it was Christopher Lloyd demonstrating the experiments.
the face he's making while doing that is so funny to me
legend
Everyone ITT needs to look up the Opie and Anthony commentary tracks of BTTF1 and 2.
They're amazing
The three movies each contain a different variation of time travel
BTTF: weird time travel that's like Looper, you can change the past but it doesn't immediately change, it's kind of mooshy and parts of you fade in and out
BTTF2: classic "Ray Bradbury. Delicate Sound of Thunder" time travel. You can go into the past and change it then go back to the future and find yourself in a different world but you are unaffected
BTTF3: classic "The Terminator" fixed loop time travel. Whatever happened, always happened, including you being in the past, sending your future self a message etc
ew
As a child I liked Part II the most, as an adult I like Part III the most.
He's just trying to tell his mom off screen that he needs to pee
I like trains
BTTF3: classic "The Terminator" fixed loop time travel. Whatever happened, always happened, including you being in the past, sending your future self a message etc
doesn't the ravine change from being named Clayton Ravine to Eastwood Ravine after Clint Eastwood (marty) falls into it? that's really the only example of the time travel of BTTF3 changing anything in Hill Valley, if i recall correctly
this would mean that its more or less the same time travel as the first movie, lining up with the Twin Pines to Lone Pine change
Sure hope destroying the locomotive out in bumfuck nowhere didn't have any adverse affects on the timeline.
this made me second-guess myself, so i went back to check!
bill nye demonstrates some experiments, while doc demonstrates others
we're both right!
Sure hope destroying the locomotive out in bumfuck nowhere didn't have any adverse affects on the timeline.
oh, it's probably fine.. the only things that affect the timeline is what the writers want to affect it!
realistically what would you expect from that
BTTF3: classic "The Terminator" fixed loop time travel. Whatever happened, always happened, including you being in the past, sending your future self a message etc
The exception to this is when Marty didn't take Needle's bait and avoided the car accident which canceled out the 2015 timeline in 2.
realistically what would you expect from that
im not sure, honestly. i just thought it would be funny to say
i think realistically the only things it could do is end up making the railroad either postponed or, at worst, get built a couple of yards to the side, which wouldn't be great news for marty
that was my first time ever on Anon Babble
If you don't mind, could you tell the class
how old you are,
how you first heard of Anon Babble,
what brings you to Anon Babble, and
what other sites or Anon Babble boards you browse?
you want my SSN, too? jk
18, probably some youtube video years back, i was bored, and im usually on like.. twitter, and this is the only Anon Babble board i've even opened
BTTF3: classic "The Terminator" fixed loop time travel. Whatever happened, always happened, including you being in the past, sending your future self a message etc
Photo of Docs tombstone and the Clayton Ravine becomes the Eastwood ravine, dumas.
BTTF2 didn't cause Marty or Doc to vanish because Biff's changes to the past didn't stop their birth, so they are the same people in a new world. Which is also true for the ending to BTTF1.
Yes, but for unrelated reasons that will be revealed to you only 24 years from now. Marty, it's your future self, Marty..!
This is reasonable. I think a lot of big beloved franchises in the 80s and 90s got judged way harsher than they ought to, just because the bar was set so high. Then again looking back, stuff I thought sucked then is now gold, who knows why.
you want my SSN, too? jk
Nah, but I'm curious what ethnicity you are and if you're a woman, or an American.
I've been posting here since you were 5 years old, and by the true old fags that means I'm still an eternal newfag.
I'm generally very curious who most of our newcomers are.
you're a woman, or an American.
are those mutually exclusive? if not, im both
It's some lonely schizo contrarian, like the retard who hate Aliens and T2 or the one who say BvS is secretly a masterpiece or le Prometheus is actually good.
They are loud because that's all they have
3 has mommy mary steenburgen in it of course it's the best
This is not a real opinion
Why not?
3 has mommy mary steenburgen in it of course it's the best
the first good take in this entire thread!
Looper
Looper was dogshit and changed his rules from scene to scene
Because it's jsut contrarianism and irrationality obviously built as a trolling attempt.
I hate that Doc Brown gets a girl and for that reason I'm out
The trains are nice tho
I hate that Doc Brown gets a girl
true, im jealous of clara, too
Everything in that post is true. There was a huge native american tribe being chased out of the vicinity without further mention. No one had cholera from drinking the brown water and there were too many fat people. No one was spitting blood from having TB. It's a bowdlerized version of the Old West at best.
On top of that Lloyd and Steenburgen had no romantic chemistry whatsoever and Doc suddenly falling in love at first sight seemed forced and cartoonish.
Sometimes is difficult to separate blatant trolling from low IQ autism and legit mental illness.
This is one of those cases
I didn't even mention the complete lack of black people, but that's another thing against it.
there's a couple of interesting choices in the BTTF trilogy
for example, marlene mcfly in BTTF2
obviously, she's intended to be there as a joke towards trans people, but there is not really anything offensive regarding her character. no jokes, no commentary, nothing at all.
as a trans person myself, i prefer to see it as representation, even if accidental
