CRTchads, get a load of this bozo.

I literally only watch movies on airplane headrests at this point.

I do display settings - multiple displays - connect to a wireless display

CRT

ok gramps

To be perfectly honest, i use a 36 inch smart tv as my 2nd computer monitor. I sit approximately 18 inches from this tv, which is about a foot above my eyeline

I put the file on my phone and stream it through vlc app
Idk why but films don't seem to work when I use a usb

36 inch smart tv

they don't even make those anymore

That's LITERALLY the USB stick I have. I LITERALLY used it today to do exactly that.

I have my tv hooked up to the computer, I literally just drag the media player over to the tv then lay down in the couch

I just use the Plex app on my smart TV

I plug the USB into my PS3 instead

i use plex, nigger

I just stream from a mini pc, also for streaming live sports

My gf watched me plugg my phone into my USB drive and she said "what are you doing?" I replied this is how we're gonna be watching movies from this point forward. "You don't have a streaming service" I like to save my money for important expenditures like our dinner date tomorrow. "Oh wow anon, I can respect that" literally got laid while we watched sixteen candles.

I also use plex but I've been thinking of switching to jellyfin cause they fucking REMOVED WATCH TOGETHER

Fucking bastards.

I have a Chromecast.

sad

I use jellyfin like a White man should

not having a ugoos am6b+ w/coreelec and plex4kodi backend to take full advantage of FEL/ Dolby layer 7 on your remux files

Not pairing it with a dedicated projector instead of prole Walmart smart TV

Is this how the poors live?

Based home server autists

Are you American? Why is there such a gap at the bottom of your front doors? I've seen that in movies and always wondered why.

Is this how the poors live?

your screen is next to your front door....
you are poor

Your 2500 dollar screen and 3000 dollar projector are by your front door and not in moms basement

Show home theater setup

It's to let the underwear gnomes in/out

2500 dollar screen and 3000 dollar projector

you use a shitty chinkbox
your front door is next to your screen
you're poor.

That's not your home theater setup anon

You're poorer apparently

Na they live in HomeAway motels

From rich family fuck poor girls like it's Zach and Cody

How does jellyfin compare to plex? I just figured out how to use radarr/sonar to organize my collection and I setup plex locally but I would like to either get the lifetime license so my dad can stream from my server or just setup jellyfin instead. Trying to convince him to just drop cable. I have over 3500 movies and every television series worth watching.

Jellyfin just werks and its free, you can even use it on tv without native app just from the browser.

jellyfin is to plex what linux is to windows

preferred only by incels

Jellyfin is free and open source
Plex isn't open source and will be hit by the enshitification. There's already a free tier vs paid tier, but how long will it be before plex puts ads in the free tier, removes more features from free tier, or even gets rid of the free tier entirely?

I watch torrents live on my TV via chinkbox

How does jellyfin compare to plex?

Not as robust because it is newer but totally free and works fine. I use it all the time for all my kinos.

Do modern TVs now have firmware that's robust enough to play any pirated media from a USB stick just from plugging it in?

I'm old enough to remember the chance of your TV successfully reading and playing an .mkv with subs was basically zero. Times when you had to re-encode everything to mp4 with a specific codec and if you messed up any aspect it would shit the bed and fail to read. I dreamed of a time when TVs had the equivalent of VLC baked in. Are we actually at that stage now?

maybe read the thread stupid boomer

Do modern TVs now have firmware that's robust enough to play any pirated media from a USB stick just from plugging it in?

Pretty much yeah but the TV apps don't run things like Kodi, VLC, mpv, etc.

I'm old enough to remember the chance of your TV successfully reading and playing an .mkv with subs was basically zero.

I have a 2018 samsung 4K TV that runs x265 4K mkv files just fine. It should be even better now.

Shut up, nerd. I'm not using your gay meme software

the TV apps don't run things like Kodi, VLC, mpv, etc

WTF are you talking about, Android TVs support all this shit for years

Do you mostly run passive stuff on it? (ie, youtube) I used to use an old computer desk from the 1980s which had a raised tier to set the monitor on. Only now I had a 21" iMac on it, so the display was even higher up. I think my face was about 2" from the screen and I found that angle a little bothersome.

WTF are you talking about, Android TVs support all this shit for years

Yeah but most TVs don't run Android TV and the ones that do have shitty CPUs. It's better to buy an external Android box and get the best quality screen.

An HDMI cable runs from my Nvidia Shield TV Pro (unseen!) up to my 4K projector.

A cheap device for your TV like a Chromecast or Fire Stick or Steam Link can be set up to stream media, such as pirated kino, from a PC in your home. You don't need a laptop or to plug in/unplug anything

stay mad and don't lose that hdmi cable you need to plug to your laptop every time you want to watch a new mcu movie

I take it this runs over the local network?

Do you know of a wired equivalent i.e something I can plug into the USB or HDMI port on my Gran's TV (she doesn't have internet) which I can then plug a standard USB stick into which will then play any video file in her TV?

(so I can provide my gran with movies and TV shows I pirate for her)

projector

he fell for it lololololol

Do you know of a wired equivalent i.e something I can plug into the USB or HDMI port on my Gran's TV (she doesn't have internet) which I can then plug a standard USB stick into which will then play any video file in her TV?

This will do it.

I prefer it to my OLED TVs and my QD-OLED monitors.

OLED

he keeps falling for it lololololol

Jellyfin is free and open source

Open Source, you say? How does their code look? Does it seem okay? Any memory leaks? Did you contribute any improvements? Which ones? What did you do? Did you make my TV work faster? Is my TV faster now?

yourn.jpg - 259x194, 9.95K

I have a mini PC connected through HDMI.

No apps, just web browser

So no ads

No app updates

No USB dongle being outdated so no more support

vpn so I can watch foreign stuff

Digital purchases

Torrents

Blu-ray drive

Ez.

Nice, thanks.

I have a projector but I don't use Plex because I'm not a gay.

jellychads

Why is there such a gap at the bottom of your front doors?

Imagine not having a footstep window.
How do Europoors have time to reload?

simplelife.gif - 800x600, 332.04K

Where do you think OP got this picture from?

can you install coreelec on those walmart boxes yet? they'd be a great cheap option.

not staring at the flight route

casual

I watch movies on my phone

Idk why but films don't seem to work when I use a usb

It's the codecs, your TV must be really old. My plasma don't recognize x265 movies

Yes i do that.
Only stuck up Jews and Beta Asians care about this shit.
you’re one or the other.
guarantee that.
no i don’t care.
i’m not an autistic faggot
:)
No not coming back to this thread.
Gonna go watch Scarface

I just watch my DVDs or video cassettes but what's the problem with using a usb

this shit reads like a thinly veiled shill thread.
youtube comment:

im too scared to invest

>>oh i understand you but i found a professional investor to help me

>>please post his information

>>>absolute, his name is mr. soup nazi, [email protected]

>>>>thank you! god bless

Nah. Who needs coreelec anyway?

Relax sperg

Using a USB stick is virgin tier

None of the features are behind a paywall with jellyfin, but it's not as polished as Plex.

Based and sweet grandanon

Plex

No longer needed.

No clue what any of that is.

Use Dune you retards

no

i watch DVDs on my computer

I'm moving towards it now after the fifth consecutive month of Plex being a broken piece of shit that won't update libraries

Your mother's anus

Anon, the smart people are dumping Plex for Jellyfin so we never have to deal with their shit again.

Its no different than plugging in any streaming device.

I didn't even know you could plug a USB into a tv. What happens? Do you navigate the file system with your fucking TV remote? I'm perplexed right now but convinced I need to try it.

I am 100% uninterested in trying jellyfin specifically because of how it's being relentlessly astroturfed on here. I'd rather do the USB/laptop display extending thing, or not watch anything at all

With my TV, you click on the Medialäsare tab, then Video and then you navigate whatever video files you have on the stick. You can both use subtitles added into the file and .srt-files you may have downloaded yourself.

I didn't even know you could plug a USB into a tv. What happens? Do you navigate the file system with your fucking TV remote?

yes, if your TV has video file support and a media player built in

because of how it's being relentlessly astroturfed on here.

Plex was discussed here all the time until Plex fucked their userbase.

for use only on your local network they are on par with each other and it's not worth losing any sleep over. jellyfin allows hardware accelerated transcoding for free whereas plex charges money for that feature in their paypigpass. the big difference between plex and jellyfin is if you want to access the server remotely. plex makes it easier for you to do this somewhat securely through their infrastructure but with jellyfin to access it remotely and securely you'll need to either setup a VPN connection so you can remotely access your network and therefore access your jellyfin server, or you will need to expose the jellyfin server to the internet and setup a reverse proxy etc.

jellyfin allows hardware accelerated transcoding for free

which is something nobody needs to do anyway

Just bought a dual 64gb dual USB 3.1 and C so i can both transfer kino to my TV and move files to my phone.

My Samsung TV has done a good job reading movie files although it started lagging on two mkv files just recently. It struggles with anime subtitles. When there a translated sign in the scene it will just read "Nurses office" while the characters talk.
