Anon Babble

Queen of Anon Babble

How many Anon Babbleposters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

One to announce he's going to do it, another to offer to do it instead, a third to actually do it, and a fourth to complain he did it too early.

This pisses me off more than it should.

I think by the end of the year I should have seen enough films to have a decent, shareable letterboxd page.

"I adore Frank Capra. He was and still is, in my opinion, the greatest filmmaker that ever lived.

Capra created a feeling of belief in a free country and that there is goodness in bad people; that everyone reaches a limit where they would stop and be sane again because what they really wanted was to have compassion for other people and live in a spirit of friendliness and brotherhood.

I don’t think his films were sentimental or romantic; they were expressions of a practical philosophy. Like him I believe that there cannot be artists who find no room for elemental human behavior and passion.

Idealism is not sentimental; it validates a hope for the future. Capra gave me hope and in turn I wish to extend a sense of hope to my audiences. By affording the spectators a glimpse into ideas that confuse, rock, and disturb them, I offer the mind food for thought.

An aesthetic experience that leaves the spectator vacant is no form of art. At the same time I don’t emulate Capra. The characters in my films display a lack of comfort and find themselves in petty and embarrassing situations, but this is only so because they haven’t yet come to grips with their emotional natures.

I am a tough and deeply cynical person. Capra didn’t care about his cynicism. I wish I could be as independent as him to really express the beautiful ideas he could without feeling perhaps that these ideas were not truthful.

If I had the capacity, the means, and the temperament, I would love to make every one of Capra’s films but so far I’ve never done it."

Gonna kill myself once it starts to get hot out.

When it comes to announcing bakes, you're damned if you and damned if you don't.

How many is enough?

Why?

Tired of living on this giant rock.

4 inches.

Beguiling and beautiful, like if Hitchcock and Hans Christian Andersen collaborated. He’s done it again.

Mooooooom!!!! Petzold is trying to make a magical realist film again!

Also what the fuck is Fremaux's problem, Petzold not in competition?? And he has to resort to fucking Director's Fortnight

How about he's trans and we call him "Thierry Femmeaux"?

He wants to make other parts of the festival interesting too. That's why this year Petzol and Lapid aren't there while Martone and Saleh are. Last year the same with Guiraudie etc.

I only like labour and social realism films. The only reason cinema should exist is to address proletariat issues.

Cassavetes fucking sucks, nothing but basic middle age crises on both sides of the camera with no self awareness of the fact. Technically loose to cover up a lack of talent.

LOOK AT MY WIFE! LOOK AT MY UNTALENTED WIFE!!!!!

Its not about the number but the breadth and relevance of the films. I've only seen about 1000 but I basically never watched films or TV before I got into classics and arthouse.

Zoomers will never understand Cassavetes because they are too scared and too broke to drink.

zoomer idiot here, yes I am afraid of becoming an alcoholic since I hate my father for being one

Zoomers (boomer) here; yes I love drinking every time I'm out and used to drink 5 days a week back in High School

drinking is literally a poor person's hobby

If you have to be drunk to get a filmmaker than that is a worthless filmmaker.

desu I've only seen A Woman Under the Influence and Chinese Bookie. I thought both film were fine, but just kinda overrated. I guess it all comes down to taste, and the type of gritty realism of Cassavetes just isn't my thing. That's it.

It also doesn't help that every Cassavetes fan is always the most unbearable pretentious prick.

Anyways, if you haven't already, you faggots should watch The Traveling Players.

Not being drunk, remembering being drunk. Drinking and Cassavetes are microcosms of the totality of human soul. Periods of apathy interrupted by anger, hurt, violence, tenderness, compassion, indifference.

If you're not drinking, then what the fuck are you doing!??

Are you one of those "if you haven't drank you haven't really lived" fags?

NTA, but not having gotten drunk or high at least once in your life is straight up trolling. It's kinda like not having had sex ever; you can cope all you want, but that's still a massive L for 99% of humans now alive.

99% of humans now alive can suck my dick. You're not Bukowski, you're not deep, you're not le suffering artist, you're just a bunch of retarded drunk normies.

i've mentioned that exactly once and you remembered it. it's not like being british or liking westerns, which i mention all the time.

Cinéma vérité is the only authentic film genre. All other films are fabricated scenarios taped together.

But you didn not type cinema verite, you copied it from wikipedia. Your post is not authentic.

So what? I got a great memory. It's more like you're self important and grandiose. I don't care about you, at all. What's more, sometimes I defend you when you're getting injustly hated on, but you still always manage to be a dick in the weirdest ways

That's right. I don't know how to e''e'e'e'e'e'e with a nordic layout.

Sarah Gadon is a Cassavetes fan

torontolife.com/city/sarah-gadon-the-list/

I fell in love with John Cassavetes’ work when I saw the 1968 drama Faces in a film class a few years ago. I was excited to find this Criterion Collection set on Blu-Ray. There’s something satisfyingly tactile about physically owning a movie instead of just renting it on iTunes

And you don't need to. Just typing "cinema verite" is verite. Strange that you don't understand this.

I wonder when she watched Greg Lansky works

well thank you for defending me. i don't believe i'm self important or grandiose, i'm just opinionated and like to express my opinions in this thread. i don't even post that much, it's just tons of haters responding to me whenever i do post telling me to kill myself that i respond to making it seem like i post a lot.

Heeeyy
Looks cooler with the '

Aythenticity is not about striving to look cool, it's about being yourself.

TRUTHNUKE
And to press the point further: A filmmaker doesn't really need historical accuracy to be authentic. You could have the wackiest and most inaccurate western setting and portray an authentic psychological drama.

So Wes Anderson's flick was shown and is confirmed by reviews as mid, now why the fuck did Fremaux think it's a good idea to put it in Main Competition? At least Asteroid City was some full on meta thing that Wes Anderson hasn't really done before, The Phoenician Scheme is confirmed to be Grand Budapest 1.5. It should have been a Cannes Premiere or Out Of Competition if accepted at all to the festival.

But ideas of what constitutes cool are external, arbitrary and temporary

For me it's the Jancsó oner.

He's always in comp

In KINO veritas.

It has to stop. I could excuse AC, already explained why. This shit is clearly just total autopilot as all the reactions signify. I will not stop critiquing Thierry Fremaux for his choices, he is a hack fraud and an enemy of cinema.

There's a myriad of minute factors contributing to the feeling of authenticity but the key aspects are the most elusive - earnestness and spontaneity, looseness and freedom.

He's ok. He has an entire panel, so not only his choice. Every year he puts slop but also interesting stuff in comp like Pacifiction. Other sections need some good stuff too.

I need more nana pics

My whole identity is being cool. My only dream is to style my hair neatly combed, permanently.

Yeah it's good and Millie Perkins is cute

I've been on the fence of watching Last and First Man for a while now because some people seem to hate it and some people seem to really love it, so I decided to watch Jóhann Jóhannsson's earlier short film End of Summer to see if I liked his style or not. after finishing it, I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I've read nothing about it, but my take is that Jóhannsson went to Antarctica, shot some footage, and then composed an album based on the footage he shot there. the main problem with this, is that both the images and the music just weren't all that interesting to me. the footage is just pretty bog standard Antarctica footage but shot on 8mm, and the music just didn't grab my attention. the music did seem to take some inspiration from the footage he shot, for instance one of the songs sounds almost like the sea flowing in and out, another sounds almost like a group of penguins, another sounds like the wind, etc., so that was pretty interesting, but I just don't think his music is my thing. has anyone seen this and Last and First Men? how do they compare?

Real question... did any of y'all ever watch a porno movie inside a theatre? Recently discovered that dark world and wanted to hear some /philm/ related experiences

When did you realize that "rating" films on a numerical scale was the most retarded pretentious normie-core thing ever? I rate a film on whether I liked it or not. Simple as. Some films I LOVE, some films I like, and the rest are nothing. Any other scale of judgement for film as a medium is the reason why our theaters are filled with focus grouped corporated moving images.

Used to go to jack shacks in adult video stores, but only the booths that were private. One time Iwalked in one and started flipping through the channels, then noticed the wall to my right was glass and I could see into the booth next to me. Said “nope” and walked out.
Would always cum on the floor, never used the tissues.

i've given the culpepper cattle co 30 mins of my time and i am not impressed, especially after comparing it to broken arrow and the professionals. you have very poor taste in movies and are probably very sheltered

When I was 16

my numerical scale basically just boils down to if I like it or not, just with more options

10. GOAT

9. Amazing

8. Great

7. Good

6. Above Average

5. Average

4. Below Average

3. Bad

2. Awful

1. WOAT

Alcoholics are actually natural practitioners of intermittent fasting, which is extremely healthy. You should watch Tempest 1982 and see how "out of shape" and "feminine" Cassavetes was near the end of his life, spoiler - he wasn't

the Vatican's list is unironically better

True masculinity is druk, every boomer knows that

Yo, that's crazy. Recently discovered that a (now) closed arthouse plex in my city was actually an amoral sex joint that used to be visited by old homos, perverted women and junkies. There we're orgies going on in there. I actually think I would have liked to visit it for curiosity's sake

Kind of a letdown but I like the Blue Velvet shout

I read somewhere that Anton LaVey hated heavy metal, which I always thought was funny

Don't let this dipshit ruin Westerns for you. If my love for horror still stands after dealing with the worst fanbases in all medium, yours can too.

The Boy With Green Hair

Based.

I’d be down to try out swingers clubs or events like that, but only as a watcher/audience member, I’d be wearing a mask standing in the corner of Eyes Wide Shut, not performing.

Okay so... you rate movies numerically then. My question is why even rate a movie that's anything below your labeled "4", anything below average isn't even worth the brain power of being placed on a scale. My qualms are mostly with letterboxdism and the fact that anyone who watches a film believes that they have the ability to even remotely dissect what makes it "good" and what makes it "bad". Professional critics are one thing, but when you give a 19-year old zoomer the belief that he/she should write structured reviews and scale every fucking movie they've ever seen, it kills the very concept of 'subjective art'.

From the first day, but I still do it.

I always knew where the porno theatres in both the cities i grew up in were, one was smack downtown and the other one right next to the old bus station, i used to walk past them often, my dad once told me i wouldn't want to go in there because there were always homosexuals in there trying to suck you off. Both those theatres closed down obviously, as i imagine every porno theatre in the world has by this point, or maybe there's still one or two in places like NYC and Paris.

blue velvet in list

Lol what. Aren't the Church of Satan essentially just edgy reddit atheists?

Only problem for me would be AIDS and the fact that only homos and dudes go to those places, but if it was heterosexual stuff going on, then yeah, I'd do it

Retards unironically bragging about being addicted to alcohol, lol you guys are so cool.

but I still do it.

Why, may I ask? I was a teenage when shit like letterboxd first debuted on the internet and quickly grew out of the trend of rating or "reviewing" shit well before my 20s. It genuinely does have an affect on how you engage with film as a whole.

duel in the sun

the rest is pretentious midwittery. what the fuck is satanic about koyaanisqatsi

Who's addicted? I've sustained my habit for years, don't feel any need to drink though, it's just a passion, like kino.

Aren't the Church of Satan essentially just edgy reddit atheists?

Yes, serious satanists belong to other temples, even Anton's daughter left after a while to join Aquino's Temple of Set, which some ancient egyptian mystical whatever.

You've never read LaVey

It's damn near impossible finding hot chicks who want to take part in orgies, unless you live somewhere like NYC or Paris.

"I can quit anytime i want, but i don't want to"

i get that it's contrarian humanist bilge and not sacrificing babies to the devil, but what is satanic about a bunch of time lapse shots of cities and landscapes

A lot of people on here have this really fake Bukowski wannabe world weary drunkard persona
It

which dipshit is ruining westerns

It's not like that, it's just that there are people who see alcohol or cigarettes like a hobby, but aren't addicts. It's not either / or, black and white

Different things. Setians are theistic satanists, while Church of Satan members are non theistic. There are a lot of philosophical disagreements between both groups

there are people who see alcohol or cigarettes like a hobby

grim

Ok but then don't give me this horseshit

I can’t believe you’re all falling for such easy/obvious bait like the anti-alcohol shit

LaVey just spoke about the unconscious desires of people, which can actually be related to atavistic parts of the human brain. He talks extensively about mass human psychology and phenomena in The Satanic Bible, so that could be a criteria for selecting a film like the one you mentioned. LaVeyan satanism is also not humanistic; it's very much aligned with nietzschean ubermensch morality, lack of compassion for the weak and unfit, etc. He even calls the unfit "vampires of society"

NTA but the numbers simply represent different categories in my mind. 10s are my all time favourites. 9s and 8s are movies i'd recommend and rewatch. 4-7 is varying levels of indifference.

My question is why even rate a movie that's anything below your labeled "4"

For me below a 4 means I find its content objectionable. A dumb unfunny comedy might be a 3, whereas something I find philosophically evil like The Breakfast Club or The Apartment i'd give a 1. Its important to make the distinction.

the fact that anyone who watches a film believes that they have the ability to even remotely dissect what makes it "good" and what makes it "bad"

Even if normie ratings are ill-informed and superficial, its useful and interesting to have that data. I don't know exactly what your problem is tbqh.

I never really understood exactly what the Temple of Set is, can you give me a reading rec? Or maybe just explain to me in detail. I assume you know all of this stuff.

nietzschean ubermensch morality

niggas who say this don't understand nietzsche

philosophically evil like The Breakfast Club

Please elaborate.

DOGMA IS BACK

THE VOW OF CHASTITY

I vow to submit to the following set of rules drawn up and confirmed by Dogma 25:

1. The script must be original and handwritten by the director.

We compel ourselves to write the script by hand in order to nurture the kind of intuition that flows most freely from the dream, channeled through the hand onto the paper.

2. At least half the film must be without dialogue.

We insist on a cinematic approach to filmmaking because we believe in visual storytelling and have faith in the audience.

3. The internet is off limits in all creative processes.

We commit to produce the films relying on real people within our physical reality – rather than in a digital one infused with algorithms.

4. We’ll only accept funding with no content-altering conditions attached.

We assume responsibility for keeping budgets down so the team retains final say in all artistic decisions.

5. No more than 10 people behind the camera.

We commit to working in close collaboration to build trust and strengthen our shared vision.

6. The film must be shot where the narrative takes place.

Film as an art form becomes artificial and generic when we portray a location in a false light.

7. We’re not allowed to use make-up or manipulate faces and bodies unless it’s part of the narrative.

Just as we strive to maintain the authenticity of the location, we also want to portray the human body without a filter. We celebrate it – warts and all.

8. Everything relating to the film’s production must be rented, borrowed, found or used.

We commit to making films using objects that already exist and renounce the ahistorical and self-destructive culture of consumerism.

9. The film must be made in no more than one year.

We abstain from any lengthy processes that stand in the way of creative flow.

Is it tiring for you to constantly have to juggle every single movie you've seen into TEN different categories? Is it that important for you to track and document your perception/enjoyment/judgement for every single media you watch? If both answers are yes, then we just fundamentally have different views on the human experience, which is fine.

Even if normie ratings are ill-informed and superficial, its useful and interesting to have that data.

I work in research, I work with data all day, data is something you use to measure the success or condition of something. Unless you're a major studio or corporation, getting data on people's perception with film is a huge waste of time. Me hating something you like (or vice versa) should not matter to you whatsoever. Art is largely an internal experience too, tldr; the lion does not concern himself with other people's ranking/reviews of film.
Even when normies conjure up reviews on a film they mostly base it on technical aspects. Rarely do I see people on twitter/letterboxd engage with films on a theological/conceptual/emotional level. It's mostly like "cinematography was good, writing was bad, etc.) (but except drawn out into tiring 3-4 paragraph reads). On top of the ratings/rankings system being flawed when some films (if not all) cannot even be placed within a ranking. It doesn't make sense to me.

The Satanic qualities presented are the exploration of (...) Lust, Fetishism

Oh so they're talking about the fucked up rape scene where Isabella gets stabbed in her pussy multiple times. I guess they really are Satanic!

why do you all hate this dingo guy so much

1- great
2- great
3- fucking based and great, probably the most difficult rule out of all of them honestly
4- no shit? This should go without saying and is superfluous
5- pathetic zoomers, needs to be less than 5
6- good, but again a bit obvious for low budget indies, they’re already shooting on location and not using sets or false locations
7- great
8- I’m glad this is here but again this isn’t anything new for low budget indies
9- pathetic zoomers again. Should be less than 3 months- 1 month each for preproduction, production, and post.

It’s nice to see, but this could’ve been better. Let’s see how many films are made and how many actually follow every rule without breaking it.

Stardust Memories

A truly random inclusion considering Suspiria didn't even make the list lol. Funny to think the Church of Satan would enjoy Allen's work though.

It's pretty easy actually, it's just about rejection of societal moral dogma and understanding the necessity for an individual ethical code that comes from experience and individuation, that is, the removal of subjectively inauthentic societal procedural programming to give breathing air to the tendencies which are natural to an individual.

From what I understand, most occultists atm have a pretty negative vision of setians because they are a left hand path organization which has a view of the human ego which most right hand path orgs reject completely, that is, the setian observes the human ego as something to inflame rather than kill; for them it's all about power and doing one's will rather than doing the lord's will. The right hand pather comes to the opposite conclusion: for them it is all about submission for the sake of love, forsaking power if necessary to do the lord's will. The problem with both perspectives imo, is that they are extremes; one can't really love without power or have power without love. That's why modern practitioners sometimes do LHP work for a while then go RHP or vice versa. The balanced practitioner knows that to cross the abyss (achieve enlightenment), you need to use both hands (be ambidextrous). The setian's denial of submission also most notoriously ends in what occultists call "vampirism"; predatory magic aimed at self aggrandization at the expense of the soul. They usually become unhappy and disintegrate morally into what people call "black brothers". For more info on them, read Lords of the Left Hand Path by Stephen E. Flowers. A difference between them and LaVeyan satanism also comes from the setian actually believing in Satan the entity as a true being, a God even, while the LaVeyan usually sees Satan as just a symbolic ideal to achieve personally through adversity (Satan means "adversary"; to achieve strength, power and love through facing darkness).

Not gonna lie, this is a pretty bullshit explanation.

I prefer the Anon Babble manifesto

1. A New Spirituality

Anon Babble seeks a new spirituality in cinema, focusing on humanity and the profound truths of existence, rather than religious narratives.

2. Authenticity Over Convention

Cinema is a unique art form that should not be confined to storytelling conventions or mimic other mediums like painting or literature.

3. Embrace Imperfection

We celebrate wabi-sabi and mono no aware—the beauty of imperfection and the transience of life. Flaws in film are honest and human, and should be accepted and encouraged.

4. Intuition as Guide

Filmmakers must trust their intuition throughout the creative process to ensure authenticity and honesty in their work.

5. Subjectivity is Key

All cinema is inherently subjective; attempts at objectivity often lead to dishonest portrayals. A true film reflects the beliefs and biases of its creator.

6. Rejecting Modern Aesthetics

We reject the trends of ‘elevated horror,’ CGI, AI, and the commercialization of cinema that prioritize spectacle over substance.

7. Championing Analog

Anon Babble advocates for the use of 16mm and 35mm film over digital formats. Handcrafted cinema with practical effects offers a rawness and poetic essence absent in digital work.

8. Rejecting Modern Festivals

Major film festivals that prioritize trendy, abstract works over authentic storytelling are to be discarded. We seek genuine cinema that engages with real human experiences.

9. Emphasizing Melodrama

We view melodrama as the pinnacle of cinema—films that explore real themes, human experiences, and emotional truths.

10. Critique of Abstract Cinema

Symbolic themes and abstract filmmaking often obfuscate meaning. Cinema should awaken viewers to concrete truths rather than lull them into complacency.
(cont.)

Wasn't even me, was obviously a joke.

11. Courage to Fail

Filmmakers must have the courage to embrace failure as a path to finding beauty and humanity in their work, rather than seeking validation or accolades.

12. Inclusivity of Voices

Cinema is a collaborative art form, yet the vision of an individual auteur should not overshadow collective efforts. Great films can emerge from both well-known and unknown creators.

13. Challenge and Provocation

True cinema should confront difficult truths and challenge viewers, provoking thought rather than simply providing entertainment.

14. Rejecting Inauthenticity

We stand against inauthenticity in cinema, mass media marketing, and political agendas that manipulate artistic expression for commercial gain.

15. Diversity of Experience

Cinema can be anything but boring; if it must be boring, it must still offer a captivating perspective that engages the viewer’s mind.

This manifesto is a collection of principles and ideas meant to inspire and provoke thought. It is not dogma; filmmakers are encouraged to engage with these concepts critically and creatively.

I don't
Zellig is on there too

it's just about rejection of societal moral dogma and understanding the necessity for an individual ethical code that comes from experience and individuation, that is, the removal of subjectively inauthentic societal procedural programming to give breathing air to the tendencies which are natural to an individual.

nietzsche was not arguing against christian sympathy for the meek and poor because he thought there was a better morality that said trannies and niggers were the ones really oppressed. he was quite clear that pity for the meek and unfortunate destroyed the meek and turned them into slaves rather than generals and prophets. read the antichrist you moron

I shouldn't have to. The characters conform to warped mutt high school stereotypes. The stacey fucks a violent thug who just sexually harrassed her 20 minutes earlier. The other girl gives up her individuality to look acceptable to the jock so he can take her home and fuck her. The nerd does everyone's homework and goes home alone. I doubt John Hughes knew what he was doing, he just internalised mutt societal tropes and spewed them back out onto his screenplay. Children see this and think this is how life is supposed to work. Its pathological.

Is it tiring for you to constantly have to juggle every single movie you've seen into TEN different categories?

Nope it takes 10 seconds of thought after I finish the movie, its not a big deal. I only do it for movies, not music/games/books, and I don't watch television.

getting data on people's perception with film is a huge waste of time

A waste of who's time? They're logging a number, and i'm spending 5 seconds thinking "huh, that's interesting that the letterboxd crowd love Harakiri". I don't see why any of that is a problem. I can find that bit of data interesting without it affecting what I think of the movie.

lol, based. such entry level shit. You haven't even contradicted what I said, yet always try to be a smartass in the end

nietzsche was not fucking arguing for idiots to develop their own individual ethical codes based on what the worms in their brains decided. he was arguing for a SPECIFIC moral code. you are the one who hasn't understood nietzsche on a basic level if you go on about "LIKE SOCIETY IS LIKE MORALLY UNETHICAL MAN, I THE UBERMENSCH KNOW MY MORAL CODE IS RIGHT"

What do we think about theosophy?

Agree with all except 10

Ok man, the great N was the ultimate subjectivist and iconoclast of christian canonical morality, but cling to your dogmatic view of his body of work. I'll fap, ubermensch style, in front of a mirror

he was against aspects of it, such as pity. a pity that all you woke leftists STILL BELIEVE IN, but because you apply it to completely insane targets like faggots, women and niggers that's supposedly completely different. he certainly was not in favour of listening to slaves or letting them develop their own morality, but he appreciated christianity for its many spiritual aspects and achievements. you're not an ubermensch btw, you're a dimwitted narcissist with a thesaurus

Fuck, Wenders is German my bad. In that case I'll replace him w/ Jarmusch (much superior but disliked by the masses)

THE ACID WESTERN DEATH IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST LOSSES OF CINEMA

Malick, Eastwood, Araki

acid westerns sucked ass and i'm glad they're gone. watch classic westerns instead you freaks, none of that revisionist, spaghetti, neo-western crap

boring shit
fucking dingo you love capeshit

I'm more like a niggersaurus with a darcy wit, aka descendant of the dark one in intelligence :)

Is Malick disliked (in this general maybe) but to the masses? I know he is often accused of being a pseud. Araki is a good pick.

tastelet

Yes, boring ahh shit. Acid makes everything better

Bacurau is quite recent

Cool anecdote regarding Malick, I took a shitty film course as an elective for college and wrote a discussion post on Song to Song (don't remember the context). My professor left a comment saying that it was a "highly polarizing and difficult watch" and that he was surprised "I enjoyed it". This prof was always so condescending and made me realize that all film professors get paid 60k a year to be faggots.

NOOOOO IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY BLOOD OR TITTIES IN IT IT'S SLOOOOOOOOP!!!

get your minds out of the gutter and your hands away from those joints, daddioes

He is controversial, for sure. His early work is solidified in the canon, but his later films are very mixed in reception

i haven't even seen song to song, how the fuck did you see a film made in 2017 for college, presumably a long time after it came out

Phrase the question better. If its filmmakers you like, why is Chazelle there? He's crap.

You can't fathom some violence can you small boi? Those old times were as savage as humans can be

Not that anon but Chazelle made Whiplash so he's cool in my book.

Rare based dingo.

they're movies not documentaries you freak. movies where men are men and women are bright-eyed damsels and femme fatales. with ambushes and gunfights and people falling off of horses and rocks. none of this OH I'M A BOY WRANGLING CATTLE FOR 2 HOURS AND THERE'S A DEAD NAKED BODY IN A POOL OF BLOOD NEARBY crap

I mostly watch downerkino, but I feel like a fun movie for once. I don't want mainstream hollywood slop, but something a little more... IDK... low budget. Recs?

Luc Moullet's filmography.

Clerks is the way to go for low budget fun stupid slop

does Megalopolis fit in this manifesto?

i like to the wonder and knight of cups but i found the latter exhausting to watch. idk why you'd bother hiring A-listers if you're not going to have them really act

How about no manifesto no rules just do whatever the fuck you want.

houseboat is a fun time

Thanks, will check out that book.

I am witnessing how my middle school crush is now transitioning into a man. She now lets her mustache grow.
Films to cope with the fact I'm seeing how one of the most beautiful women I've ever met is becoming a twisted creature?

You could have saved her if you stepped up.

Despertar en el infierno (1971)

i'd fuck a cute girl with a moustache, chest hair and zipper tits. you might just be gay

For originality's sake, let's say The Ascent

tfw I finished watching all of Ingmar Bergman's directed works

Well, besides a few plays he did for tv, and I can't find a good copy of the tv version of Face to Face. I must admit, I am exhausted. Fellini was a piece of cake in comparison. Ingmar Bergman honestly kind of put me into a really bad mood considering how heavy some of his films are, though the only film that made me cry was Fanny & Alexander. Seeing the kids watch their mother scream out in agony while she's in the room with their deceased father kind of broke me.

Surrealist horror films? Looking for something with striking visuals, hopefully colorful

Thread is kinda comfy.

haiti has cinemas???

The Eve of Ivan Kupalo

you know i do watch these right? i just don't like them

Based, good job. Bergman is one of the greats, don’t let these threads fool you. I consider Persona and Winter Light to be some of the greatest films ever made.
If you had a top 5 from Bergman, what would they be?

Then you suck Dingo

Lucky… I ran out of college so I have been drinking ginger tea. But I love waking up making a hot choco and browsing Anon Babble

I want one now.

Take this one xd
Gottem

No particular order:
Hour of the Wolf
Through a Glass Darkly
Cries & Whispers
Scenes from a Marriage
Fanny & Alexander

It's hard to pick 5. Feels horrible not picking Persona, Wild Strawberries or some others. My top 5 would probably change in a week.

Never watched, should i?

Read thru the thread. Enjoyed the alcohol discussion. It is surprisingly relevant to my life now. But I don’t drink alcohol ever. I cut Pot and Caffeine from my life cold turkey. I would ingest entire 1/8 at a time and not feel it anymore. I would drink an entire cup of coffe in one morning and still feel tired. So I quit and now am going through some insane withdrawals. Fatigue, no appetite, harsh mood swings. I have been a degenerate so I expect this to occur for the full 21-30 days. This place has been keeping my spirits up though. So thanks film/

There are none, McQueen is as close as you get.

director's a faggot

Keep it up man, we're rooting for you.

That means a lot to me anon. Thank you kindly.

Top 3 alcoholic beverages

1-Mezcal

2-Tequila

No

Kek.

The only relevant alcoholic drinks are wine, whiskey, and gin for cocktails. Beer is for the proles. Vodka for slavic proles. Other spirits are gimmicks at best.

Everyone who has sex knows that tequila is the truly the greatest of all spirits

Oh WOW one cup?!? The ENTIRE cup?!?!!! Holy SHIT what a caffeine a holic, I’m so glad you cut that out of your life!! Sounds like you’re really benefiting from it too!!!!

im tired of eurofags posting on this thread

Yes that isn’t normal

1- scotch
2- beer
3- mezcal
Few things more delicious than a peated single malt scotch. Fuck, when I get home I’m pouring a dram.

This, but with mezcal.
So what do y'all be drinking for the night? Film of choice? I'm considering gin tonics alongside some Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors

Next.

Me too anon me too. Waiting for Russia and China to finish them off.

Was going say watch 76 89 03 (2000) even though some of the charm can be lost in translation. Give it a try.

You have no idea what you’re talking about- typical Anon Babble poster

The original US BD of Secretary (2002) has the old magenta mastering problem, but I can't find the superior FR Metropolitan BD for sale. There was an Australian BD released by Imprint last year but it's not on caps-a-holic yet. Anyone have a copy they're able to assay, or able to point me in the right direction toward some info? Been looking around for a while.

NTA, but I used to drink three cups a day minimum in my teens. Also drank 2 pepsis a day on that same era. No I didn't have sleep or heart issued, and was thin
