i check
I check
I drive. Maybe we're not so different
Hmm, 16... I guess I'll stand.
Why does this upset people so much?
all in
They don't know how poker works and think what Matt did was a bad move
He can't act
Awww I thought spoilt rich elitist actors were smart!
:(
Wouldn't betting there just scare most off? I guess a small bet and the ace holders would maybe call?
it certainly wasnt a great move, shouldve raised
It's called bluffing. It's what people do in Poker
youre not thinking deep enough, he shouldve raised to give off the impression he has a good hand at which point theyd think he was bluffing so they raise back, now hou have a big pot and turns out he wasnt bluffing and wins, the way he went he got barely anything
scare everyone off thinking you just lucked out with an amazing hand
Genius
And if they all folded cause they had jack shit?
did you guys have dad poker parties at your house every other week or so? theyd get drunk and talk shit to my older sister while i creeped around as they steadily got more wasted and angry
It wasn't the check itself, it was how he checked. His voice, his body language, his breathing, his eyes - red flags and tells everywhere. If it were some amateur no one would care but this is a famous A-list actor completely unable to dissemble in a low pressure situation. It's like watching a master chef screw up a quesadilla or a concert pianist flub Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Checking and slow play are my bread and butter, I am a fisherman at the table and reel in big ones nonstop. The strategy fails if you look like a nervous teen asking his crush to the prom everytime you get a good flop
Acting in a movie and bluffing in a poker game are not the same thing you absolute autist. If you're acting in a movie, everyone is expected to suspend their disbelief. No one really believes Tom Holland is fucking Spider-Man. In poker, you actually have to be a good enough of an actor to fool people. A lot of actors, even the highly respected ones aren't always capable of this. It's just a completely different skill set.
"wait a second..."
*points at the 10s in the dealers cards then points at my own 10*
*all the while quietly whispering "one, two three...*
*pulls on collar*
*adjusts seating position*
*mouth audibly dry and voice shaking*
"yeah i'm thinking uhh maybe i'll call? idk i guess"
that's all he had to do
a lot of actors aren't good at acting
indeed
shouldve raised
literally couldn't, could only bet. guess the guy you answered was correct.
I’ll stay
Just because it's their job doesn't mean they're good at it. Have you actually stopped and thought about how many actors can actually act well? It's not a lot.
What if literally every hand I say out loud
No cap ya'll senpai are cooked now fr
?
It's a wise move. He's already got a boat, but if he raises this turn, he risks exposing the hand. And never try to bet out of turn. I made that mistake once when I started playing.
I'm agreeing with you
Thinking of going to my local strip clubs poker games. $25 buy in, dealer will have her tits out.
Poker tricks rarely work more than once, so you'd have to innovate the brainrot to keep it going for subsequent hands.
needs more context. How many chips does everyone has in relation to what is in the pot? When the pot cahs is very small than raising is just an easy fold for the others.
i meant bet instead of check
kek, I watched the clip
youtube.com
At the 3 minute mark the commentator even says
A Hollywood star with some pretty bad acting here
I think in poker, "tells" aren't as important as people make them out to be, but here, it was really obvious how he reacted to the flop.
still, idk if that makes much of a difference. Nobody else had strong hands so he probably still wouldn't have gotten much. MAYBE a small bet at the end could have gotten him slightly more, but there was no way for him to make bank on this hand.
Last time I played poker I correctly called some guy's bluff because I could see the pulse in his neck vein was going crazy. I was pretty proud of that one.
Man I miss playing poker, it's legal in my country but the whole craze died down like a decade ago at least.
I made 1000 dollars playing Spanish 21 at Foxwoods this weekend
His voice, his body language, his breathing, his eyes - red flags and tells everywhere
Worst acting of all time.
find some friends and start a poker group. I have a group that just started recently, we play about once every month or two.
see nut flops
jolt backwards
takes a minute to check while squirming in his seat
make a tiny bet on the river
everyone folds
Amazing bluff Matt.
Let me know when you go to the Casino so I can take all your money.
now let's see the flop
IS THAT FUCKING FULL HOUSE??? HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE LET'S FUCKING GO BABY THIS GAME IS MINE
ahem.... I check
kek
He's so far ahead here though. Guess the only thing you can do is price in a flush draw and hope someone hits while they place you on trip 10s and aim to rob you dry.
i guess we'd have to see other hands. maybe thats his goto move to throw people off
I have to enter this thread every time. It's like a curse
I'd have gone all in. You'd have thought, >"ha, this amateur is bluffing. Time to own his ass".
Then pic related would be you, as I sweep all your chips to my side of the table, quietly humming that Kenny Roger's tune.
UNO!
Anon if someone goes all in with a pair on the flop it would be dumb to call.
You're just going to look like an asshole buying the ante.
upset
they're making fun of you, matt
Why do people get mad because people GAMBLE at a gambling game? And often they win and people are mad because they "played wrong"?
There's two more rounds of betting
the problem is matt's acting instincts kicked in and he started making gestures like it was a movie and everyone was onto it instantly
I have no cards but I'll take the pot
a Anon Babble - Television & Film classic
I don't get it. He has a neutral expression the entire time. Is it that he leaned back a bit?
he might as well have thrown his arms in the air and shouted wooo hooo!
youtube.com
certainly pros would never triple che-ACK
just shut up if you don't know anything about poker.
How would you know he's not operating on a triple layer post-ironic reverse bluff?
Oh no you're destroying the narrative!
