The beetles are just one of many species enslaved by the bad guys. They are like the bad guys from Xcom who travel around the galaxy enslaving different species and making them do jobs they are good at and discarding those who are useless. Even the mind controller at the end of season 1 is a slave. The beetles are just builders. They probably didn't have enough money to show the other species.
Blows my mind that anyone has anything positive to say about this.
I watched 1.5 episodes and it was so aggressively dull I dropped it despite the interesting premise of killer snow.
No charm, no humor, no tension, no action, no drama, there's just nothing in there. Just some concerned looking adults doing mundane things and looking at each other mundanely.
It's kind of a feat that a show about toxic snow apocalypse is this boring. I didn't even get to the aliens stuff because I just couldn't imagine watching more of it.
inb4
hurr durr impatient zoomer
It's not impatience, I watch arthouse shit with long stretches of no dialogue. It's just boring. Waste of an interesting idea.
at least they do something, like building hives and kidnapping people, in the comic they just sit there until the army comes, swarming then and operating machinery like the light thrower
I didn't like the first episode that much, but it picked up after the second one, the story dwells deeply in the surviving aspect of the story, rather than in the action parts that comes later. Which is find by me, the better parts of the comic is Juan Salvo and Favalli trying to survive and barely understanding the capabilities of the invaders
didn't ask, don't care, fuck off
Everyone is old and unfit, the only woman who is introduced early in the story wears oversized clothing
Yeah I hated that part, it panders too much to the original boomer fans of the comic by making all the MCs unfit boomers. Except for the Church boy scout group, which is younger and seems in better shape.
for me it's the opposite. this shit was boring as fuck until the bugs came along
while I'll agree with you, the original Juan Salvo was younger, but he was also a reservist and a experienced sport shooter, back in the 50s it was pretty common for people to have some kind of weapon and practice with it a lot. But today in Buenos Aires most people don't know how to use a weapon and certainly few of them were ever in the military. So they made Juan older but at the same time a veteran who knows how to use a weapon like the FAL
There are no millenial characters in the show, it's either boomers or zoomers, I mean I am not autistic enough to be mad at that but it's a weird casting choice.
Except Carla Peterson she's in the millenial age range IRL, but I think she's portraying a somewhat older woman here since she's Darin's ex wife.
NVM, I just googled her... Carla Peterson is 51???? wow she looks great.
Oh no, a show with protagonists who aren't all teenagers and from a different race and sexuality how could I possibly watch this? are you telling me the main cast are almost all straight white males?
most of the older actors are well known in Argentina, even in other parts of Latin American and Spain. The young actors are not, so you have to throw the weight on the older actors to promote the show
Yes but enough about half life
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand El Eternauta. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Argentine culture most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Juan's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from peronist literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LA PATRIA. As a consequence people who dislike El Eternauta truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Lucas's catchphrase "Está Relampajeando" which itself is a cryptic reference to Borges' Argentine epic El Aleph I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Stagnaro's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have an El Eternauta tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the turras' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 33 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand
yeah, she was always fine
The show was ok
But this is "based on The Eternauta", not "The Eternauta"
It has a good solid %60 of padding and made up characters and plots
Same with the original comic strip.
she was always fine
No she wasn't.
She aged like fine wine, but she wasn't as hot when she was younger than that.
On her teens/early 20s, she was a discount Romina Gaetani.
Past 25 (like on your pic) she started to pick up and Gaetani started to wall in
Is it called the eternaut because it takes an eternity for the plot to start moving?
is this show a success outside of Anon Babble?
You are all talking about it. We win. And yes, you stole a lot from us and you can't accept that
Did we play the same game, I don't remember the snow or time loops (well, there's time travel)
There's like zero nogs in the show, that alone makes it worth it.
Yes, we get it, you hate the N's. The show still sucks.
No show can be a success unless it's approved by Anon Babble.
Come on, you can say it. Spell it out. No one is going to downvote you.
he dropped before KINO episode 4
Shaking my head
it's a weird casting choice.
That's Stagnaro special sauce, he does unconventional casting
is this show a success outside of Anon Babble?
Kojima has given it 5/5 stars, that's all you need to know
basado
I mean, those were cool when the comic strip was released in 1957. Now it's been done to hell and back.

chapter 4
Christ is king!
Why Christcuck must insert themselves into everything?, I was watching a comfy apocalypse setting then suddenly I got reminded that Jesus does exist (yet of course he doesn't do a thing to stop the invasion, just as he would do in real life too) how can Christians claim God is powerful if he can't stop a single alien invasion?
operating machinery like the light thrower
is sad that we never see them at all during season 1 despite having the planes they destroyed around the last few episodes
also the mind control mechanism no longer being an external tool on the bugs/humans is lame and will make defeating the big elephant looking ayy lmaos not as easy as the comic if they even show up at all
will make defeating the big elephant looking ayy lmaos not as easy
Doesn't matter, they're able to pull that trick on the big ones only once in the comic, after that the Hands change the system and they become undefeatable once again
It's like in that Contagion movie, when the nurses refuse to work the nuns step up in their place. I don't think it's a religious message per se, more like how people would turn to religious institutions as a refuge in the apocalypse.
Yes, there is a reason why they dropped the mind-controlling Plankton's buckets

NO HAY PLATA
They will most likely show the light thrower in S2.
that do you mean retard? there is close to zero positive depictions of christianity in modern hollywood, how jew can you be?
