Has this guy ever made a good movie? why is he even famous?

has this guy ever made a good movie? why is he even famous?

i only liked him in burn after reading and he has the coen bros to thank for that

made? none
been in some good ones however

He was great in From Dusk till Dawn

he's famous for being sexy i guess? and yeah his filmography is not that good, especially compared to his contemporaries like brad pitt or tom cruise

He’s connected with the Clinton cartel

Its not because he works for the CIA that's just a stupid rumor and a conspiracy theory and any work he does do for the agency is completely fine and above board.

Because he was on ER

He looks old as hell now

The plebest of pleb takes, Clooney has a great filmography and is an accomplished director for someone who's never "studied" the craft

From Dusk Till Dawn

The Thin Red Line

Out of Sight and Ocean's films

Three Kings

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (directed and supporting role)

Good Night and Good Luck (directed and supporting role)

Syriana

Michael Clayton

Burn After Reading

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Up in the Air

The Descendants

Hail Caesar

Money Monster

i like up in the air, it not great especially realising it came out during the great recession. fucking dystopian just like Outsourced(2006). his entire career has been him costing on his ER fame where he got famous for being the hot doctor in a procedural show popular with women

literally all of those films insists upon themselves

I don't like how he talks. His cadence sounds practiced and unnatural

The films he made with the Coen Brothers and Return of the Killer Tomatoes

Good Night and Good Luck

what a dogshit film and McCarthyism was completely justified, just look at Trumbo(2015)

based quentin

he's always right

showed promise with dusk till dawn, but chose to play straight clean characters instead.

That movie was good when I was 15 years old. It's trash.

Depsite alot of these being great movies, they've never reached global mainstream status, that's separates him from someone like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt

famous for being grey and smarmy. that's about it.
when he was in er then a bunch of fat greasy housewives started frigging themselves over him, a bit like low self esteem guys pick the ugly duckling girl in a tv program to obsess over - see the orange jumper girl in scooby soo. that elevated his apparent popularity.

true, but witch-chin isn't a director either, his last half decent films were in the mid 90s

Thin Red Line is the only one that isn't average and he had a small role in that

The Oceans movies are top tier.

Yeah, Michael Clayton

This
He's the jews favorite puppet

he's famous for being sexy i guess?

Because he was on ER

I've been rewatching some select ER episodes lately, and Clooney is definitely overrated in those, too. All he does is either flash that smug smile, or try to "act" by yelling. Neither is particularly convincing. It's also blatantly clear that he's reading his lines from offscreen.

You are talking out of your ass, he's an A++ lister for the ~35+ demographic. Admittedly <25 don't know him that well I imagine

Is he really handsome? What is it about him that makes him look confident? His sleepy eyes?

his contemporaries like brad pitt or tom cruise

those two were a listers when clooney was slumming on network tv, zoomer

he's famous for being famous.
he insists upon himself.

PR team presents you as suave gentleman

open your mouth IRL and you sound like a onions-dudebro theater kid who never grew up

Like uhh fuck that duuuude man fr
lol isn't he 60+?

The worst thing about them is Julia Roberts. So for this casting mistake, they are only high tier, for me.

they are his age contemporaries, stop bitching.

i saw this piece of shit in his newest coffee commercial he looked like john cleese

Yes, and asking that means you have some kind of illogical, possibly politically motivated reason to disregard his body of work and makes your opinion meaningless.

They're all celebrities. They've all been in fucking garbage. No one has a pristine career. If they did, they wouldn't be artists. Artists occasionally make fucking garbage.

stop bitching

Such kino

Besides all the other Anons who listed out the films he starred in that were good to great, there is another reason why he is so famous:

Clooney was the first guy to successfully transition (heh) from being on TV to the lead in successful films. There were a lot of attempts before this, but the actual real landmark thing he did was figure out how to be in E.R. to being in box office successes where he was the lead. No one had done that with any kind of consistency prior to him, and it's because of him that you began to see more TV actors showing up in movies in the lead role.

But what about...

Yeah, supporting actors/character actors did it for decades but THIS is the guy who got executives to start thinking about putting peanut butter and chocolate together, as it were. Then David Chase came along and broke the mold with what TV could be as a medium, and they inverse began to happen where they started taking the movie stars and move production sized budgets and throwing them on TV. It's why the line is so blurry these days for a lot of shows and a lot of movies.
