Largely just contrarianism, people who haven't seen a single movie, or ausitically piss their pants because there's no four act story. The rest is that he is a bitter old curmudgeon that usually gives the most sour take on anything he can.

He is personally a very unhappy, unfulfilled man who loves making public statements about how miserable he is and what's wrong with the world. He doesn't even seem to like his own creative output. He's just not a nice man. Inflammatory statements receive critical reaction, nothing new.
