when your friend visiting wants to visit Starbucks because it's 'authentic'

lolingatyou.webm - 1440x1080, 3.85M

that show was filmed 30 years ago man, seattle sucks to live in now

Everywhere sucks to live. People say this about literally every fucking city, state, town, in the entire US. People just love to fucking complain and be negative. Depending on the person I'm sure Seattle could still be a good fit depending on the person in 2025.

This. Plus the main character is filthy rich, so it's obviously going to seem glamorous.

Tv isn't reality

Yeah, Amazon fucked the city. The entire downtown is now used up for Amazon employees and you can't find anyplace to live

okay enjoy paying $3k a month for a studio and hoping your car doesn’t get broken into weekly

hosts a call in radio show in a B/C-tier market like 90s Seattle

lives like a multi millionaire

He'd have a non-descript 2 bedroom apt with a small balcony and a shit view at best

Again, people say some shit like this about literally every city.

He was Harvard educated and had a number one drive time. Plus, base Bebe got him paid.

Seattle isn't going to be anything like the show and its filled with homeless people/drug addicts/charity muggers lol

Seattle is pretty shitty though desu. It's overrun with entitled bums, expensive, and dreary (I lived in belltown on college). I grew up in Centralia, and even though most people would call it a boring small town, I much prefer living there.

He was making 250k a year before inflation in season 1.

he'd also been a practising psychiatrist in boston for years.

entitled bums

Tell me you watch Fox News without telling me lol

One more thing I will say, even though it's a cesspool, I was never mugged or felt in danger. The homeless are very aggressive, but they never got physical, at least with me.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off makes me want to live in Chicago every time i watch it.... I've started looking at zillow apartments there. I hope there winters aren't THAT bad, I'm used to texas weather

Most of them had real jobs probably until Amazon fucked the down up.

I guess you've never been to the PNW they make it very clear that they feel entitled to your money.

I would go to the police to report it, no problem

Bums do that to natural victims. It's the way you look and act towards them.

yeah because literally every city is like that with varying intensity. it’s almost as
if the quality of life in every major populace has drastically decreased for economic and social reasons since that show aired.

This show is convincing me to move to Seattle

You'll need a time machine. 90s Seattle doesn't exist any more. The streets are filled with trash and junkies.

i live in the chicago suburbs and am
very familiar with the area that the movie would be in. not worth it and it’s not like that at all unless you’re a jewish family with generational wealth.

if the quality of life in every major populace has drastically decreased for economic and social reasons since that show aired.

Only if you're poor, anon.

So why bring it up constantly? If they all suck then it's the new normal. I don't need to hear about the fucking homeless drowning out all discussion every time someone mentions some city. Like just shut the fuck up, cities are still were the jobs are, there's more to fucking discuss than

brooooooooo the homeless broooooo

Thanks, Bezos!!

it's nothing like that show. you just want to go back in time to the 1990s. that's what you're actually seeing.

again, literally the exact same shit as what other anons say about seattle. I refuse to listen to this fucking garbage downer shit, literally you should not be allowed to shit on some place unless you suggest a concrete alternative

you can make six figgies in seattle or san fran all you want but it won’t take you as far as it will someone in an area with a rational cost of living

Also, you can tell the flyovers who visit cities as they ALWAYS fucking complain about the Homeless. Cities have and always will have homeless because Jim and Barb will always give them money. In reality, if you don't pay attention to them you'll never notice them.

no, most places are perfectly fine. stop looking at the hottest places where every redditor faggot and dumb cunt goes to.

That's because everything sucks, retard. Culture has been eradicated thanks to social media and the radical left. Everywhere's the same.

"I want to move to X because I saw it in an ancient fictional movie and I have the mind of an actual child"

"I actually live there and it's a shithole"

"REEEEEEEEEEE HOW DARE YOU ARGUE WITH THE MOVIE / MY INFANTILE FANTASIES !"

here's a suggestion: suicide

6 figures

That's not even rich at this point. You're only really rich when you stop paying taxes.

you live in rural michigan 30-45 minutes from multiple major cities and own 40 acres of land for less than $100k

you should not be allowed to shit on some place unless you suggest a concrete alternative

What, do you have a time machine, you retarded faggot?

"I actually live there and it's a shithole"

t poor fag

commuting 2 hours every day

I'd rather see a homeless person literally sleeping in the hallway of my apartment than deal with that garbage

The homeless only would if you have some fucking newfag giving them money. NYC only has homeless in the tourist areas.

My country does not have any homeless.

Were they all sent to the front line to participate in a special 2 week operation?

No, but I'm sure many of the weapons we've sent to Ukraine has killed plenty of "homeless" russoids.

I've never watched Frasier. Is it any good?

What fresh schizo nonsense is this

Yes it's great. I do a rewatch of it every year.

Fantastic.

Anyone in this thread complaining about Seattle actually lived here or even visited? I have a feeling the answer is probably no, and everyone here probably advocates for living rural and having your own farm with a tradwife they'll never have.

Seattle has gone down hill since the mid teens. Amazon bought up huge chunks of the downtown for offices and because of that the housing is insane.

i walked around tokyo for two weeks and i only saw two homeless people

i envy you burgers living in big cities. must be cool to see the place you live in in world famous media.

Is it any good?

Oh, yes, definitely.

It's fantastic. It's my go to comfy show, that's also genuinely funny.
It does drop off a bit in the last 4 seasons or so, but not to the point where it's not worth watching. The first 6 or 7 seasons or so though are as comfy as a sitcom can get. Grammer and Pierce are also genuinely talented and funny guys, who elevate the show far beyond the average sitcom. It's also about something that you'd never see anyone touch today, namely upper class white guys.

I've been building a list of every wine, book, opera, luxury fashion brand or item, gourmet meal, classical music piece, and other things that are namedropped in Frasier. Something I do from time to time while I have Frasier playing as background noise. It's still incomplete, there are gaps here and there.

I made this for myself so that I can improve myself and my self image, when I am in a better financial state. I have already been listening to more classical music and opera from time to time.

Most of the homeless hang around the Amazon offices due to the flyovers and guilty jeets giving them money

I actually bought one of Frasier's African figures a few years back. Turns out, my father had this memento that his father had bought at a World's Fair in England in 1924. One day while watching Frasier, I noticed the Frasier actually had one of those, and I looked it up and managed to figure out what it was.
Incidentally, some woman who used to work for my father owns an art store that specializes in African art, figures and furniture (she travels there yearly and buys the shit personally), so I went there, managed to find one and bought one for my father. So now he has the tiny memento from his father, and a full size, authentic African figure that he got from me, his son.
On another note, I plan to get Frasier's chair. Not the meme chair that Martin owns, but the one he has in the back, near the balcony. It's an Eames Lounge Chair, and I think they cost around $10k. I'm not going to pay that much for a chair though, so I'll likely get an identical replica.

Here's the one from the show.

I would check out antique stores unironically, many should have a chair like that for much cheaper than new.

based knower

Nah, those chairs retain their value, and I believe the old ones are collector's items. They're still making new ones, but I think the early ones from the 50s are probably worth more, if they're in good condition.
You can get replicas for about $1k, and the quality is about the same. With Eames, you're just paying for the name, not the quality.

fuck off we're full

you could live in a nice small town in western indiana/southern wisconsin and just drive to chicago occasionally. it would be an infinitely better experience than to live with the insane nogs that infest this city.

That's a cool story, thanks for sharing!

I also hope to get an Eames chair, or a similar one. I am also hoping to get other things seen in his apartment like his Tizio desk lamp and some other things that look similar but aren't the same.

I also suggest yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets and estate sales. Reason being that a lot of the interior design seen throughout Frasier is all high end classy decor and aesthetic from the 80's and 90's, which is today referred to as Frasurbane.

are.na/evan-collins-1522646491/frasurbane

If you're gonna get the furniture, decor, clothes, etc., I'm betting that it will all be lumped in with the possessions of aging or dead boomers. Specifically former yuppies and other middle or upper class types.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm DEFINITELY getting a replica, lol!

Too expensive, the people are insular, you're competing with ultra rich tech bros and there are homeless everywhere

ultra rich tech bros and there are homeless everywhere

Just like San Fran.

every day i eat tossed salad and scrambled eggs

Tizio desk lamp

You can get that style of lamp in a million different variants. I'm not sure they're in style anymore, but they still sell similar ones everywhere.
I've been looking for another one of Frasier's lamps that you rarely see. It's in a corner somewhere, next to the kitchen. Unfortunately, I couldn't a picture.
Btw, if you like Frasier's African art collection, you should go for that. African art is shockingly cheap. The one I got was an authentic Ashanti figure from Ghana, and almost everything in that store was incredibly cheap compared to other types of art. In other words, if you want to copy one part of Frasier's style, that's the most affordable option, and also the most unique one.
Personally, I like African figures, despite being racist by most standards. That, and South-East Asian art. I've got a nice collection of masks and figures from primitive cultures, and they're really just timeless pieces that'll fit into any home, whether you're middle class or upper class.

a lot of shit and needles on the ground. overcast too.

The Japanese restaurant my wife and I go to has this aesthetic. It's so fucking comfy.

I lived in Seattle for 5 years. It sucks and there are way too many Indian tech workers and their decrepit parents on visas in that area now. They have ruined the PNW more than the homeless meth heads.

I'd rather live on the olympic penninsula or in Oregon honestly. Big city life isn't really for me.
I fucking hate the suburbs though, I just want some land and not to see my neighbors.

I doubt that was an issue 30 years ago.

live near an urban metro

commute two hours a day to travel thirty miles round trip

They don’t think it be like it is but it do

Ok, but OP wants to move to Seattle right now, not 30 years ago.

No, the people of the North West were at one point very 'fuck the government' type of people, eventually with Microsoft moving their and bigger businesses they said yeah okay go ahead and build and we'll get new sidewalks and schools and then suddenly your nice downtown apartment overlooking the water and pike market has a highway running in front of it and the cost of living is through the roof

They didn’t even film in Seattle except for one episode. 99% of the shots are in California, except they green screen Seattle in the background for frasier’s apartment.

Too bad. There's no place worth living in the US in 2025, so he better get a time machine.

Enjoy the open drug use and aggressive homeless in tents everywhere

Boston is a pretty good city granted you have an ivy league degree.

Boston

44% white

Nope.

It’s 90s big bang theory and this makes normalfags who don’t realize they’re normalfags seethe.

Boston is an insanely safe city.

It’s all about luck at the end of the day. On paper, Boston is one of the nicest, safest large cities in the U.S. St. Louis is one of the worst. In spite of this, in the nearing 20 years I’ve lived in St. Louis, the worst thing I’ve had happen to me is a package stolen off my porch - once. I spent 3 days in Boston and had 3 homeless men pull out knives and chase me for not giving them money and ignoring them, and in another instance I saw some mentally ill schizoid dressed like a demon scream into a 3 year old girl’s face because she hid behind her mom when they waked by him(?). Statistics don’t lie and I’m sure Boston is much better overall as the numbers indicate, but because that was my first impression I can’t think of it as anything other than a weirdo and hobo hive.

boston is expensive, and not as nice as portrayed

t. Cambridge resident

I spent 3 days in Boston and had 3 homeless men pull out knives

Were they black?

and not as nice as portrayed

As an outsider, it's not really portrayed as being very comfy. It's like a rainy brick shithole with drunken americans larping as drunken irishmen.

How is Cambridge for non-students?

If you want to move to Seattle, move to Tacoma, Olympia, or Bellingham instead.

All of the good parts of living in Washington, none of the urban dystopia. Lifelong Seattle resident, it's a shithole now. I'm moving this summer after living here for decades.

Su-su-suicide

Bird Niles.png - 1200x911, 920.58K

Chicago and Detroit are the most underrated big cities to live in if you can handle the cold

There was a tard in the last Good Will Hunting thread who kept insisting that Cambridge could never be considered apart of Boston in casual conversation. Are you him?

Tacoma

good parts

Tacoma makes Seattle look like a utopia by comparison.

Detroit

You serious?

Apart or a part?

A part. My bad.

yeah, the gentrification is going pretty well

Chicago is overrated. Detroit is massively underrated because people think it's like Mad Max.

The real sleeper is Buffalo. We're a few years away from people in the rest of New York realizing Buffalo isn't a shithole anymore and it's going to blow up.

Not to trigger anyone, but any decent transit-oriented developments? Bike lanes?

You're supposed to call me a faggot for trying to correct you.

Tacoma is way nicer than Seattle and has been for the better part of twenty years now. People only ignore it because of reputation.

Huh. Two dubs posts in a row.

You're supposed to call me a faggot for trying to correct you.

I like actually having discussions.

I like actually having discussions.

Ah yes, I remember mid-2000s Anon Babble.

If you work in biotech, medicine, or tech not bad. Parking is a fucking bitch and you get a permit for areas you can park and if you forget to put it up it's a ticket

no, not me. Anyone who thinks like that is a serious faggot. If you're in the circle, you're in Boston. The people who talk like they are 'cambridge or somerville' seriously think Soho and Tribeca are distinct from NYC and smell their own farts.

bostonproper.png - 1056x819, 358.98K

Where the fuck in Boston did this happen.

Detroit was cleared out and is now the Quicken guy's private city.

Don't tell that to Brookline/Cambridge/Everett. You'll get beat up for saying they live in Boston.

seriously, I hate these faggots.

mapoffaggots.png - 1153x1121, 288.63K

Staten Island

Brookline nearly entirely surrounded by Boston

somehow isn't boston

And those psycho cocksuckers get so fucking mad if you refer to it as Boston.

no, not me. Anyone who thinks like that is a serious faggot. If you're in the circle, you're in Boston. The people who talk like they are 'cambridge or somerville' seriously think Soho and Tribeca are distinct from NYC and smell their own farts.

Exactly. I mean, just look at this picture. Cambridge not apart of Boston? Retardation.

they make it very clear that they feel entitled to your money.

Fuck those dead beats. Try to take my money personally. No beta shit using gubberment

Put any of those people in any other city in the country and they won't shut up about living in Boston, either.

Because Harvard, literally the only reason. The Ramen Shop mall there is fucking amazing, though.

They'll say they live in Brookline which is nicer than Boston with better restaurants.

He’s a doctor he probably has a practice on the side.

t. didn't watch the show

He left private practice until season 3 or 4 I believe.

It's almost like a group of satan's chosen people are trying to destroy the west. I also can't help but notice the leaders of Caucasophobia always have an ugly hook nose

I was there for work for 3 months last year. There are a bunch of freaks running around but it was still very nice.

No, you obviously don't live here. There's halfway houses littered all over downtown and soup kitchens right in the the busiest areas. Homeless wreak havoc around there and will pitch a tent right outside. Seattle is their playground. Not even going to talk about the homeless that get bussed in from different parts of the country.

This poster is right, indians and chinese have overran the city

Blame governor Hotwheels for that shit

indians and chinese have overran the city

T-thanks Bezos...

There is a nice area that Dan Gilbert cleaned up and it's unrecognizable from 15 years ago. Cops everywhere, good food, homeless all got booted out. Genuinely a nice place to visit.

There's also like an exclusion zone 2-3 miles surrounding downtown which is completely cleared out.

Any good articles or books on this?

i grew up in vancouver but i hate gay canada, so seattle seems like the ideal place for me.

lmao wtf

google "gentrification of detroit" and bask in liberals seething that a billionaire fixed in 5 years what 40 years of incompetent black mayors wrought

liberals seething

Who do you think lives there, drinking at the boutique bars and enjoying farm to table restaurants?

white liberals complain that white people fixed what black people destroyed

white liberals enjoy it anyway

Both things can be true. Cognitive dissonance is what they do best

This. At least now we have folks that support Trump taking America back and making everywhere great to live again. The small town I live in has a lot of people driving trucks again, blasting Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band, some of the bars are having redneck nights, things are really coming back. At the Walmart I shop at there was some blue haired fag and this big farm boy farted on him and the fag couldn’t do anything about it. Just be patient. Things are getting better.

You fags created Trump, retard. The left radicalized to the point of parody, and instead of backing away from it after Trump won in 2016, you doubled down. The usual conservatives were too cowardly to fight back, so people who didn't agree with the radical left, has nowhere to turn but to a populist (((cunt))) like Trump.

I went to Boston over Christmas with my family. Couldn't believe how hard it mogged NYC. I'd fucking live there if I wasn't greedy. Beautiful place. All the best architecture in America is the oldest, i.e. literally on the water of the East Coast. (See Annapolis MD too)

>white liberals complain that white people fixed what black people destroyed

Detroit collapsed due to Ford and GM fucking with the economy of the city and then abandoning it. We're seeing that happen to San Fran and Seattle rn.

Providence and Worcester are also really nice and comfy as well. It's a shame Fall River is such a shithole as it's an amazing location.

Fuck you dumb liberal bitch, I’m Christian, masculine, and a real American. You just a little bitch.

Fuck off, you russian cunt.

Oh shit, is this the wrong group text?

It's a left wing goy trying to larp as a nu-right wing goy.

They are sitting by watching the economy collapse, our security be sold out to the Israelis, and a pending bailout of Tesla and have no recourse but to shit up a Fraiser thread.

That's entirely bipartisan.

Where did my brothers in Frasier go?
