What's the most disappointed you have ever been in a movie or television show? Something you were on the moon with hype about and it just crashed and burned.
What's the most disappointed you have ever been in a movie or television show...
well recently watched the boys, i thought it had potential to be quite nice but it became more and more retarded with each season, soldier boy was cool though
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
the recent anime Lazarus.
The HBO Watchmen series... I didn't make it past the first episode lol
alien covenant was a piece of shit and i was hyped for like a year
Last thing I remember is when Stannis burned his daughter in Game of Thrones. I dropped it then cause that shit seemed retarded to me.
I will honestly never recover and my ability to trust has been permanently broken.
I don't know about the worst but recently I tried watching The Shield because Anon Babble said it was good but then I saw episode three with the interracial sex scene and that faggot nigger scene. Seriously, how do you keep watching after that? What is the allure?
Enemy at The Gates. I fell asleep in the theatre
Justifief. It got hyped as hell here and then I watch it and it's like Law and Order tier. Feels cheap as shit and just mediocre. I dropped it 4 episodes in.
Not over the moon but when a friend brought me to watch guardians of the galaxy I didn't know anything about it and thought it would be some nice space adventure and it turned out to be capeshit
you are genuinely mentally weak, displaying the same level of aversion to content as a liberal rape victim.
Had to think about this one... My brain usually just moves on very quickly if I didn't like something and my predictions regarding the quality of what I'm about to watch are also not too far off most of the time.
The answer is American Gods.
lmfao I still like S2 but I know what you mean, S1 was too good
The episode ends with some gay black police man who feels bad about being in the closet or some shit, I'm just not into that kind of drama. But hey, you do you man, to each his own I guess.
It's not even that I was a fan of the book or anything. I liked Fuller's Hannibal Lecter show and the premise of American Gods did sound interesting. Then the very good first trailer released and I got hyped. In the end I don't think I finished as much as the first season.
True Detective season 2. Should kept it to Ray and Frank.
The cg gay sex scene didn't do it for you?
niggerfaggot goes back to being straight through the power of God
You're a retard
Never does, who bottoms?, this is not like my yaoi fantasies
You're a retard
Like I said, I didn't watch after that episode. Why would I?
I had seen and loved all of PTA's other movies
Magnolia was hyped as great with Tom Cruise playing a "villain"
But the movie kind of sucks, his worst one besides Hard Eight
I think the actor's in jail now.
en.wikipedia.org
On May 20, 2014, Jace was arrested after he fatally shot his wife, April Jace. A jury convicted him of second-degree murder on May 31, 2016, and on June 10, 2016, sentenced him to 40 years to life in prison
Hype?
That word haven't existed in my lexicon in years, be more like me anons, a real god.
That, among other things. I was used to pooftery on the screen back then though, having watched Spartacus, Hannibal and other shows that had it, so it wasn't my main reason to drop the show.
Because it's a story, it's not fixed after 2 episodes
The whole point is for characters to grow and change
It wasn't even presented positively in the 2nd episode, he was clearly submitting to an evil temptation and the act was presented negatively
It would be like turning off a movie 20 minutes in because they did drugs and it was presented as doing drugs is bad
Animefag here but I got into hack sign on tv and ended up buying the dvds to rewatch them. I loved it so much I wanted more and saw Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. I couldn't get through that one. I never played the games either. Recently tried other entries in the series most are boring, Liminality was alright.
Agreed, it's easily his most overrated movie.
I remember thinking Downsizing was going to be an all time great film and not even making it halfway through the movie. One of the coolest concepts Hollywood comes up with in a long time and they fucked it up.
Star Wars The Last Jedi
Animefag here
then go to Anon Babble, subhuman
Shit was sad. Interesting premise. Then it turns into nothing but gay cab drivers, zombie ex wives, jewish leprechauns, mustache twirling villain gods that don't actually do anything. All style no substance. Ian McShane waxing poetic couldn't save it
Starship Troopers
It came out when I was like 10 and there was nothing in the world I thought looked cooler but my parents wouldn't let me
When I finally saw it was disappointed. I think 10 year old me would have been too
They took a <500 page novel, stretched it to the length of 3 seasons and still didn't even finish adapting it. I've been told the show got worse with each new season too.
duh
Not sure if I can remember anything I was that hyped for since being a kid. And when I was hyped for something as a kid, I convinced myself I liked it anyway. So yeah.
The Hobbit
youtube.com
seeing the trailer for this in high school and expecting some soul, we were getting back to back cool WW2 shit in games and movies (Peak cod Zombies hype, inglorious Bastards, The Saboteur, etc)
The movie was so shit fucking B-movie ass
I had such high hopes for Westworld after the first season but it turned into low-level schlock immediately in the second season premiere.
I watched the HIMYM finale when it aired. It was so ass that some people thought it was an early April Fools joke, which was the day after
It was so bad that it makes me hesitate to recommend the show to friends or colleagues
Cirque du Freak: the Vampire's assistant
I absolutely love the 12-book saga by Darren Shan. It's actually my all-time favorite book series. But they nearly fucking ruined it for me with the movie adaptation. I deeply regret actually going out to the fucking kinoplex and watching it. I pretended that I liked it because my Mom was kind enough to take me to see it but holy fuck...in hindsight, I think it might be close to if not the worst book to movie adaptation that I've ever seen.
Prometheus
The Hobbit
The Dark Knight Rises
2012 was the year I learned to never look forward to anything again
This, I'm not even a particularly big LOTR fan outside of enjoying the original trilogy, but I was dumbfounded by how shitty it was. Genuinely one of the worst movies I've ever seen
Legion. Such a promising start. Then, they turned into that “he raped me mentally, but it was REAL rape even if it was only in my head!” nonsense. And everyone turning on David, turning him into a villain, and turning the literal evil bodysnatching guy the hero.
I grew to hate the show. Such a waste.
The Walking Dead went from being amazing to complete trash. Diversity hire heaven. Some of the most forced casting of all time. The writing, directing, acting…everything got continuously worse as time went on.
Game of Thrones, of course.
Dexter is another one. That show cratered.
I've got an odd one
I really loved the kind of stupid Robert Rodriguez used to be
But at some point it feels like the retard half of his brain that made Desperado was completely overriden by the retard half of his brain that made Spy Kids
This movie should have been Desperado but it was Spy Kids, he can't make Desperado anymore, everything he makes is Spy Kids
Matrix Reloaded and Prometheus.
ABSOLUTE
FUCKING
GARBAGE
My wife and I couldn't even finish it
The Terror could chosen so many better locations/time periods and better actors
"We made a whole different show and gave it the same name to trick people into watching it" is cheating
I loved Altered Carbon so much and when I saw they were following it up with Anthony Mackie I literally didn't even start watching and apparently neither did anybody else, got shitcanned immediately after
Season 1 of Umbrella Academy was nowhere near as gay as it looked
Season 2 of Umbrella Academy was exactly as gay as it looked
Fuck you Ellen Page I hope your fake dick falls off
Episode I
The amount of n----s In fallout
I’ll still forgive this series just for giving moments like these.
youtu.be
I couldn’t make it past two episodes in. I got N fatigue. That black guy in the Brotherhood? Unbearable.
The Boys after season 1
Game of Thrones after s4
The Expanse Amazon seasons
True Detective s3(I couldnt get into 2, I was enjoying 3 until that dogshit ending)
Cabinet of Curiosities(im a big lovecraft fan)
Shogun after episode 3
Hbo John Adams after the first few episodes
The finale of Primal
I loved Yojimbo but Sanjuro was just comical he casually fights his way out of being encircled by like 50 armed samurai and wipes them all out with no witnesses theres no stakes at all
Honestly though I probably cant remember the worst of them off the top of my head, im sure i just blocked them from my memory
Westworld season 2. I just don't watch unfinished shows now. I know I know it's just I'm not going to get catfished thats all AHAHAHAHAHAHA
I liked the book
MC is racially ambiguous amerimutt
Let's make him a NIGGER in the show
Oh here we go, perfect addition, Barry.
Fucking loved the first 2 seasons, they were the perfect mix of drama and comedy for me, then there was a long wait, years with no news, I was constantly making threads about it hyping it up, trying to figure out if it was cancelled or not...then season 3 came out and idk if I even made it halfway through. There was way less comedy and it was mostly unfunny as shit now, the action felt lame, the drama felt hollow because it was so poorly written and suddenly decided to get all fucking preachy and political, it was a total shitshow.
Barry yelled at his dumbass bimbo gf because she wasn't taking a life or death situation seriously? Time to have a weird little ftm tranny lecture her about how thats ABUSE and spend the entire season whining about domestic abuse instead of fun hitman shenanigans
That character who's entire purpose was that he was a flamboyant super obviously closeted gay guy surrounded by conservative macho gangsters who inexplicable don't pick up on it and making jokes based on that? Lets put him in an open gay relationship and focus on romance and serious character development for him!
Dogshit, it should have ended after season 2.
I think i was just hyped to see Nick Fury again and thought it would be the return of the MCU. Definitely one of the most disappointing things ive ever seen.
It will always be Rome. Cancelled so they could muster the money to air Game of Shit, a terrible fantasy series with fucking terrible books, and genuinely terrible writing from the books themselves, that takes place in a fictional made up land, made up by a fatass pervert American.
LOST ending horribly comes in second though.
I liked season 3 but the final season ruined it for me
Guns are... le bad! Even if you're using them to save your wife and child from homicidal gangsters
what, you wanted to see Barry get in one final shootout? Fuck you! Guns are... le bad!
The Hobbit. They should have just made it an animated film with all that bluescreens
Preacher. The Saint's final duel with God was the only thing I liked about it.
Termiantor 4.
finally a full movie about the future war
staring Christian Bale
it was crap
Even Last Jedi wasn't that big of a disapointment since I assumed it was going to mediocre going in.
(turned out it was even worse than I expected but I didnt have high hopes anyways)
filtered plebs, barry was perfect
I unironically think James Cameron is fucking Sam Worthington
He's the only Sam Worthington fan on earth
For a little while he managed to successfully shill the guy into other peoples' $200 million movies until everyone realized he's literally one of the worst actors to ever enter the profession
a friend hyped this up to be the greatest thing ever, once I the shoq started getting questionable and coming up with bullshit I realized the creator of the show is the guy who did LOST so I knew it was kinda fucked from there. Worth a watch but man did it have some bullshit
this and Evangelion
not "hyped up", but watched a lot of disappointing shows lately
Mobland
From
Your friends and neighbours
Even "The Eternaut", while OK for S1, I feel is going to become a subpar S2
Barry was good thoughever
hi Bill. you shit the bed. the truth hurts, I know
writers mend their error with the gay black cop and drop that storyline after a while, he's kept as a brackground character and gets his happy ending
This is the first one that comes to mind for me. S1 was one of the few pieces of western media that I actually enjoyed and would recommend to other people. Then S2 came out and completely shit the bed. I almost quit watching a few episodes in with how disappointed I was, but I ended up finishing it because of how hilariously bad it got.
The other one I can think of is Promised Neverland. Again, S1 was really great and I remember recommending it to multiple people who also ended up enjoying it a lot. When I finished the anime, I picked up the manga and thought, "oh, this next arc is going to be sick in S2." And then S2 came out and completely skipped it and beelined it straight to the end, tripping all over itself the entire way. What a fucking waste of an interesting story.
The Expanse Amazon seasons
Those have some of the best space battles though
Star Trek Enterprise finale
The Witcher
I had high hopes with Cavill being cast and him coming across as such a true fan, the initial trailers and promos being promising, the music etc.
plus I had just played The Witcher 3 and read the books for the first time so I was excited to see the world brought to life
so let down when it turned out to be a rushed, jumbled mess with no regard for the source material
and it only got worse as it went on to the point it was no longer watchable
Heroes season 2.
I had high hopes
hahaha
Nobumoto is dead
of course it was gonna suck
the obiwan disney+ show. ever since RotS came out my buddies and i said they should make an obiwan-centered movie to bridge the gap between the prequels and the OT, since ewan was the best part of the prequels anyway. it was so obvious that the movie wrote itself - broken and hunted obiwan protects luke from afar while dodging imperials and butting heads with owen. it was a fucking layup and they whiffed it completely
Jurassic world. I didn’t even bother watching the sequels
The Hobbit.
I legit walked out of the theater when it came out
How did you not see it was capeshit? It says MARVEL studios in the first 2 seconds
Anyone with foresight knew they wouldn't be able to keep up the same pace with S2. Shit, I told people on this board a long time ago, and people thought I was retarded or something, even though they spent like 6 or 7 years just writing S1.
Plus there's also the trend that if S1 of a western show is good, S2 will inevitably be shit. Severance is also a good example.
season 5 of GoT
Who would cast Christian Bale as John Connor and then make him a supporting character to Sam worthington!!??!
They would have been better off hiring Albert Pyun to direct the film for 1/10th the budget
yeah that one is a brutal dropoff. it has hardhome though, so i put up with it on a rewatch. i never make it through S6
Prometheus and Godzilla 2014. I stopped being hyped for anything after Godzilla in particular.
Wim Wenders
William Hurt
looks nice
cool premise
It has to be good, right?
No, it's the biggest pile of shit imaginable
And the fact that it's 5 hours long ensures you will hate everyone involved in the making of this piece of trash for all eternity
I knew it was gonna be shit when they got Michael Green (Green Lantern 2011 writer) to write it.
DUDE it's not like the other Marvel movies trust me
it's actually even worse with double the amount of shitty quips
Recently? The bear monster.
I only watch S1 of Promised Neverland. Sounds like I should keep it that way
You were warned
Prometheus. Fox forcing Lindelhof on the original script to dumb it down resulted in the Ancient Aliens farce we got.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith was so bad I got into a fight with my dad after seeing it.
Matrix 2
D U N C
10 year old you would have been psyched about those titties i bet
Many Saints of Newark is the only time I've ever watched a genuinely horrible movie in the theaters, and as a bonus it had nigger cuck porn
Season 4 makes season 2 look like season 1.
umbrella academy was shaping up to be an actually decent netflix original or whoever made it, but the last episode and le twist in season 1 was just so ass its practicaly criminal
le 'the one with no power actually has a secret OP power' trope
ok gang all we have to do is treat her exactly the same as we've treat her all our life and not piss her off
every single character individually tracks her down just do go piss her off
she gets mad and then the season ends
wow
true detective season 4? I don't remember hearing about that
oh that's why
Joker 2. It wasn't just a bad movie; it was an actual fucking hit piece. I waited 5 years to see a character I loved get fucking raped and then shanked to death because the director was mad or something. Also, what rubbed salt in the wound was the smarmy fucks who acted like its 'the thinking mans movie' or some shit because they wanted to feel smart. Shit was fucked. Is that what cinema is now? Joyless vehicles for politics?
Wasn't one of the reasons for omitting a good chunk of the manga in season two that some of them featured underage characters carrying guns?
last season of better call saul
I remember how wild the original S1 threads were. Everyone was blown away by how good it was. Memes everywhere. And then all S2 gets for memes is endless mockery for the jailhouse sex while Jinx tries to kill herself.
It was so bad that it makes me hesitate to recommend the show to friends or colleagues
As opposed to what? The rest of the show? Look, you’re clearly such a borderline bicurious, effeminate numale that I’m sure rest of your preening, pronouns in bio, adult daycare colleagues would love it. Unless of course they find something “problematic”’ in it. Like, I don’t know. The many rapes committed by Barney.
Tl;dr as long as you don’t mind missing a HR write up, you can probably come across like the edgy right winger in your open plan office hell. It may even help swing you a shot at some zoomette puss. If that even is still what you’re interested in…
Expedition 33.
Arcane S2 was good though
I was excited to watch poor things because the costume and set design looked awesome. It was a shitshow
Same anon, same
Tulsa king it just didn’t work for me
DUNC part 2 for me, I'm a big fan of the book and so Villenueve not playing the story straight and instead making all sorts of gay changes really killed it for me.
i was excited for the force awakens but every single scene heaped on more and more disappointment. they didn't even try to come up with a new plot
2 recent ones which disappointed despite excellent production values and plot outline (which both squandered):
MaXXXine- dour, anti-men plot devoid of Mia's natural spark. Ridiculous ending
Murder at the End of the World- awfully acted, verbose and burdened by heavyhanded/cringe wokeisms
You work for me now
Absolutely filtered, I feel bad for you
True Detective. Seasons after 1 were brutal.
Hbo John Adams after the first few episodes
Fucking love that show but damn, you're right anon. I understand why they did it, with wanting to cover so much time, but it really does become a slog in the later episodes.
What's the most disappointed you have ever been in a movie or television show? Something you were on the moon with hype about and it just crashed and burned
I don't know and I don't care honestly. If you're going to adapt something, then either do it or don't. Especially when you know going into it that there may be things of questionable nature. If what you said is true, they turned what was a very interesting anime into a steaming pile of dogshit because of some stupid "image" when workarounds could have been found or just don't adapt it to begin with. But I think that premise is dumb to begin with when you have shows like Girls Last Tour or Strike Witches.
It gets better when boyd becomes a reg and it goes from episode of the week to plot
Dark Fate was when I truly internalized that modern cinema was now completely ideologically captured propaganda.
inb4 it was always / ((Hollywood)) / etc.
Sure. I’m saying that this was THE moment it really sank into my bones in the form of just utter disappointment evolving into pure contempt for “the message” before the end of a single film. Nie aside from a few cherished legacy films, I’ve almost completely abandoned giving anything modern television and cinema even a second thought.
They did me a favor.
I only watched a few bits here and there of star trek and i knew enterprise sucked but i had built up expectations of tng to at least be half decent sci fi and its just slave moralism false dilemmas and meaningless jargon. There isnt even any character development. Just jewish trash
Shogun
a GOT-style first episode showing off a bunch of political factions with clear goals, an impending war some good culture clash, plus an act of extreme brutality to ramp up the edge a bit
followed by eleven episodes of women's feelings
The matrix reloaded
I was like 13 and hyped as fuck and it was boring with aweird tonally inappropriate sex scenes and a bunch of niggers raving.
By the end i was internally coping that i was tired and didnt grasp the retarded plot
Dude, yes. I was just thinking of this. Season 2 they went full mask off with their politics, and it was just a race to the bottom. Literal freefall.
I watched longer than I should have beyond that, but when the love was gone, it was GONE. Fuck that show, fuck it’s waste of incredible talent at what should have been a magical conjunction amongst their collective career arcs, and FUCK the ideological extremists writing that trash. It’s the same crime scene for nearly everything I’ve come across in this thread. Pick a target, bait, switch, cancel, blame, rinse, repeat.
Part of me respects the grift, but this is literally the face of 5th generation warfare: social engineering.
If you want to hear the story, here ya go, bud
m.youtube.com
openly states he’s a fan of the books primarily
rightfully announces the second film was trash when it could and should have been gold had the director just followed the fucking path plainly laid before him. Something a child could do.
filtered.
You’re a dumb fucking bastard, you know that?
Escape from LA
I actually liked World. Fallen Kingdom, however, was such a shitbomb that I don't even know if I can trust any new movie with dinosaurs at all, let alone a Jurassic Park movie.
TFA was the most heartbroken I’ve ever been by a film.
Told my old man (who refused to see it) and he told me TPM had the same effect on him.
Game of thrones. I tried.
seething
Shogun was great though
Castlevania Nocturne. The poster looked awesome and I thought the studio would learn from its errors in the og Netflix Castlevania series, especially because the first season of Blood of Zeus was pretty good. It also had a neat poster showing two of the main characters and they looked sort of like Ayami Kojima's fanart
Instead, it had about a couple good episodes with some other good scenes, but the show was utter trash. You could see how lacking the art and animation became, and how boring and uninspired the soundtrack is. The story deviated from the source material entirely, which would be fine if it wasn't shit. They added the typical Netflix race politics, blackwashing a female character, which sucked but I would still bear with the torture had she not been such a le strong women. The characters were all boring, milling about, the villains were forgettable and weak, the design of the monsters and world was just sad, the action was lame gymnastics and lasers with no emotion or drama behind it. The stakes felt low and I just couldn't bear it anymore
It was the ultimate disappointment. I looked around online to check if I wasn't crazy and hallucinating after all I love heroic dosing magic mushrooms while binge watching movies and serials, but this time I watched it sober, and for some reason, retarded redditors loved it.
Its clear to me that the only people watching it were actual little children no older than 14 and mentally ill childish adults.
World was garbage. Kids were garbage, making the raptors friendly was stupid. Mutant dinosaur looked lame as fuck. Just a white trex. World was so lame. A big wet fart of a corporate movie.
Enterprise was fucking cursed.
I wonder if there are so few mentions of Game of Thrones because it's just kind of implied at this point. Or the fans are too beaten down to even respond.
TLJ with me, I wasn't in love with TFA but I gave it the benefit of the doubt because I thought the trilogy still had potential.
I remember everyone being hyped for samurai
I've only watched the bad seasons of GoT, and was still entertained. It's bad, but it's not without merit. Like an MST3k movie.
Shtiflix's Witcher was a meandering mess that I managed to watch for the few good moments in Seasons 1 and 2, but by Season 3 I quit. I'm not ashamed to say I couldn't be bothered to pause everytime I got off my couch to take a piss
GoT ended so gayley that it dropped out of pop cultural lexicon before the Chernobyl mini series even finished.
Primal. Riding off the high of Samurai Jack and an outstanding first season, it was jarring how pathetic the second season was.
