Highest-grossing re-release for a movie in years

highest-grossing re-release for a movie in years

theater was packed

full of joyful children quoting all the lines they knew

crowd cheers when they see hayden christensen greet them at the start

Gen X tried to destroy the prequels. They drove Lucas to selling his life's work. And they failed in the end. Ironic.

starslop

grow up

noooo those pesky gen xers FORCED lucas to sellout for billions of dollars!

kek, star wars fags are so embarrassing

soon you'll be genx crying about all the Rian Johnson star wars kids who say disney star wars is star wars and dont even know who george lucas is

BASED

Saw it today (sweden). Same thing here, had a great time.

Kids are already old enough to have grown up with the Disney Star Wars sequels and be attached to them. Guess what, they aren't. No one speaks fondly of Rise of Skywalker of The Last Jedi. In fact no one speaks of those movies at all because they're soulless and forgettable.

How many times do you have to be told the sequels won't age like the prequels

im already seeing youtube essays pop up. Im tellin ya, its coming.

There's absolutely nothing like it, save for LOTR or the POTC

OT is overrated. Empire Strikes Back is not a 8.7 movie.

it's been 10 years since TFA released and not a single person remembers or talks about it. in fact, nobody even hates it anymore. meanwhile in 2015 prequels were already starting to be cult classics and were cemented into internet kultur

imagine if it was actually good though, like holy fuck you have the most kino universe and the best character ever Darth Vader... his fucking origin story!!!

my god what could have been, it hurts so much

in fact, nobody even hates it anymore. meanwhile in 2015 prequels were already starting to be cult classics and were cemented into internet kultur

Mass prequel hate is just a rewrite of history, the prequels were never hated except by the braindead consoomer types. All expanded universe stuff in the prequel era, especially the games, were beloved at the time. The didney trilogy has no such thing

the prequels were never hated except by the braindead consoomer types.

ok zoomer, thats not true.

they were universally panned by pretty much everyone, until you faggots grew up and started saying it was great.

re-release

after the remakes come the re-releases
go fuck yourself for making this viable

Would be funny if rerelease earned more than rise

they were universally panned by pretty much everyone

No, just by the message board obsessives who are butthurt that Star Wars dared be different and at least include some basic political intrigue. Everybody else was enjoying the prequels and the expanded world it was set in. The prequel era games and mods for Star Wars games were big

I am going to see it in the theater tomorrow! I already paid for the tickets so my money is added to the re-release record breaking gross! TAKE THAT DISNEY! FUCK YOU!

Yeah the message board obsessives like the writers, directors, and showrunners of mainstream television & films.

Disney Wars is too lame to be remembered for more than a month

full of joyful children quoting all the lines they knew

That sounds fucking awful.

That sounds fucking awful.

yeah exactly IM TRYING TO RELIVE MY CHILDHOOD HERE WILL YOU KIDS SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!

GEORGE LUCAS RAPED MY CHILDHOOD is a mainstream position

No, it was a cringe subculture of weird obsessives, and that includes those Gen Xers you cite

at the end the people will remember

Why spend so much time and effort trying to rehabilitate the prequels? I really don't get it. Just remake them at this point. In theory they could be good.

The entire arc of this movie is Anakin turning to the dark side to prevent Padme from dying during childbirth like in the dreams he's having, planted by Palpatine. Then he learns Padme dies during childbirth and cries in despair then doesn't say another word for the rest of the movie. Why does he even care about the empire or the dark side at that point?

From his point of view, peace, security, and justice are what the Empire represents.

planted by Palpatine

Not in the movie

Palpatine didn't proclaim himself Emperor until after Anakin had already switched sides and massacred the Jedi Temple (in fact he gave the speech as Anakin was finishing off the Separatist leadership on Mustafar). It was only just getting started.

Why does he even care about the empire or the dark side at that point?

His change in loyalties is shown to have a multitude of causes. His desperation to save Padme was the driving force, but his disillusionment and resentment had been building for years by that point.

outrage at not being made a Master

being ordered to spy on Palpatine, a man who was a father figure to him

combative relationship with the Jedi Council, especially Mace Windu and Yoda, who had both attempted to block his apprenticeship in the first place

personal ambition and greed

Fear of Padme's impending death was the final straw, what made him so irrational that he completely failed to see that Palpatine was playing him like a fiddle.

Smol Anne.jpg - 1355x1996, 446.46K

He was fighting a war against seperatists for years without being given the role of a master jedi and had his own apprentice. The jedi were using him to prop up a failing regime even without considering that Padme was kicked out of office on her home planet all to be his wife in secret instead of ruling by his side

In theory communism works

Still doesn't explain why Anakin no longer gives a fuck about Palpatine's promise of eternal life after Padme dies

It's a bad movie that everyone made memes making fun for twenty years. It's like a vintage Minecraft Movie.

Anakin was never interested in eternal life. What he wanted was power over life and death to save Padme.
When she died, he was left with nothing but his hate for both the galaxy and himself.

So why didn’t Lucas show that? If Darth Vader is a product of despair, we still never see him despairing beyond the NOOOOO

I would see it at the cinema but Ive seen it enough. Also I dont want to cry in public.

OT = Good + Soul
PT = Bad + Soul
ST = Bad + Soulless

The zoomers have won without irony. Soon all boomers and generation X will die out and the hatred of the prequels will disappear. (as well as the love for Jews, lol)

Zoomers got lucky with the Star Wars cartoons during their youth.

True, based, checked and kekked. The prequels are eternally kino. I'm excited to watch the 20th anniversary re-release of Revenge Of The Sith at my local theater later today. I always love the prequels no matter what.
