>Dood I can't stop stealing lmao!

what was the point of Marie's kleptomaniac side story that led nowhere? i thought it was gonna turn into her stealing walt's daughter or something

side story that led nowhere?

Doesn't need to go anywhere. Take a look at Twin Peaks, 75% of the shit doesn't matter.

My guesses are

The actress playing Marie demanded more screentime and AMC caved and had the writers shit something out to appease her

or

AMC were paying her for so little work that they told the writers to add more Marie content to justify her pay

or

A variant of the second option but instead AMC wanted to kill off Marie but Vince didn't want that and told the writers to shit something out to keep her around.

it does matter after they reveal the meaning of the story is love and hate or whatever i didn't watch the third season or the movie or the extended movie.

to show she was neurotic. perhaps that's why Hank married her, it's what they had in common. Hank wouldn't drop the blue meth even after being told to.

She is breaking bad too. Hank also breaks bad too he gets too obsessed with winning over walt and honestly in an out of character way, revels in taking him down for some reason.

she broke bad dude. fuckin duh

What else happens?
didn't stealing the tiara tie into something else in that episode?
I don't remember its been so long.

The point was that Walt's erratic actions affected other people, most notably his own family. It impeaches his hypocrisy in supposedly doing his work to empower his family and ensure their safety if, in doing so, every one of them suffers terrible consequences.

Marie's stealing isn't so important as it is to show that she's regressing and suffering as a direct result of the tremendous stress of her husband being fucking shot numerous times and having to baby him all day, you could have easily replaced it with drinking or anger issues. It's an outlet for her to cope. I think they just used stealing because she'd already stolen the tiara earlier on in the series (when it was more of a black comedy, the dramatic irony being that skyler flips the fuck out over shoplifting like it's a personal betrayal when her own husband cooks meth)

Marie stealing makes perfect sense

no kids

mad at Hank for not having kids

Hank is a law enforcement officer

Stealing makes sense as her way of getting back at him. If Hank was a vegan who was a vegan chef, she would be sneaking out to eat steak.

I just want to know more about Skylar's short stories

heres your writing, bro

lsegnee.png - 600x600, 591.7K

The sub-plot foreshadows how Skylar has absolutely 0 tolerance for crime. It makes it smirk seeing how much Skylar freaks out about her sister shoplifting when we know Walt is doing things that are 100x more illegal and immoral.

*It makes us smirk

1) Vince is a hack and made it up as he went along, reading twitter between seasons so he knew how to write for his audience - there was no plan for Mare's kleptomania, it was a dropped plotlone
2)Gives the audience a glimpse at how Walt's family reacts to a crime: Skylar angrily trying to cover it up, Hank baffled at someone clse to him being a dumb criminal, the tard cripple kid mumbling something

she had a happy life so had to inject chaos and drama like all women

Midwit
Absolute braindead retard, astonishing

You dumb nigger she steals in the first season way before Hank gets shot and way before Walts actions start spilling over into his personal life

I thought it was to

bring up the whole “what would you do if your loved one was a criminal, skyler?” Notion without hinting to her about Walt. She literally does the same thing, helps cover it up but is mad about it and wants it to stop

glimpse into the life of the Schraders, we know Hank is confident and macho on the surface but has panic attacks, Marie likewise has had a husband for years who works a dangerous job, this is probably some attempt to cope with that, stealing stuff gives her the feeling of control she lacks

I forget all the details but there’s also some interesting stuff regarding the schraders never having kids, as in there’s never any dialogue mentioning it or why that’s how things happened, but enough subtext and character moments to infer why they don’t have kids, and that this really bothers Marie, who clearly loves her sisters kids and likes looking after them. Either Marie is infertile or they also decided to not have kids because Hank has a dangerous job and he didn’t want to risk leaving them

try reading the second part of that post (it's a lot of words which is hard)

She's certainly an expert at stealing my semen.

hank married marie only a year or two before the series starts so I suppose they already could've been too old/established into their respective careers to have kids, isn't x-ray tech pretty respectable?

Based and correct. Anon Babble mouthbreathers can't into a subplot that doesn't have major ramifications for the main plot.

B-but how can unconnected things just happen like they do in real life?

She seems incredibly awkward
Just a frazzled mess of a woman

God I wish Marie would shoplift me

i'm so heckin angry that walt is a drug dealer because that affect me so much that I slap my sister and wish that walt woud just kill himself

pointless drama queen cunt

like they do in real life

you have no right to call others mouthbreathers, you smoothbrain midwit

the studios were trying to rehabilitate Wynona Ryder by generating sympathy for upper class shoplifters and framing the psychological compulsion as a medical disability.

Retard, how can you say that it shows how walts erratic actions were affecting his family when Marie was shown stealing BEFORE Walt started acting erratic. I think him and Jesse had only cooked once at the point where she's shown stealing

what was the point of Marie's kleptomaniac side story that led nowhere?

Give the character something to do and take up screen time until something important happened

Breaking Bad early seasons were so unserious. Many decisions were made without long-term planning. It's a campy dark comedy that accidentally evolved into something else.

Breaking Bad early seasons were so unserious

and the magnet van wasn't?

just sit down lil bro you're clearly lost

hurr she's stealing becsuse walts actions are affecting the rest of the family

but she was shown stealing before Walt got to the point where his behavior started spilling over into his personal life?

insert nigger speak

Imagine living such a boring life you decide to start stealing shit just to feel something lmao, do white women really?

teeveee show adds depth to character

/teevee/: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I've revised my original post to help you understand it better, as it became clear no amount of reflection would lead you there on your own. Let me know if you break any new ground

simple.png - 1916x384, 269.25K

It was to demonstrate Skylars reaction to a family member committing a crime. If she acts like this to Marie, imagine how her world would fall apart when she learns her husband is a meth dealer. Simple as, and you're all hopelessly retarded if you didn't realize.

why didn't marie stealing make her give ted a handjob?

She was going to therapy and doing well until Hank became a grumpy vegetable, which made her backslide
Brainlet

Imagine being so stupid that you don't understand what a parallel or a juxtaposition in a story is.
Maybe rewatch and pay attention

Imagine how crazy she in bed bros.
The way she looks in BCS is almost a prophecy coming true from the first ep of BB where she says to the camera "In 15 years I will look EXACTLY the same as I look now"

Wtf, people don't eat lasagna for dinner. Dropped!

!

I didn't think this out

it was to humanise and show the flaws of the extended characters in the series so that the world seemed more lived in and everyone around Walt wasn't just a plank of wood

imagine walt's poor mom trying to explain to the feds her son's supposed trip up to see her right around he started cooking meth
juanita got her revenge

The point was the show was trying to justify criminal activities

Um, making drugs and killing drug addicts is heckin based, who cares if countless Innocents get caught in the crossfire

Until it wasn't

You're a monster for liking Walt. He's LITERALLY a criminal.

Vince is a hack writer and Breaking Bad is legitimately on par with Harry Potter for childish, awful writing and world building

skilled domineering mature handjobs

domme.webm - 1080x720, 1.75M

She is a character breaking bad like Walt to a different degree to give contrast to Walts Breaking Bad.
And it just gives her more character and gives more context to her and Skylers relationship.

That's what makes her seem attainable

I thought that was Priti Patel for a moment.
