first half is Ash gathering more badges, Team Rocket fails comically

second half is practically a remake of the first animated Mewtwo movie, same story

The movie will play around the League, mostly, with Team Rocket scheming, other trainers, etc

Ash LOSES the league and it's a plot twist to the viewer

However, it ends in a very optimistic tone about how big the world and how good it is to strive for more, to catch em all and so on

Ash hop on a Lapras and there is a hook for potential sequels

There, you've got 3 Billion right there minimum, producers would beg me to work on a sequel trilogy.

No but I was surprised to learn recently that there is a fairly easy glitch in Crystal to encounter a Mew.

What would that be?

Make it from the perspective of someone who got his ass beaten by Ash. His pokemon was severly hurt and couldn't walk anymore, and now he's trying to make a living as a journalist. He then stumbles across a plot to clone hybrid pokemons with devastating powers and he is forced to team up with Ash to save the day.

I've been daydreaming this ever since the late 90s.

-Opening scene of an asteroid heading towards earth. It tumbles in the sunlight with rainbow colors. It's full of energy stones. It crashes into the earth.
-Montage of dinosaurs and animals dying, with some having multicolor radiation burns. The irradiated ones develop powers.
-Quick montage of human history from cavemen to modern day- humans dealing with demigod like animals. Mostly fighting against them, but some working with them.
-Cut to kid sleeping in class. What we saw in the opening is what is being taught. The kid is Ash, a very young Ash.
-Ash is best friends with Gary. They're now down by the lake south of Pallet Town. They talk and point out over the water to where Gary's parents are. They're working on an island, doing science.
-In the distance, over the horizon, a small pinprick of orange glow. Barely noticeable in the evening. Gary freaks out and runs home.
-The explosion must have been massive to have been seen from this distance... his parents were working on a volcanic island after all
-Ash stays behind, trying to see. Then sees a supersonic streak across the sky, coming from the sea, from the glow... something is travelling... flying... very fast (it's Mewtwo fyi)
-Ash tries to tell people what he saw, but everyone is distraught. Something happened on the island, Cinnabar island. Garys parent are probably dead, and he punches Ash thinking Ash is making up stories to be the center of attention.
-Cut to "present" day Ash. Late for his first Pokemon...

Last movie uses bits from the anime feature films, mostly Mewtwo Strikes Back, to make a compelling ending for Red/Gold/Giovanni's stories.
Not sprinkle hints and cameos across the first two. The first two should be as faithfully adapted as possible so when shit goes crazy in movie 3 its extra impactful

That's the only way. Also have Ash find a VHS of "Stand By Me" but ultimately choose "Championship of 1998". Then during the film see it play on TV near the kitchen area of his house like in the game.

Everybody not taking this opportunity to delete gay Ash and write CHAD RED are lame and retarded. Pokemon Origins and Generations are what the anime should have been 25 years ago

I really like this as an in-world explanation for Pokemon. Its better than whatever Nintendo have come up with.

To see off the inevitable plothole of how humans were unaffected from getting irradiated by the stones, you could add to your theory by saying they were. Humans were given the greatest of all abilities: natural dominion over the irradiated animals.

No. Adult Ash is Jensen Ackles. But only for the start of the film.

Make it so the Pokemon world went through a massive war 20-30 years ago. Technology got to the point where cloning and genetic experimentation were widely used and abused and some of the Pokemon are results of that and some were created to be war machines. Professor Oak recruits Ash (15-17 years old) to help him catalogue the pokemon because no concrete centralized database exists of all the weird pokemon that were created in labs and set loose. You can have flashbacks to the destruction and ruins spread around that the characters explore.

This is also why Jenny and Joy are the same everywhere, they were literally cloned because of a critical loss in manpower for policing and healthcare roles during the rebuilding.

First movie is Ash recruiting others to help him with his quest and ends with them uncovering Giovanni's plan to clone Mew. Giovanni realizes that the period of lawlessness and corruption of the post-war is ending and his power will fade, so he wants to have a godlike pokemon. Second movie is them fighting Mewtwo and taking down Giovanni. Misty, Ash's love interest, dies. Third movie is finding Celebi to undo the destruction from the fallout of Mewtwo. However Ash can't stay in this fixed timeline and has to return to his original timeline, but gets closure with past Misty.

Also there are memes like Pikachu face to make execs happy.
