Daleks aren't an allegory for Nazis, and if they are, they're a really shitty allegory for Nazis.
Discuss.

Yep ai categorized

In lines at one side le cringe and to le other le basadé

What the fuck happened, why are there four threads?

This was the previous thread archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/210929666
It got deleted, I am guessing due to the Barneyfag at the very end? So the multi-threads must just be from anons all at the same time creating a new one.

Ah yes, the Nazis who famously were warped into mutants by a thousand year nuclear war, and had to live inside little tanks, lived entirely within one city, and when met with outsiders, were courteous enough to lock them in a cell and regularly feed them

Right... Thank you for this scathing satire, Terry Nation.

I'm surprised it took janny this long to act on blatant leebait like that

That's scary. Imagine that amount of dopamine pumping through your brain at all times.

The whole the Daleks equal Nazis only truly gets pushed come Genesis of the Daleks where the Kaleds invoke them. I know it is said that even before that the Daleks were influenced by the Nazis, but really before Genesis the Daleks are just generic imperialists.

Cybermen are a bang on allegory for commies however.

I don't think they're even imperialists in the original story. They're not conquering anything. they're just squatting in some ancient city.

They were being genocided.

If you're not comfortable with the idea of living next door to him you're a bigot.

True. I was thinking more Dalek Invasion of Earth, Day of the Daleks, Planet of the Daleks type stories. First serial with the Daleks is more tapping into fears about nuclear war and radiation.

You'd think, but in theory they're an allegory for pacemakers...

Other than The Tenth Planet do any of the other stories try to even go that angle? You could maybe argue Age of Steel sort of does with Lumnic, but a lot of that is more some 'mobile phones may be bad' and 'let's get to the stompy robots'. World Enough and Time is body horror, I do not see it as properly matching the original intention behind the creator.

This thread was first

Age of Steel predicted iPhones.

This thread is just more active. We may as well stay in this one. Unless you are OP of that one (and why would you give that much of a shit which thread actually gets used) or have some particular brand of autism, what does it matter?

Varada looks like Nicki I can't unsee it

nicki.jpg - 500x500, 73.32K

I'm terminally faceblind.

We know.

bi-generation

It's not an autism thing specifically.

Majority rules, nerd.

I didn't even mention autism in my post, why are you bringing it up aside from projection?

I'm OP of the other thread and I'm not and I really don't mind that a different thread was made seconds after mine and is getting more used from having a more attention-grabbing image.

i always thought visual effects were the one thing holding science fiction back

That's why the Target novelizations were better.

Classic Doctor Who serial

It's about the Daleks

Title at the very begging tells you it is about the Daleks

Presents it as if the audience should be surprised when the Daleks get revealed

I get why they with the putting Dalek in ever title, but treating it as then some reveal is just odd to me.

The surprise is for the characters, not for the audience.

With how it dumbed them down, it certainly was. If this was in a RTD1 episode you'd probably see a strain of Doctor Who porn in a similar niche to Cybus where you'd see people turned into cartoons by Ring a Ding.

even worse when it's not until the part 1 cliffhanger when they're revealed

It's pretty nice there's some uniformity with the novelization's now but they do look a bit bland in comparison to the older covers or even VNA's and the like which really just grab you from the get-go with their covers.

bit odd.jpg - 2780x2200, 923.09K

As if his actions are anyone else's fault.
Why are his images not blocked?
Why are his posts not caught by spam filters ("this post looks like spam, edit it and try again")?
Why is he not permabanned on every IP address he uses?
Don't get me wrong, the baiter should be banned and get all the same treatment above, too, but it's fucking dumb that good threads have to die because of a couple autistic faggots bickering with each other. Mods just aren't doing their jobs.

Only partly. A lot of the time it is presented as if it is a surprise to the audience, which is where the main issues lies. Even when it is a surprise for the characters that itself often has an aspect of it also being a reveal to the audience.

That's funny because nobody else can.

Unearthly Child wasn't novelized till recently because The Daleks novelization ignored it and presented itself as Ian and Barbara's first meeting with the Doctor. So imagine the first ep of Unearthly Child leads directly into The Daleks instead of the caveman stuff.

Rename Dalek serials so they do not mention Daleks.

The Evil of the Daleks = The Human Factor

The shitty visual effects are charming. the real problem with old DW is the padding. Understandable when sometimes the episode just had to be out by the end of the week, and a four part story became a six part story, for reasons of practicality.

What are some of the worst covers? For me it's

when it's just production photography

the 6th Doctor novelizations where they couldn't use C. Baker's likeness on any of them for some reason

the BBC EDAs and PDAs when they'd go overboard with Circular Object In The Center

I really hate how we're trapped in minimalist photoshop land now, because no one wants to just hire a painter to make something eye-catching and evocative.
It doesn't even have to be the best painting. It just has to capture the imagination.

What are some good Doctor Who novel covers?

Pretty sure Hitler did all that

The most generic stock images. When it is a line of books and all the covers look indistinguishable, though not even in what could be a classy way trying to evoke old books that would grace the shelves of some library in a country estate.

The Stolen Earth

VNAs in general are so good. Almost every one of them makes you want to check it out(then half of the books are kind of shit)
I'm also quite a big fan of The English Way of Death, and The Well Mannered War.

then half of the books are kind of shit

That's a very kind rounding up

It's because Terry Nation was a hack

I'm fond of this one.

head games.jpg - 956x1571, 537.94K

The production photography is the worst for me, the other two can have some level of skill put into them even if I do agree about a lot of 'CENTER FOCUS'
I get a lot of enjoyment out of most Missing Adventures covers in terms of how the format they use for it makes for some neat takes.

Metaltron

Other countries would use the 4th Doc on covers for books that featured other Doctors, since he was the most popular one.

Interesting art. Are there any more like that?

Here's another for The Web Planet.

This one's the Japanese cover for the Auton Invasion, the novelization of Spearhead from Space.

I haven't read through a lot of it really. I'd like to buy a whole fucking set because I hate reading fucking pdf's off of a screen but it comes to the point where there's so much content that I rather space out my enjoyment of it all rather than try to go through it in an instant and get burnt out.

Ncuti gets to wake up next to Varada and kiss her

IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME, NOT HIM

rare footage of the 11th Doctor fucking the16th doctor

In fairness, almost every doctor who companion has had straight up sex scenes in other projects.

watching for the first time

Doctor literally just abandons susan on a ruined, dalek raped earth just because she had a crush on a guy she knew for a handful of days at best

haha what the fuck? really?

Things were different (better) then

did they have to drop Doctor Who from the front cover because the novels got edgier and more vulgar

16th?

Not heard the rumours?

Get this: Doctor Poo

15 regenerates into 16

16 is Billie Piper, a stunt-cast designed to get interest in the show again.

Someone needs to photoshop a dildo into that picture.

I forgot how awful wilderness sontarans looked

Not to mention she'll outlive him one day and will look exactly the same while he gets old and gray.

Good that last for like 5 years then they are 30 and old as it gets

No I think it was more related to them finally losing the rights to the name in general so they focused things on Benny with some sly stuff to involve the Doctor in a way to not get fucking sued.

The Doctor knew it was important for the Web of Time that Susan pair off with the future Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton

I think they kind of lost the license at a certain point. The last few are the "New Adventures" starring Bernice Summerfield.

Why didn't he just look after her until long into her 30s and make her watch her grandfather die as a stunted womanchild? That's the morally right thing to do.

my grandma married my granddad within weeks. marriage was just something you had to do in order to get sex. Susan fancying a random bloke is basically the 1960s equivalent of getting fingered.

Vicki > Susan

Anon, slags have existed in every society in history.

Theyre not from the 60s though. They're not even human.

Even before it became the Bernice Summerfield (New) Adventures they had already dropped the DW logo from the covers. See Lungbarrow for example.

From Doctor Who to Doctor What The Fuck

of course, but even censorship aside, i think people generally just held themselves to a higher standard.
i COULD eat an entire packet of biscuits right now, and i plan on doing so. i don't think i'll even feel any shame. god knows what zoomers are like.

I think that was some kind of transition period where they were allowed to release the books already written, but weren't allowed to use the logo.

The leaks say that she isn't THOUGH.

she fancies a human, they're about the same shape, Dr Who is fine with it and gives a nice little speech. i think we can assume that's OK and not like a human fucking a dog or something.

Susan is just a horny teenager with hormones coursing through her veins. normal sex to 15-year-olds is what chemsex is to us.

I'm surprised the BBC even approved the Virgin license to begin with, considering how violent, gross and un-Doctor Who like they could be.
Then again, they may not have cared by that point.

so is it cancelled or not cancelled?

Then again, they may not have cared by that point.

It's that.

let me introduce you to another franchise of 90s slop called 'Star Wars'...

They wouldn't care again until the movie made the franchise slightly more relevant again and the following BBC Books novels toned it down considerably.

Vicki > Susan

Given that the Daleks novelization rewrote things to skip the caveman stuff, what was stopping them from turning Vicki into Susan? The next 2 novelizations had Vicki in them, when they could've easily made her Susan. Colony in Space was even later rewritten to have 3 meet Jo for the 1st time, ignoring the stories before it

They will never use the term cancelled. Even when it stopped in 1989 it was only 'hiatus', which is just a euphemism for cancelled. As for the actual question, for all intents and purposes the show is cancelled. S3 is not going ahead, as pre-production would had to have started by now. At best* what the show may get is some specials every few years, but at that point it is on/off hiatus and clearly a downgrade from having 13 plus a Christmas special that Nu used to get - * from a certain point of view, the actual best thing is for the show to just end as a mercy kill.

Not officially yet, but all the signs are pointing that way

Was Robot Wars officially cancelled or just on hiatus?

Cancelled.

the cancelled/hiatu part covered my confusion. thanks.

Ncuti will dissipate into nothing but regeneration energy and the TARDIS will vanish. The show will be shelved for 20 years before some zoomer working for the BBC pitches a reboot of NuWho because it defined his childhood.

zoomer

doctor who defining his childhood

lmao zoomers don't watch this shit

soul

Susan is just a horny teenager

Is she though? Or does she just look like one?

is that the little puppet god fella from Colony in Space? hated that cunt.

she's actually a centuries-old alien!

ah, the weeaboo defence.

When NuWho started in 2005, zoomers were 5-8 years old and basically prime age for Doctor Who. The kid who drew the Abzorbaloff was 9 in 2006 and that makes him literally a zoomer, as one solid example.

Every new ‘leak’ about this show sounds like a shitpost. Having said that, it’ll probably be true.

Zoomers were born after 2000.

Cancelled - both times. They are not really comparable shows in either nature or how the BBC approach them. For one, it is not actually a BBC owned property, and the original run switched broadcasting from BBC to Channel 5. Secondly, Robot Wars is not a narrative show. And linking to both points, the 2010s revival itself was initially treated as a new show, and only shifted to treating itself as a continuation after the first series.

How's the new season compared to the last one?

NEW LEAK: Doctor Who Season 2 Finale Will Act As a Definitive End To The Show

Recently, the Doctor Who Leak chats on GB and Discord have been discussing a Twitter account, @ mrmaclaine, which appears to have insider information. This account claims that the Season 2 finale, The Reality War, will serve as a definitive end to the series following the BBC’s decision not to continue it after Disney reportedly pulled out of their major deal.

Saturday's episode has a full-stop ending to the series and the character, and they are bafflingly leaving it as a 'surprise'. Which I feel there are moral issues with considering it's a show that has thousands of autistic and SEND fans who might not be able to process the shock"

They struck the main set in November as a result of the cancellation and rebuilt a fragment of it for the remount in Feb. Won't be up now. Some of it was literally trashed!

"It's a perfect storm of it becoming too expensive, ratings falling, merchandise dropping off"

"I don't think the leaks were part of a whisper campaign, I believe fairly certainly that they were splurged out of spite from one of the long-time crew members laid off last autumn"

"All that overseas money is long gone - the Disney deal essentially took it away and presented it upfront as a cash advance on the budget. New-series-specific merchandise is almost non-existent by this point, and home video sales aren't fantastic."

"I think a lot of it is about saving face and muddying the waters of blame, as there is an element of industry embarrassment now. Regardless Series 3 was half written and in pre-production long before the axe fell or the remount, in the same way Season 27 was in 1989"

"No, it's usually a tease into the Christmas show or next series. This I beliefairly certainly that they were splurged out of spite from one of the long-time crew members laid off last autumn"

Have we even seen female Sycorax?

Slight improvement.

"No, it's usually a tease into the Christmas show or next series. This I believe is a proper 'happily ever after' ending"

"I don't mean a plot twist, I mean Saturday's is the actual last ever episode and ends with a distinct "the end" conclusion - they reshot material earlier this year. Word is BBC Studios are looking to liquidate the format rights and back catalogue to a third party"

bullshit

Colloquial use of the term =/= what some retards at an institute say the term is.

Why oh why couldn't it have been Mary Tamm going braless on that cold moor

While I can believe that RTD's ego is big enough that he would want to write an ending for Doctor Who, i can believe the BBC would just outright end the show instead of leaving a door open for the future

If you asked Oxford English Dictionary what "goon" means they say a mobster's henchman.

it's not going to say 'a Something Awful poster' either. but i guarantee both these usages will be in the Corpus they use, and if they become popular enough, they enter the OED.
that's just how it works. even if a word is used completely incorrectly, a lot of words you use today were formed this way. sorry anon. learn Spanish or Lojban or something.

There is no way to kill this show. Even if every universe simultaneously ended you could just say a new universe was born from a rift in the void.

i'd say some Byker Grove type "and then Doctor Who became a TV show :)" thing, because how the fuck do you come back from that... but they actually just did that.

RTD needs to be stopped.

The best classic Dalek stories weren't even written by Nation.

An absolute shame Power and Evil of the Daleks are lost.

I don't think so, because I don't think RTD would have ever let Ncuti and Millie be husband and wife. Ncuti is 32 and Millie would have been what, 19? That's way too problematic and is something RTD would want to avoid, especially since some people already call out the age gap with the multi-thousand year old Time Lord having romance with humans.

Mrs Flood is suddenly Bel's neighbor instead of Ruby's

Did he miss the part where Belinda mentions Ruby during the cat scene? She's just on the other side of Mrs Flood's house.

You should go back to your weak shitposting about how Awkwafina was totally gonna show up. At least that was easy to filter out.

i dunno how HawceyeJ came to this conclusion. it's not like Millie Gibson left the series.

Belinda mentions Ruby during the cat scene

That never happened.

Ncuti is 32 and Millie would have been what, 19?

That's way too problematic and is something RTD would want to avoid

RTD seems to just follow the trends on what his morals are, creatively. he'd be aghast at his own writing in Queer as Folk now: yes the characters are 'bad people', but he portrayed underage sex sexily (at a time when the gay age of consent was 18, too, which i'm assuming he opposed).

in the real world, adults can just fuck each other and even get married. at some point it might be groundbreaking and progressive to portray this. what about the real-life 18-year-olds who fancy 32-year-olds? are they...wrong?

Belinda calls it 'the TARDIS' despite supposedly having never seen one before. she is Susan and she made up the name 'TARDIS' from the initials.

The Doctor, The Rani, and (probably if The Rani is included) The Master all come from being earlier being that was The Timeless Child.

it's because Steven Moffat said in an interview that Dr Who is bisexual. making him the first television character to be heterosexual, asexual, bisexual, and now homosexual.

BELINDA: And what's that thing?

(She has spotted the Tardis.)

What?

i said this as a joke but it wouldn't surprise me at this point. Time Lords don't give birth, they aren't loomed: they procreate through bigeneration. ultimately they all stem from the Timeless Child, Tecteun was just some other immortal trying to create/preserve the Gallifreyan species.

any on-screen relationships are a form of autosexual incest.

pro-israel episode

Jesus the BBC are morally bankrupt

b-but the six gorillian Jews! Your genocide is irrelevant we gotta sing at Eurovision baby!

You get given free reign over an entire season of Doctor Who that has to be the finale for the show. You can have a new Doctor. You cannot retcon anything like Timeless Child or Bigeneration. What do you do?

It's just from the perspective of someone like RTD it's not something he would do now. Especially since with Poppy being a thing it would imply that a 30 year old Ncuti would have married and done the nasty with an under 18 Millie. I just can't see it being a thing he'd do.

This is it

This.
Every Time Lord in history has really just been the Timeless Child bigenerating over and over, like cosmic mitosis. The Doctor is the Master is the Rani is Rassilon is Rodan is Borusa is Drax is Rassilon is Omega.
This'd also have the benefit of being just like The Egg (a short story from the redditor who brought you The Martian), which means RTD can spin it into being a trans metaphor all along. Truly, bravo.

Why did they stop bigenerating then?

The Robot Revolution, 38:22 in.

I saw that box in space! Is that your... TARDIS?

Why did she say that name?

population control.

This is chudworld though, so older male relationships would be commonplace.

Bi-regeneration is a survival mechanism in case the Time Lords are near extinction. It never happened beofre because the Time Lords were technically saved after Day of the Doctor.

How would their biology know?

Assuming you can bi-regenerate into a man and a woman what would happen if they had sex?

In chudworld there would be no wheelchair users because they'd all be fakers trying to grift like Conrad said before.

Unironically given he's mined everything else how long until RTD resurrects Adric?

It agrees with my politics so it's great

These people are genuinely as bad as the people they are complaining about

They're are an allegory for nazis, but that isn't the main point of The Daleks serial. The whole point is that pacificism doen't work in the face of an existential threat. The Thals are an allegory for the hippy generation, refusing to fight even though it will bring about their ultimate destruction. In the end, it's the generation who lived through, and even fought in WW2 who motivates them to fight for the right to exist. Ian, Barbara (and the some extent, The Doctor) know that The Daleks must be fought because they've already experienced their own Daleks (the nazis).

If I cannot retcon then I would just ignore The Timeless Child and Bigeneration and all the other shit. It will be 26 25-minute episodes subdivided into 2 2-part serials, 4 4-part serials, and 1 6-part serial - order to be determined. The actor for the Doctor is a middle-aged to elderly white British male actor, with companions being a straight white British guy in his 20s-to-30sand and attractive female (either playing a Human from a different time period or humanoid alien) that is 18-25. The entire thing will be filmed as a stage play in the style of the First Doctor era. The music will be that ambient type music the Third Doctor era had. Guest cast will come from one of three categories: simply be performers from TV shows I like, actresses I find attractive, and stage actors. Target audience: me.

It'd be no different from two non-bigenerated incarnations of the same Time Lord fucking only I guess the future one would remember being fucked first time round so it would be extra sweet for them.

these people probably sit and wonder every day why kamala lost

I will never read "cishet" as "cis-het", I always read it as cishit in an Irish accent.

Cell regeneration exists in numerous species. For example, you can lose 75% of your liver and it'll regrow back to full size. Crabs regrow limbs.

Because that's totally the same as building a new body with a new personality

I'm just saying there's biological examples of cell regeneration.
Also, neurological changes.

Well, who even cares about the quality of writing and competency of execution in a piece of art/entertainment/media when all you need is for the political idea behind it to be morally superior?

Nucti's first season starts kind of shitty through the Beatles episode but the middle is pretty good

How does that change the fact they want to exterminate them? The French were the British's sworn enemy for 1,000 years but at no point did they want to exterminate them.
Extermination of a race being an ideological goal is unique to the daleks. Even the Sontarons never state they want to exterminate the Rutans.

Ah yes, the middle where he barely appears at all

They're really determined to run this meme into the ground, huh?
It's like they think it will save them from cancellation.

Nah, I think the most likely scenario is a fade to black regeneration. If they’d done this 8 years ago the show would be in a much better state. If you listen to RTD’s tone in recent interviews, he basically knows it’s over.

Context? There's no implication the Daleks started the war for "hateful" reasons. It's simply a war that has been going on forever.

everything that's trying to be a daft bit of comic relief at best, an astroturfed/toyetic forced meme at worse, i forget about within a week anyway.

remember the lil 'polish! polish!' robot? is that a toy you can buy? are kids fans of it? is it doing the rounds on message boards?

I wouldn’t mind as much if he was actually politically astute, but he isn’t. Wasn’t it said that Harriet Jones got 3/4 consecutive terms (4-5 years a term in the UK) in S1 and then she was ousted for being a tired old woman like two years later? He also thought Obama was going to save the world economy.

Why the war started is irrelevant, the point is 20 years after WW2 ended Terry Nation wrote a villain who's outline was

- disagreements
- use weapons in battle
the Thals vs the Dals:

in essence. Ask the soldiers who signed up to "shoot ragheads"

it's not even the cutest one-off creature this series.
it's not even the best song of the Gatwa era.

fuck this stupid thing.

Why have they never done a Cyberman story about two different factions arguing about some trivial bullshit and destroying themselves over it?

If the show's really ending, then that means Doctor Who on TV will end with the UNIT spin-off rather than the main show proper.

i get that social media is someone's job now, but the YouTube compilations are all shit like

30 minutes of the Doctor and Belinda being ICONIC!

why? BBC, you are funded by the licence fee and some commercial/overseas sales. it'll all be okay.

He also thought Obama was going to save the world economy.

tfw you have a seizure live on air, start hallucinating that you're some weird little white guy, and then suddenly you've forgotten your magic plan to save the economy

From that Twitter account:

Maybe ask 'if Doctor Who had a last ever episode, would it be exciting? What would you like to happen in it?'

Is it really over? (I’d choose a final special episode with a decent budget, Robert Shearman as writer and Eccleston)

30 minutes of Belinda giving edging handjob to BWC.

you're right, they absolutely haven't. in fact, i don't even know what a Darlic or a Cybermon is. my bad.

I always took the Daleks in The Daleks as basically having gone insane and in denial about their own body horror. They have this huge fear that the Thals must be mutated when they themselves are the ones. To jump onto the earlier discussion of anons, we can say in-universe that the Daleks stance of exterminating everything was rooted as far back as when First met them then but if look at it from the out of universe production the emphasis on the Daleks being characterised by extermination occurs in Genesis and reinforced in Nu. To sort of echo and answer the very beginning anon , the Daleks probably started crudely out as Nazi comparisons in the most basic sense (the Daleks seems more about nuclear war and commentary on pacifism as opposed to exploration of Nazism), then the show decides to more explicitly lean into that in their backstory in Genesis, and in general the show never really does and probably cannot do a substantive exploration of fascism with the Daleks since the Daleks are to rudimental in their nature as villains. I doubt this would be interesting, but I do not see how you can really do a Dalek story that explores fascist economics or how the Daleks use propaganda on themselves.

would single out an episode

Not with Ten-inch.

new people like a new thing in a show i like and they're about to see the other stuff i like

this angers me for some reason

fuck this stupid thing.

dugga doo

Not 73 Yards!

Robert Shearman already wrote an (unofficial) ending to Doctor Who

I think if anything, what is interesting about the Nazis is how they were just normal people, and it didn't take much to drive them to do what they did.
The Daleks are mutants forged in a thousand years of war. That's a terrible allegory for Nazis. No nuance at all. Just dumb.

the show never really does and probably cannot do a substantive exploration of fascism with the Daleks since the Daleks are to rudimental in their nature as villains. I doubt this would be interesting, but I do not see how you can really do a Dalek story that explores fascist economics or how the Daleks use propaganda on themselves.

Has any episode ever depicted a villain faction as being anything but 100% unified? There is never any mention of propaganda or dissent amongst any species, they all agree with whatever is happening completely.

Closest thing is the dalek civil war, but even then there were no traitors in either faction.

Does Rusty from Capaldi's run count?

Weimar was degenerate as fuck and the economy shit itself. Nazis didn't just happen for no reason.

I mean on a wider scale.
There's never been any sort of dalek resistance that opposed expansionism. Despite the fact they have a parliament so the idea of opposing views must exist even if it's just a rubber stamp parliament.

Good post.

I didn't say it happened for no reason. I said they weren't literal monsters driving around in tiny tanks, incapable of all emotions but hatred.

You could perhaps say The Evil of the Daleks with the Daleks that have the Human Factor.

I feel like it's not that uncommon that there's at least one "good one".

Idea: dalek reformists who want to remove the gun from their casing and change it for scientific instruments pushing for a pax daleka golden age

You cannot retcon anything like Timeless Child or Bigeneration

As-is or can I mess with them a bit?>The whole point is that pacificism doen't work in the face of an existential threat.
If only New Who understood that.

does space America employ Dalek scientists?

It's crazy how Steven Moffat was the hot shit in the 2010s and had multiple shows spinning at once and now he's just disappeared.

Even more shocking that BOOM was great but Joy To The World was shit.

i want to like fun. i USED to like fun.

Maybe he was right, but the ships crash caused the extinction of the dinosaurs which is a huge part of earth's timeline, so he was gonna die anyway, or else it would've fucked up the timeline.

If only New Who understood that.

That's the irony of it. The second ever story and the moral was "violence is good actually".

He did that show about the guy getting cancelled

Frontier in Space? maybe it's not the type of civil war you're looking for, but the Draconians aren't just monsters, it's space politics with the Master and the Daleks.

to please Nazi allegory anon, it's a bit like Chamberlain's policy of appeasement, if you think about it.

He's doing a Jekyll and Hyde film with Ellen Degeneres.

Was he cancelled for putting his weird femdom madonna complex fetish into an unrelated show?

No one remember's Moffat's "Jekyll" these days.

The Doctor, The Rani, and (probably if The Rani is included) The Master all come from being earlier being that was The Timeless Child.

Fun Fact: Delgado's final story would've had him sacrificing himself to save the Doctor and reveal that him and the Doc were originally one being, having split off into two long ago.

Coupling guy does Doctor Who, gets bored, his Sherlock passion project flops, back to random TV miniseries.
Queer as Folk guy does Doctor Who, gets bored, his Torchwood passion project flops, back to random TV miniseries.

never have dreams.

At this point with the Daleks have becoming so characterised by wanting to exterminate everything, an interesting idea for a civil war could be a faction that is anti-exterminating everything yet not for morality reason. The faction basically takes the stance that if Daleks as the superior beings then they need inferior beings to lord over. For all the claims of Daleks not really having emotions they do seem to have pride.

Moffat is a story autist. He's not a workhorse TV scriptmaker that can force himself to create even he's not in the mood, he only makes stuff when he feels like it. Which means that once he's out of his prime and milks all his ideas, there's not much else to go.

beings of pure hatred

seething inside their cases

reject anyone who's different

never blame themselves

OK Anon, get this:
Dalek. Incels.

I remember he was supposed to be The Doctors brother.

Dalek. Incels.

They ain't ever getting any so you're right.

rtd, no!

Frontier in Space and Planet of the Daleks were such disappointing serials to me. Frontier feels unresolved in itself and Planet does not meaningfully follow it. I would have much preferred an extended Frontier that ate the episodes of Planet, with Frontier itself doing something about the Daleks when it is revealed they are the ones behind everything.

Tbf there’s only so many nursery rhymes you can turn into Doctor Who monsters. That’s why his last big bads were an ambulance and a briefcase.

he's a producer on a show called Douglas Is Cancelled' about a man who says something controversial. I didn't watch

the way the mainstream treats incels is looking a lot more Dalek-like

Why were there no Cyberman episodes with the Third Doctor?

Slaver faction vs extermation faction, would be based.
The Slaver faction could be motivated by desire for financial profits from extracting resources and the extermination faction could be the "pure" daleks.

There was one in Carnival of Monsters

I remember he was supposed to be The Doctors brother

In the scrapped 90s reboot. But Old Who would've basically used bi-generation to explain what the Master was.

Idk lol

...Are there female Daleks?

Before someone else makes one, we've already got a new thread here

I would guess a mixture of having done that many Cybermen serials in the 2nd Doctor era and an attempt to create new villains. The Daleks got brought back as the Daleks were just more popular than Cybermen. Each of the Dalek stories in Third Doctor also do not involve UNIT - one in the future, and two off Earth. A Cyberman story in Third, given he is on Earth for the most part, probably just becomes The Invasion again.

I retcon the timeless child, bigeneration, and everything related to nu-who in secret. Something-something related to The Doctor is corrupting time itself and is threatening to unravel it, and he has no other choice but to reboot everything, including his own timeline. Then I quit and join ITV.

Are you sure? I remember listing to the commentary for Planet of the Spiders and Dicks mentions The Master was gonna be reveled to be The Doctors brother.

The Slaver faction should not be motivated by money. They can view the slaves as a way to extract resources, but that should be more about them just being a tool to achieve X goal of dominance. The ultimate motivation of the Slaver faction should it appeals to their sense of superiority to be the ones in charge over inferior beings. The more the Daleks conquer the more the Daleks superiority is confirmed and validated.

It all makes sense!

Then I quit and join ITV.

Oh no you don't, you fucking coward. Disney have shown us how 'a clean slate for the next writer' goes. You come back and fix this fucking mess: don't just sweep it under the rug.

I mean it is established that they can sense each other and have a vague idea how many other timelords there are

Day of the Daleks does involve UNIT

that's one hell of a bird.

I remember listing to the commentary for Planet of the Spiders and Dicks mentions The Master was gonna be reveled to be The Doctors brother.

It's both. Either he was the Doctor's Brother or he's the darkness expelled from the Doctor's being taken a form of its own.

You cannot retcon anything like Timeless Child or Bigeneration

Does never fucking mentioning it, or other stupid fucking bullshit, ever, ever EVER again count as a "retcon"?

I was meant to say not properly involves UNIT - I must have edited it out and not added it back in. UNIT is involved yes, but they are more incidental. They are not with the Doctor and Jo in the future where much of the story is.

i feel like this kind of thinking adds some weird overthinking-that-only-exists-in-writers'-minds aspect to slavery. i mean, it mite b cool.
but actual slave owners just...owned slaves, to have slave labour. maybe some got an extra kick out of the racism as hardcore white nationalists, but then they'd probably make for shitty slave owners? what, killing their slaves?
same goes for if it's all a creepy sex thing.

slave planet. slave mines. where the slave miners mine. to dig for minerals.

Then I quit and join ITV.

Stephen Mulhern IS The Doctor!

Felch my asshole, negro. Good luck trying to shove your shit back onto a cleansed Who!

they could just do that and i think a lot of people have said they're fine with it.

RTD has said he's well into this whole Timeless Child concept, he's sticking with it! maybe he was just being polite about another writer. we've had some vague 'i'm adopted. only found that out recently.' type stuff.

parallel universe audio drama series that explores it? fine. i actually like the Division. i like the Fugitive Doctor. i don't even mind having ONE seekrit memory-wiped Doctor, the War Doctor was always a cheat anyway, just give us a Season 6B Doctor. doesn't retcon anything, just fills a gap in history.

are you so retardedly up your own ass that you think the nazis are the SINGULAR, SOLE, SOLITARY faction to ever "bark orders" and want to exterminate their enemies in the history of the fucking world?
are you that tiktok brainrotted? fucking christ!

RED HOT CURRY SAUCE, ALL OVER YOUR ANUS
DELISH

Well you can't use those words and work for the BBC ever again.

Although personally, I'd like to oversee Torchwood on Starz, or the K9 series on Australia's Network 10. Surefire hits if they were rebooted.

i can't tell if he's doing a bit at this point, but it's funny as hell to me. yeah there are parallels to the Nazis, of course there are.

but this guy, when he thinks of the Nazis, what comes to his child-like mind?

the bark orders

Just more trying to approach how you do something with the Daleks that is a civil war beyond just something like 'fuck Davros' vs 'daddy Davros', or 'you are slightly genetically different you must be destroyed'. You look at the Daleks in what they have largely been simplified into and their main characteristic is their desire to commit genocide. To me the obvious thing is to address/amend is that, but not without making the Daleks somehow moral. When I think of the Daleks there is a certain ego to them, which is both bombastic and showing their own sense of insecurity. So from that you take the Daleks, who are already insane if you go with the stance they are utterly convinced they are superior and they should kill all other life that is inferior, and narrow down on the ego aspect. Making them slavers is just taking their already seeming narcistic sadism, but just in a different direction.

Put your self in the mind of a British writer 20 years after WW2.

To not understand how all consuming the zeitgeist of the time was you'd either have to be American or a zoomer.

They are non binary.

I expect if you are thousands of years old you get time to try out all sorts of weird sex shit.
