Movie is just overhyped to me. It's not terrible but it's not impressive. Ralph Fiennes carries the film but I just wasn't interested in seeing yet another Hollywood lib impression of Catholics.
The ironic thing was, the film made a decent point about the position of the pope. It IS an Italian institution, it's a tradition created by Italians.
the Jewish liberal cardinal was too on the nose, trying to promote more women in positions of power and radically altering everything to be more progressive.
Kind of says it all really. Open your doors by an inch and the outsiders will eventually try to keep it open to change everything within. Then call you a racist for not recognizing your own house. Keep the pope Italian, who gives a fuck.
