What can we learn from this?

What can we learn from this?

Trying to take video game source material seriously is a mistake. Keep it silly and fun and not serious.

Slop

Dungeons & Dragons would be a better comparison.

A warcraft movie that made good-natured fun of it would have been a moderately popular comedy probably

Warcraft was a hit though

Everyone who played and cared about warcraft about around 05-10 had long since stopped caring about it by the time the movie came out,
people of all ages under 30 are still completely obsessed with minecraft

what is there to take seriously in minecraft?

Warcraft would have done better if they adapted the Arthas story instead of insisting to start at the beginning. even Warcraft autists barely give a shit about the first game's lore, it was only in WC3 that people really started caring.

What can we learn from this?

live action fucking sucks

Minecraft is an anomaly.

D&D is the last actual good movie hollywood has produced.
Well I say that but I have not seen eggers nosfaratu yet.

No one under 30 gives a shit about Warcraft anymore. Unironically a game for "uncs."

last actual movie I liked

ftfy

It was like that 9 years ago too lol

With Warcraft Duncan Jones' dad, David Bowie was dying and his wife also had cancer. So maybe don't give a job to someone who is going through a lot of shit

No I mean last actual good movie. Hollywood has basically produced only shit since the pandemic.
Last year there was only like 1 movie worth watching at all. But again I have not seen eggers nosfaratu yet.
DUNC 2 could have been great if he didnt fuck the story so much, turn pall into a smitten faggot for most of the movie and rush the ending so much it is anti climactic.

One had chicken jockey, one did not

Must be hard being an expert on everyones opinion.

A Warcraft movie that took a similar approach, of being stuck in the game and living out the absurdities, would have been funny as well, but wouldn't have as widespread of an appeal since Minecraft was played by almost every young kid at some point if they were born in the last ~25 years. Warcraft was a popular game, but it wasn't a game tied to little kid nostalgia.

Warcraft with the tone of minecraft would just be Jack Black as Leroy Jenkins screaming and everyone would hate it because it's still a smelly nerd game

There are 29 year olds still obsessed with Minecraft? I didn’t realize zoomers were that mentally stunted.

Go on then name some actual good movies produced since the pandemic.
You wont find any.
Even mickey 17 was mediocre.

Correct vidya stories are slop and pretending they are sacred cows is as retarded as every "but it's not comic accurate......" post for capeshit.

release Warcraft movie after WoW’s hype already peaked

start with the First War

There has been no such thing as a good video game movie. Sonic fans like the Sonic movies because they're fucking autistic but aside from that there has never been a universally liked video game movie

Not sure what you mean by good.

I really can't understand why people want games they like to be made into movies

Minecraft is universally liked

the people who want video game movies are the psychopaths who actually enjoy video game cutscenes. their logic is that they're going to get more of that

They are desperate for acceptance because video games have a massive inferiority complex compared to other media due to how young a medium it is.
It's worse for vidya but every other medium has a die hard core that believes ______ story portrayed by real life people would be the ultimate acknowledgement of being valid even if the actually product would inherently be worse then the source material.

See, there are no good movies other than D&D since the pandemic.
Some not bad movies but mainly just complete shit.
There are some exceptions as like that deadpool movie was OK, but like the other deadpool movies they are horrible after the first watch.

We need a Starcraft movie

Even Uncs don't care. The lore is now too fucked and gay with tranny dragons.

Brother man, art is subjective. Your problem is with the pandemic denting everyone's life. "Universally" celebrated movies don't exist.

We've got the cut scenes from StarCraft 1. You want more?

I think they like the spectacle of throwing popcorn at people and the memes more than the actual movie

No we don’t. Those idiots would probably start it with SC2.

You sound like you really don't watch a lot of movies anon.
Check out The Northman even though it'll probably be too boring and unironic for you to enjoy. It's a genuinely good modern adventure movie.

The crafting?

Maybe just make a good movie like 20 years ago? Who the fuck cares about WoW anymore?

Sometimes movies need to be made for retards.

eggers is currently my fav director of course I have watched it but that is literally his weakest movie it is not a bad movie, but it is not a good one either (though again I have not watched nosfaratu yet)
I think the major problem is hollywood has barely been funding good scripts and instead have been just shoving out shit like comic book movies and shit like that that they are not funding what could be great movies. Among also shoving american race shit propaganda in their movies as an agenda rather than making fun and unique movies for the sake of it.
Shit you still have not even named a single good movie yet you are insinuating that there are loads.
The D&D being such a great movie was more of a fluke

That only works with something like Minecraft

I am just checking this list of so called best movies of the 2020s and disregarding movies from 2019, before the pandemic hit, look at all the so called "best movies" that are in fact not very good.
i will name some that stand out.
imdb.com/list/ls096094221/

DUNC 1
Druk
Banshees of isherin
The holdovers
And of course D&D but it is not on that list.
That is it. I cant think of any other actual movie since the pandemic that was even worth watching.
Again Dunc 2 could have been great if not for the director fucking the whole shit up.

Warcraft didn’t flop because it was a serious movie it flopped because it was terribly directed. The pacing is fucked, the human actors don’t feel natural, the sets look cheap and fake. Warcraft has a great story that a talented director and writer could’ve brought to life but they failed with this movie. And Warcraft is a dead brand so there’s no “trying again” the fad is over.

how is it serious?

imdb list

Warcraft isn't a movie kids are gonna bug their parents to go see in theaters.
If there is even a HINT of grimdark or ADHD-repelling boringness in your video game adaptation it's gonna flop. Same happened to Detective Pikachu ironically.
Bright, colorful toddler-appealing movies like Minecraft and Sonic are the way to go.

Yeah well it is someones list but i was just using that as an example to show how shit hollywood has been since the pandemic and how we have not had, or barely had any actual good movies since the pandemic.

Minecraft is the single highest selling game of all time. Not gonna work with most other games adaptations

d&d was not that good brother but I do agree that there hasnt been much since the pandemic

How come nobody makes a Counter-Strike movie?
Both boomers and zoomers love different iterations of it

D&D was a great movie, It has all the hallmarks of a great movie. Characters, script, story, sets, humour and even in all this it seems they were still doing their DEI propaganda with the casting.
Again a fluke and it did not even do that well at the box office but it is a damn good movie.

D&D is the last actual good movie hollywood has produced.

References and memes get you a billion

it flopped because it was terribly directed. The pacing is fucked, the human actors don’t feel natural, the sets look cheap and fake.

You can attribute all that to Minecraft as well

The funny part is that videogames have already overtaken hollywood, they don't need their approval at all.

That Hollywood, despite over a decade of trying still doesn't understand how to adapt video game stories to film.

The Warcraft movie came out at the wrong moment. 2010s videogame movies were bombing or being universally panned.

please euthanize yourself
