Towards the end of his life, he was arguably the greatest animator ever, surpassing even his idol Milt Kahl but Richard was never a particularily good storyteller or director. The recobbled cut shows that. It's 30 years of autism kino, By 'tists for 'tists but it doesn't have any mass appeal. That being said as a weirdo with his own passion project years down the pipe its hard not to be inspired by the guy. He refused to compromise on anything. Ever.
