Got ya!
Got ya!
sneed
is that the bald porn guy in the back
trailer for 3 for should be next month right?
for should
*should
WE'RE WHALERS ON THE MOON
I clapped when he lost his arm
one of the best mech franchises of all time ngl
he survived this and will be back in the next movie
was he really such a draw? I realize the movies need more villains but evil na'vi are right there
chuck
I thought he was completely forgettable really. I liked the Recoms more and was disappointed they all got wasted so easily. Maybe Lyle will be back next movie.
THAT's the fantastic revolutionary cgi everyone was gushing about?
That looks great though. You're not going to do that scene with only practical effects and have it look good at all.
I love Neytiri :)
Avatar 2's plot didn't make any sense
According to the second film they've only been back on Pandora for a year but instead of bee-lining for unobtanium (which they need for starship fuel) they start exploring the marine life, discover the elusive whales, hunt them, examine their brain juices, test their brain juices on humans, find out in under a year that these juices halt aging, send the information back to Earth, do more research to find out it's safe to use on humans, determine a market price of 80 million a vial, and establish a whaling operation.
And all of this occurs in 1 year and renders the 40-year mining of a room-temparature superconductor that their starships need to a secondary mission.
They spent 12 years preparing to re-occupy Pandora. They gathered ALL their ships which they had in an enormous, multi-year long rotation between Earth and Pandora. They already had ships onboard that were going to start the ocean exploration stuff. And they did immediately restart the mining operations which now the Na'vi are powerless to stop. But the movie isn't about continuing to follow that arc since it's about Jake and his family fleeing to safety somewhere else.
A shame the ocean exploration stuff doesn't make sense timeline-wise or with regards to the original story
Yes, the whaling aspect is the weakest part of the movie. It sounds like it won't play much of a role in the next one and the story can move on.
Did you fuck with the framerate? It looks like A Nightmare Before Christmas
Is every story going to be them going to a new part of blue-people world and then humans discovering a new material they want to extract that hurts the environment?
And they did immediately restart the mining operations which now the Na'vi are powerless to stop.
Feels like this should have been more impactful in the story. But it isn’t.
Like the other guy said the whole finding out whale cum stops aging in less than a year? wtf? None of the whaling shit makes sense. And the whale cum is more important than unobtainium? wtf? How are you going to power your ships? Whale cum?
nah, just a bootleg copy from the early days of release
Despites its minor flaws, Avatar 2 was the only movie worth watching in the theater last year. Only Avatar 3 can save us from the endless slop
How long do you think it takes to learn about the brain juice? They're still mining Unobtanium. There's a whole scene showing Jake is still leading a resistance to stop the humans but it's getting harder all the time. Then the Recoms show up and force Jake to flee to protect his family. The Unobtanium is not in the area Jake fled to. There are whales there. They hunt all the Pandoran animals for various reasons and dissect them. The scientists determined there was something weird in their brains. The scientists are already very skilled in Pandoran creatures since they literally clone Na'vi and connect their brains to humans. It's not that big a jump for them to see that brain juice is special. I don't really care about the whales and hope Cameron doesn't make a new macguffin ever movie.
Have to agree. I went into 2 hating 1 and enjoyed it a lot. Cut down the whale swimming scenes runtime and it'd be even better.
center of the action is the harpoon being loaded
have a distractingly fake person moving around right under it
Tech is no replacement for talent
What a terrible movie
It looks fucking terrible
Like the other guy said the whole finding out whale cum stops aging in less than a year?
It only makes sense if RDA found out about the tulkun during the time they operated hells gate (like 30 years or something). This is entirely reasonable as the supplementary material has always mentioned that they're extremely active cataloguing pandoras flora and fauna for profitable things to sell
That guy's not fake. They did as much practical as possible.
The cgi in 2 was really poorly animated. Everything looked like a cartoon
Not at all. It's not meant to be seen as a tiny, shitty webm. Seeing it on the big 3D screen it looks amazing and photorealistic.
look they made a real model of the boat that means every shot of the boat is real
I wish I could turn my brain off this much
It looks great though. You'd realize that if you weren't one of those who seethe at anything that has any amount of CGI. Nothing can be perfect to one of you.
the bad CGI looks better in higher definition, actually
This is literally always the exact opposite of the case
worst part is he doesnt even do anything just picks up a towline and drops it
idiot always claims everything is fake even when objectively wrong
You're wrong, and you can go look it up. I'm not doing all your homework for you
What do you mean "go look it up"? the only way you can prove what you're saying is if you have some behind the scenes footage of them filming this exact shot with the actor actually there
Genocide all the blue fucks.
Their standard procedure is to reattach the cable each round. This time the whale dragged them by the cable, which was abnormal. When the guy goes to attach it as normal, the boss tells him to not attach it this time. Watch the movie before you whine about it, you stupid fuck.
So riddle me this:
In Avatar 1, they state that the cost of one of those avatar hybrid bodies is 5 billion.
In Avatar 2, a jug of that whale brain juice is 80 million dollars, because it halts aging. (Redundant when you’ve got cloning technology -cloning straight humans should be a fuckton easier and cheaper than hybrids- to replace somebody’s body and put their memories into it with a “soul drive” or whatever the fuck they called it)
Therefore just one of those Avatar bodies that they have running around is equal to about 59 whales. Now, they’ve got squads of these recoms (I don’t remember what they were called, but they dumped the bad guy from the first movie into one of these bodies)
How the fuck is whaling profitable, other than just screen shorthand for “humans = bad”?
Redundant when you’ve got cloning technology
Are you one of those tards that can't understand how a clone is not (You)? Making another you, even with all your memories, and having it carry on living your life does nothing for actual you. They DO NOT have the Eywa ability to actually transfer your consciousness to another body. The primary flaw in the sequel is them not seeing that Jake actually did transfer permanently into the Avatar and going nuts trying to find out how he did it and get that ability.
Why didn’t rda nuke the old base when they left? No self destruct button?
It looks like looney toons animation
you say that about all cgi though
He's just a racist caricature of an Australian
The primary flaw in the sequel is them not seeing that Jake actually did transfer permanently into the Avatar and going nuts trying to find out how he did it and get that ability.
This. Jake permanently transferring is the single most important event in the first film and changes everything. RDA should be trying to capture him alive and investigating the science behind the transfer of consciousness.
But overall the problem with the plot is that we're just not told or shown enough about why this whole venture to Pandora is worth it. We know they need unobtanium to build ships. But what ships? I believe the original idea was to build ships to get off of Earth? What progress is being made there? Where are they going to send people? Is there some paradise planet that's better than just building sealed habitats on Earth, the Moon or Mars? The sequel makes it seem like RDA has just forgotten about Earth and is on a trip to hunt and make some money.
Isnt' the Unobtanium required for deep space travel? Like the Spice from Dune?
the only entertaining parts of these movies are when the humans are doing stuff
This movie was boring as fuck to be honest
Still cool to see in theaters, but shit I was so ready for it to be over
So an Australian?
I watched this movie like 2 weeks ago and yet I clicked into this thread having zero idea it was an avatar thread
Barely remember this character at all
NAH
I like the first 30 minutes and the last 30 minutes
But there is a good 2 hour stretch in the middle that feels masturbatory and pointless
He's actually the best character in the movie
