kino

Why can't you talk like a white adult with an intact frontal lobe?

When I watched it. Always heard it was one of the weakest Trek films so I had no expectations, ended up loving it. Even bought the novelization and read that. I recommend it to fans of the film, fleshes it out

JJ Trek is way better.

t. tourist

go back

It's pretty simple. Without TMP the other stuff wouldn't exist.

When Mike said this was his favorite Star Trek movie

It's not as good as Wrath of Khan and no amount of RLM shilling will ever change that.

1987. Thanks for asking

It's 10 times better than Wrath of Khan and no amount of crying about ecelebs will ever change that.

The original is boring but Anon Babble told me the director's cut was kino. Yet I can't even torrent it because nobody's seeding.

Its cool this movie is getting a lot of respect now after years of everyone and Kevin Smith saying its a boring movie.

stick to capeshit

You should kill yourself.

Always knew.
Wrath of Khan's better, tho.
Undiscovered Country's the best.

you are a nigger

the first time i watched it
its still not my favorite trek movie though

I think TMP is a good/decent but very flawed film. But it's ambitious (something you can't say about II-IV, and I haven't seen any of the films after that).

They were constantly rewriting the movie as they were filming it.

Undiscovered county is genuinely my favorite of the old trek movies.
Its not as artistic or broad in scope as TMP, but its just a really solid political thriller with a mystery they work to uncover.
Also V is a terribly flawed movie, but the production was genuinely cursed and its kind of a miracle they ended up with a movie at all.

When Trekkies started seething over it.
On the premise that anything those faggots like is bad and everything they hate is good, I watched it, and loved it.

So, like Apocalypse Now?
What's your point?

in the case of TMP it caused some continuity errors
The transporter malfunctioned and killed two people because Scotty was adamant that it wasn't ready yet.
Then five minutes later they're laughing at Bones for not wanting to use it. Granted, this scene was cut from the theatrical version.

Probably after I watched all the Star Trek movies. The thing about every odd numbered one being bad was still parroted a lot at the time and it's just complete nonsense.

it's ambitious

This is what Trekkies will never forgive.
They want the same safe, cosy, formulaic shit regurgitated in their faces every time.

every odd numbered one being bad

1 was slow and cerebral but it followed the beats of a TOS episode; not bad
3 was a necessary bridge between 2 and 4 and also had Christopher Lloyd and John Laroquette being based
5 was pilloried but honestly had great performances by Deforest Kelley as well as the guy who played 'bok
7 (generations) was hot garbage and a disservice to everyone involved

I watched all the ToS and Next Gen movies this year. All the ToS ones were pretty good. Next Gen ones were all pretty bad except Generations.

however, this same argument can be made for nutrek

Good as a tv episode. Terrible for a movie. Wrath of Khan is just what was need to revitalize the franchise.

My dad is a TOS boomer and didn't like it, but he only saw the theatrical version. He was OK with some of the ones after, but he always thought the show was better.

just what was need to devitalize the franchise

ftfy

it was one of the weakest trek films

it's the only film that's actually Star Trek

was she wearing panties underneath that?

I tried reading the novelization but it's a bit... odd. Gene wrote it himself.

You didn't like the part about the whole crew getting massive erections? lol

Kirk describing how monogamous marriage is seen as outdated in the 23rd century and people have "love coaches" assigned to them

Absolutely insane that this gets criticized for being slow and boring while 2001 is considered a classic masterpiece. I enjoyed this more.

IV and VI are very Star Trek conceptually. Rich Evans can go fuck himself.

On Dec 7, 1979 at 8 PM. Loved it then. Love it now.
PIC RELATED: Right after this scene the audience erupted into cheers it drowned out the sound.

based boomer

It was beautiful. The Fans deserved it.

I really like the movies, but yeah, they're not very trek like for the most part.

Make it like the TV show

people complain it's just a long episode

Make it different

people complain that it's not enough like the TV show

I think they found a pretty good middle ground

easily one of the greatest science fiction films ever made.
