I miss when they would say "you just don't get it" instead of "media illiteracy"

goes to letterboxd just to get mad

V for Vendetta is genuine communist drivel and is extremely corny, it's shot and edited like a shitty kung-fu flick.

V for Vendetta 100% is a movie about how it's cool to be a terrorist though.
It lost the element of nuance that the comic had where it's made clear that V is absolutely not a good person, and doesn't care to be.

laughter misinterpreted as mad

Explains a lot.

he will never understand fight club is critiquing capitalism and bullshit masculinity

The movie was very on the nose about this…

>laughter misinterpreted as mad

Explains a lot

All four fucking suck. Real men are watching shit like Year of the Dragon or Lethal Weapon

Real men don't have to emphasize they're real men and make up contrived definitions to fit themselves into.

All The Wrong Reasons

because i need something to watch while i'm eating my dinner? ;__;

I don't think I'm Tyler Durden, I don't want to be Patrick Bateman, yes I know what these movies are trying to say but i still think they're cool characters or at the very least entertaining.

it's sympathetic to "toxic masculinity" though. That's the part the "media literacy" crowd don't understand.
It's saying "don't actually go psycho, but I get it". Because the modern world is shitty and artificial and emasculating.

Women just don't get it, young men like Fight Club because the idea of being part of something bigger than yourself feels attractive, fighting each other is very visceral and at that age you have that testosterone fueled trouble seeking attitude, it's like a release and feels right.
They don't feel the same way when the facade breaks and the truth is revealed (even though they should).
V for Vendetta and Matrix are liked because they're just cool, I don't know why that's supposedly a bad thing.
Men liking American Psycho is the most misunderstood thing by women ever, everyone understands that what Patrick does is wrong, even Anon Babble shitposters that pretend for shock value.
It's a great comedy and Patrick's aesthetics are top tier, we want his routine, not the bodies in his closet.

I don't want to look like Patrick at all. He's a yuppie.

Fight Club is literally about a guy who tries to fill the void inside of him with all kind of bullshit while slowly coming to the understanding that all he needs to feel complete is a gf

Don't think so. The guy who wrote it was gay.

No. It went over your head. The movie is about making the same mistake over again. Theres no diffeence between being a space monkey or an ikea boy. Its the same shit.
If you don't like what you're doing then do something else.
If your life is empty find meaning for yourself before you just jump heads first into the next church or fad diet, or whatever fotm comes along.

that doesn't change the point that the modern world is shitty, artificial, and emasculating.

i made a thread about how much i miss the old days but i'm totally laughing please believe me

kek sure

Durden and Bateman represent everything these weak and stupid people fear - a white man who doesn't apologize for anything and conquers his natural inferiors with impunity.

What he needed was someone to fill the void, you can be gay or straight and still sympathize with the idea of loneliness with someone on the other side.

Nooo you can't define something that can be interpreted in many different ways, that makes you not what you're interpreting!

Liberal retard

Both books were written by gay men, and both of those characters are quite clearly men the author wanted to fuck.
So the argument you're not supposed to like or find them alluring on some level, is just flat out wrong.

What someone needs to tell the "media literate" crowd, is that not everything has a straight forward moral, like a fairy tale, and you can analyse certain kinds of destructive male behaviours, without necessarily supporting or condemning them. Just as you document a lion, while knowing full well it would kill you, if you got too close.

but isn't the lion bad? Isn't it BAD when lions eat people? Tell me what to think! AAAA!

leftists when they weren’t in power: nothing is real maaaaaan everything is subjective and like a social construct

leftists when they’re in power: there is only one correct interpretation of anything and you’re a stupid counterrevolutionary if you don’t get it

"but we know"

say holes who spend the whole movie between checking their phones and asking you questions about the plot and the characters' motivations instead of just shutting the fuck up and paying a little bit of attention

Meanwhile every person with a complexion darker than a light tan worships Tony Montana and no one feels the need to remind them he is supposed to be the bad guy.

I just don't understand people that focus so much on what a movie's underlying allegories are or what it critiques.
Do you just disregard the entire thing you saw and focus on that one thing only?
Ok you just watched a movie about yuppie culture criticism and how everyone is the same to the point that the individual literally does not exist.
That's all you saw? There was nothing else in that movie? Or did you decide to go online like a brainlet and try to find discussions about the movie to then make articles where you huff your own farts about your own very narrow world view?

You're a pretentious nerd, by your own definition you don't fall under the concept of a real man. You can define a real man, sure, but you can't claim to be one by doing that, unless of course your definition is that pretentious nerds are real men. But the movies you mentioned are the opposite of what a pretentious nerd would like.

That person is right though, fa/tv/irgins of course just can't admit it

Both books were written by gay men, and both of those characters are quite clearly men the author wanted to fuck.

Nigga Bateman literally acts like a woman

vapid and shallow

obsessed with materistic retardation

self obsessed, espeecially about his looks

everything that inconveniences him is cause for a meltdown

He's basically Carrie Bradshaw with a dick
People are absolutely right on calling out men who identify with him, because he's a fucking faggot

whenever is see non-white people shitting on white men i always remember pic related and have a good laugh

And yet people dont see it and think Tyler Durden and Patrick Bateman are interchangeable personalities while the characters are diametrically opposed.

Awwww did you get your feelings hurt again, sugar?

I think a lot of these people didn't even see the movie. They just know you like it, and that there's something about it that irks them.

That is true. Bateman is basically who the narrator was at the beginning of Fight Club, and who he invented Tyler to get away from.

Perception dictates reality.
Not my fault if you've embraced being demoralized by consuming media you don't like.

It's the exact same thing as people complaining that people like Hank more than his bitch wife whose name I don't even know because I haven't watched Breaking Bad, where the leftist mind can't seperate reality from fiction and so they judge characters based on the morality of their actions instead of their entertainment value.

I'm demoralised by the fact the entire social system we live inside of seems to be constructed to annoy me constantly in little ways, as it forces me through unfulfilling ritual after unfulfilling ritual.

dude, wash your clothes

dude, brush your teeth

dude, there's ketchup on your shirt. You can't just walk around with ketchup on your shirt!

ketchup

You're an adult now. Your tastebuds have developed. You can enjoy the flavor of food now. Stop using ketchup.

dude, eat foods I say you're supposed to eat!

Yeah, there's another one.

I can’t imagine being so buckbroken by the dominant culture in which I live that I become tempted to chemically alter my own skin color as a desperate attempt to seem attractive. Must be hell lol.

'i wish i was white' phase

What the actual fuck.

But the narrator's criticism and rejection of capitalism leads to nothing but a weird, out of control communist cult that is even more dehumanizing and inhumane. Every member of Fight Club and Project Mayhem became nameless drones with shaved heads. How the fuck does anyone miss that?

posted by a braindead lefty

oh.....

That is the entire impulse behind cultural marxism, wokeness, DEI etc.
It's all a massive cope for ugly smelly browns because they weren't born white.

leftist media analysis

errrrm actually every movie and TV show ever made is a critique of white supremacy or capitalism or something

I mean, even if we look at the surface and pretend Tyler isn't just the narrator's delusions. Patrick is a jealous, envious, self-absorbed douche obsessed with material world and other's opinions of him, while simultaneously having no fucking care about his job, the only thing someone in his shoes could get legitimate pride out of. Tyler is naturally suave, sweats 'cool', but wants nothing to do with other people haves or thoughts. He's the one in charge and project mayhem is the only objective.
They are so remote from eachother, but some retards think they're the same.

ketchup bad now

Nigger what

nameless drones with shaved heads

Versus nameless drones with 60 dollar haircuts?

That's just Indian culture. Literally about a thousand years of cultural conditioning is telling them having a lighter skin tone makes you a more valuable person. They're crazier about this shit than actual Nazis are.

Well, they aren't wrong

vs having whatever haircut you want

consumerist chad

consumerist loser

That's either hell of a strach or a bait.

The narrator is the consumerist in Fight Club, not Tyler. Did you watch the movie with your TV shut off?

A lot of people on Anon Babble equate talking about something as being mad about it. If you mention anything at all you're mad about it.

What is the wrong reason for liking V for Vendetta? I guess zoomers agree with the comically presented authoritarian regime?

absolutely seething

Anon chill out

seems to be constructed to annoy me

You're not that important. You live in an uncaring unflinching universe. You are not obligated to eat the slop.

white guy is seen as the object of desire

I can only imagine the seethe from r/asianmasculinity

the same people who spend their lives complaining about racism and sexism also write articles about how FUCKING WHITE MEN like movies for the wrong reasons

This. Women are incapable of watching anything beyond soap operas without the help of a man explaining what's happening on screen

Back off of ketchup, ok??

I'm so fucking sick of queers. I'm at a point where I can honestly deal with more or less any group of people, except for queers. They're just begging to be wiped out.

You must not live around blacks

Imagine being black or brown. The worst part I think is being surrounded by black or brown people the whole time. I would feel sorry for them if they weren't so annoying and hateful

How the hell can you like a movie for the "wrong reasons". That's the most retarded thing I have ever heard.

Imagine being an adult white heterosexual man and all you do every day is cry how oppressed you are because you don’t like other people’s opinions

I don't. Money allows us to get away from blacks. It doesn't allow us to get away from queers. Being queer is literally just an "I get to be a pain in the ass MC syndrome diva constantly to everyone around me" costume.

He wanted to fuck his own sister. Dude had issues.

what is death of the author

media literacy types should try to develop some plain old literacy

This is cope btw

Anytime you say you can't stand fags some neurotic AGP anime pfp shows up to derail everything by accusing you of not hating blacks.

Meds, cope, seethe, dial 8 ect ect

Huh?

This is the direct opposite of reality lmao. Woketards entire identity is complaining about white people while creating nothing of value themselves.

The "wrong reasons" for enjoying these movies

Fight Club

You're not supposed to take what Durden says at face value

V for Vendetta

You're not supposed to find being a bomb-throwing anarchist cool

America Psycho

You're not supposed to idolize and want to be like Bateman

The Matrix

You're not supposed to take the redpill metaphor literally and become a sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic chud
