Why did Cruise think he needed to make it a 2 parter?
these movies were good at one point?
not really, but nothing has been good for a long time friend, its unironically over for all of us
now you’re just being a Grumpy Gus
It has to be really shit, because these movies are too easy to fuck up
im being a Realist Randy because i unloaded the truth on you whether you want to accept it or not, there is no future for any of us, unless you count disproven bs like family, kids etc,
The one where Tom Cruise climbs the burj khalifa is kino.
Did he do it for real when they were filming?
The first was good. It was nice to have spy action that wasnt Bond. Two was meh and had so much face swapping I grew bopred. I didnt watch again until 5 and everyone was orgasming, so I guess 3 and 4 were maybe good. The rest have been average for me, nothing really exciting, and are mostly vehicles for Cruise to do fun stunts.
He's just an old, white Jackie Chan with less punching and more talking.
So this is how last movie star fades?
It's good
This. The later big stunts in the series were pretty cool in themselves, but they all got ruined by slapping shitty CGI all over them.
doing your own stunts isn't a good thing, it's a massive liability and waste of time. insurance on tom cruise movies is probably completely insane because of his ego.
Except that a major draw of these movies is that fact.
I dont know what the inflection point is. I agree that for the vast vast majority of action stars, they should put their ego away and let the stuntmen do their jobs.
But for the rare exception like Cruise or Chan - the whole point is that they are doing their own stunts, and the movies would be harmed by not having it.

Afaik he finances his own movies so it's his money.

why do you support dishonesty?
Because I want actors that can act, not do stunts. And I want stuntmen that can do stunts, not act.
Most so-called action stars can’t really act, though. I can’t think of a single one who’s genuinely charismatic.
In fact, with John Wick, the whole appeal is that Keanu is quiet and does most of his own stunts.
A good example of a charismatic action star would be Bill Paxton in Aliens and Predator 2.
are
*were, ftfy
There's the thing. In the modern CGI era, doing one's own stunts is not as impressive as Chan in the 90s or Cruise in the 00s. I wish it was different because I can't stand CGI, but modern audiences are like raccoons with a shiny object.
Does Tom Cruise unironically only do movies so he stays respected and can funnel people into Scientology? He comes off as a high iq complete sociopath lmao
Keanu
Keanu works BECAUSE he is a wooden doll, but for a different reason. He is like Kevin Costner in the previous generation.
Their wooden, blank acting along with their every white guy look allows for every white guy to self-insert as them and be the badass.

Did Jackie Chan stop doing his own stunts? Because Cruise still is, and I only put those two actors in the "are" category. The rest I put in "shouldnt even try" category.
Except that a major draw of these movies is that fact.
literally never watched a movie because an actor does their own stunts.
1, 3, 4, and 6 were good. 5 was kind of forgettable, 2 was directed by John Woo and felt like a fever dream.
7 Part 1 was nothing special either. My hopes for Part 2 are kind of in the gutter, but I would be more than happy to be surprised. The whole AI story seems a little strange though.
Keanu works because people like the actor, not the acting.
his longtime stunt double
He owns his own insurance company because no one else would insure him.
It's not just doing your own stunts, it's doing your own stunts and the stunts are fucking cool.
Wacthing Tom Cruise actually do a HALO jump or fly a helicopter or hand outside a plane without any or minimal CGI makes the spectacle cool to watch.
Not really, even the first one is pretty mid. The kickass theme music unironically carried a lot of weight.
no
You get a greater cut by dividing the costs evenly between producing two films at a once while maintaining a higher pedigree of advertising at lower cost for the second.
early reviewers were shitting on top gun 2, then it blew the fuck up and they changed their song (a little)
reminder the little mermaid has made more money than dead reckoning
wokeness has won
and of course, Zendaya as Jean Grey
Ok, non binary troon person, I'm still going to go watch it.
Reviewers
everything from 3 onwards has been the best action movie of the year it came out, blowing away anything remotely related and killing the james bond franchise by being the same but better made
Worst I hear is that it just has a lot of exposition, but it's otherwise very good. Also that fans will really enjoy it.
Did Jackie Chan stop doing his own stunts?
I guess my person was wrong. It's not so much that these geriatrics are/aren't still doing their own stunts; it's moreso that modern viewers don't care as much--the demand is not as great. We (genx) used to get excited when we found out an actor did their own stunts; but it's less of a thing with younger audiences.
This is fake, right? They did not make that weirdo freak dysgenic bitch the new Rogue, did they?
The only one still making kino is Brad Pitt
