one of the coens is now in an open marriage with a literal lesbian

Because they were adapting a McCarthy novel, dipshit. The movie was all McCarthy, not the Coens. Every line of dialogue was written by him

Its mid

nahh be for real anon, that's too far out even for hollywood
hey cool it with the hate for the disabled

Something something Jewish

dude le nihilism, so kino :OOO

I feel like I'm taking some kind of bait just having to explain this, but the movie is just as much a product of the Coens' stylistic and thematic vision as it is of McCarthy's narrative genius. It was a perfect marriage.

Big Lebowski is the best Coen movie though

trump first term truly mindbroke all hollywood jews

what is some other "fuck you, fairy tale endings are for children" kino? Haneke's Funny Games scratched a similar itch. anything else that has that same vibe?

Something something trump

Something something joos

I haven't seen any of those, but I do really like Oscar Isaac. I'll have to put Llewyn Davis on soon.

if it's such a good movie then how come there's no sequel?

You didn't like Burn After Reading?

Every Coen Brothers movie is good

2 Country 2 Men: Chigurh's Revenge

It went hard downhill after they killed the main progatonist, offscreen even... horrible movie desu

You know what the timestamp is on this thread?

No.

04/04/25(Fri)16:16:43. It's been bumping 14 minutes to get here. And now it's here. And it's either doubles or singles, and you have to roll. Check it.

Because There Are No Clean Getwaways.

Not a single one? YMMV but you can't really go wrong with either of them. (If you aren't familiar with the Book of Job make sure to do some homework about it before Serious Man )

Only True Grit is on par with older Coen Brothers movies

Read the OP again

Alright then....checkem

Have you been checking doubles wrong your whole life, or did you marry into it?

Intolerable Cruelty and the Ladykillers are mid, but otherwise yeah. Their consistency is remarkable.

There Are No Clean Getaways

what implications does this have for the Epstein Files?

The strange way they all talk in this is very distracting.

People watch movies for escapism, not be splashed with reality that they're already well aware of.

Did we ever figure out what agua means?

Hail Caesar and Burn After Reading are exactly like The Ladykillers

not the accountantman

The universe isn't nihilistic. McCarthy was some jew-loving deist weirdo.

Is the original novel worth reading?

agua bendita. he was supposed to use the holy water to sanctify the dying man's corpse for the prevention of a vengeful spirit

No it's exactly the same nihilist slop that the movie is

Yeah, I'm sure it's just a coincidence that NCFOM is the only good movie the Coen brothers ever made then, right, retard?

Big Lebowski is far better.

In real life it's a drink made from one part hydrogen and two parts of oxygen atoms that's quite popular down in Mexico. It's unambiguous whether the American characters in the movie knew about this. Llewellyn probably went back to the wounded gunman to ask him about this, as the thought of not know what he did mean by it kept him awake at night. Him remembering how dirty he was puts emphasis on his attentive nature, while him taking some water with him so the Mexican can wash his face and whatnot indicates empathy.

If you have some free time on a rainy afternoon or two sure. It's not too McCarthy-like, let me add, in a sense that the beautiful prose he's known for is way more scarce than in his most famous novels (sans The Road maybe, but it's been a while since I read it). The main difference is that the novel is very straightforward about the fact that Sheriff Bell is the protagonist, while the film elevates all of them on the same platform. The Coens did a great job of trimming the fat, so to speak; which doesn't mean the additional content on the book isn't worthwhile. You just have to cut some corners here and there if you want to keep the runtime of a movie at bay.

I really like the production, cinematography, acting, and the film is gigacomfy on top of all that. But the message the film conveys when Tommy Lee Jones is talking to the old guy in the chair is really jewy.

the wave of senseless violence and degeneracy is nothing new, goy

it happened to your grandparents and to their grandparents too, goy

don't try to fight it, goy

just accept it, goy

Good film otherwise.

that's true though. we dress it up but people have always survived by the laws of the jungle

You're politicizing it. It's not a political message. It's simply saying how senseless violence has always existed. That's like saying a story with the theme "greed is bad" is anti-capitalist commie propaganda. Learn to separate your petty short-sighted politics from timeless human adages

this the typa nigga to read homer and think mt olympus is a metaphor for zionist israel

how's the lion the king of the jungle when lions don't live in the jungle, retard? you just say things you hear on tv. you don't know.

stop noticing it, goy!!!

Shalom!

How do you even function in society being this much of a brainrotten faggot?

jews have their volcano god, yahweh. greeks have zeus. scientologists have lord xenu. islamists have moohamid who met allah on a volcano. everyone has their own volcano alien. they're all the elohim by different names.

I like this song
the thumbnail looks like he's eating her ass and she's loving it

A Serious Man is excellent.

you are a vulgar creature who should be tossed into a volcano.

it's very kind of you to help me ascend to volcano alien

dude things aren't worse, you're just old

Bullshit message. By every measurable standard, America is getting worse, to the point where it's becoming unlivable.

This is why politically brainrotten fags will never be able to enjoy film and their opinions should be discarded automatically

If only everyone could just turn off their brain to subversive jewish messaging and enjoy the bright lights and fancy colors.

this dude is unironically a jew using Anon Babble lmfaooooooo

Yeah, if only you could turn off your paranoid schizophrenic delusions. I think they make pills for that

Yeah, everyone who likes No Country for Old Men is a Jew. I guess that makes half of Anon Babble Jews then, who knew

Jew.

Tricia Cooke. It's real breh

Is the Jew in the room with us right now?

I'm retarded but I've read NCFOM, The Road, Child of God, Blood Meridian, and Sunset Limited and I feel like McCarthy's whole thesis is about the value of hope and faith in a fallen world. Even more retarded fags seem to think he's some kind of evil, nihilist gnostic or atheist but it reads to me as a desperate reach for faith, bathed in all that Catholic fear and horror. We're all Job in McCarthy's world.
I think the point isn't that things aren't getting worse but that people have always had to put up with the world being a pretty terrible place, and had to find love and faith within that and accept themselves as a part of the world, there's a little Heidegger in there
Feeling the burden of the collapse of the entire age, that the whole world and it's deepening sin are upon your shoulders?
It ain't all waiting on you. That's vanity.

I liked the book, it's very similar to the movie with a slightly different ending and far more monologues from the sheriff, each chapter has a supplemental chapter in between where Tommy Lee's character talks about his past with exposition about the story. I really enjoyed it. If you haven't read McCarthy before though you might not like his run-on descriptions of things.

trying to explain nuanced themes and philosophy to Anon Babblefags

Sisyphean behavior

It ain't all waiting on you. That's vanity.

yes goyim, forget about your individualism, you're part of the global village now

That's not what I took from the movie or the book, it's more that the world keeps becoming a worse place with each generation and you can't stop what is coming you can only be vigilant and try not to allow it to corrupt you as well. I have seen this film more times than I can remember.

I wonder if Anon Babble retards behave the same way IRL. most likely they never leave their bedroom so moot point

just imagine me happy anon
(:

hopefully trolling but i'll pray for you man

The Great Silence.

And then i woke up

Le "it was all a dream'' bs, pure hack writing. I left the theater right after.

And then I woke up

Fucking sick of these woke ass movies
