What's your favourite post-Silent Era silent (or near enough) joint?

He's working on a narrative film rn
I hope he lives to be 150 years old

He's wrong about chickens.

Why is Aparajito the lowest rated film of the Apu trilogy on Letterboxd despite it being the best of the three movies?

What does Anon Babble thinks of Derek Jarman? I've seen that he made some music videos I like but I never seen any of his films.

based edition, does anyone know where i can find this in 1080p btw

Gen-Z is trying to cancel Albert Serra.

Umm.... You're Chinese

Korean*

I love his contributions to the Coil oeuvre
And his film "Blue" pissed off famously pissed off that Portuguese weirdo, so he's eternally based for that

but what if a retard was gay

EHEUHEUHEUEHEUEHEH!!!

He is already shooting a non-documentary movie with the Mara Twins right now. It's about two sisters who spoke in unison and stalked some guy wanting to fuck him (real story).
He also already secured funding and a deal with an animation production company for an animated film he is also developing.
Basically we still have Herzog kino inbound for us.

I really really really hope he gets a Perfect Days Wim Wenders style comeback.

the chinese copy yet another western classic smfh

Idk why people loved Perfect Days so much, it really wasn't that good.
Herzog also doesn't need a comeback really, Salt & Fire and Family Romance LCC are good gonzo-cinema. Salt & Fire was unfairly maligned. Queen of Desert was the only definitive dud (wasn't there some autist here that was defending that bore for a while?).
Wenders on the other hand indeed produced nothing but genuine shit for a while. Perfect Days was ok in contrast I guess, but became quickly overrated.

Support your claim young man, or be forever banished from these lands.

Glad you liked it and understood what the movie is going for. I agree with your thoughts on the film, and in many ways I think this film evokes senses through memory better than Hiroshima Mon Amour did.
Cheers anon.

Also what race are you btw? I am curious about how other races respond to the film

>"Because she monkey" - Werner Herzog when asked why he prefers Kate to Rooney. "Rooney may be prettier and a better actress, but Kate... she monkey"

Yeah I'm a jacked Taiwanese boy whatup

come collect your trash from /kdg/

CANTONESE BOYYYYYY BANG YOUR TIN DRUM

The French New Wave was a mistake. Critics should never become filmmakers.

It was and it wasn't. YA-DIG?

What are some cool movies

Le Samouraï
Branded to Kill
Thief
Fallen Angels

EATING ASIAN PUSSY, ALL I NEED WAS SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE

Le Samourai is a great choice. Alain Delon was the definition of cool at that time

Damn. You guys really punch above your weight here.

harper
the killer elite
point blank
the cincinatti kid
danger diabolik
sweet smell of success

We'll never see that deleted scene of of Myrna Loy in a see through negligee

I hate the Hays Code

Watched my third (and final) Godard. Most overrated filmmaker to ever live. Easily. No contest.

RIDLEYSCOTTBROS...

Most overrated filmmaker to ever live. Easily. No contest.

what about Ridley Scott?

koh.jpg - 659x398, 53.27K

What were the three?

Thought he had died for a second
I keep waiting for him to stop making films but I'll probably get sad when it does happen

Fuck off John

The Isle since that's the only one there i know.

what about Ridley Scott?

Alien and Thelma & Louise are actually at least as good as people say which is an incredibly achivement for something mega popular. Legend is slightly underrated but I'm biased towards any high fantasy on film
The Dream Songs because lesbians are cool

I really like BR and Alien.

Breathless, Pierrot and Le Mepris.

favorite post-silent era film

Only technically post-Silent era, but Sunrise is still one of the few silent films I've seen that actually has strong visual storytelling, to the point that if it had more dialogue it would be ruined. If we're talking about modern film, I saw picrel by complete coincidence, but it's amazing.

Are you Tsaisis? I figured I could count on you to engage with some AMWF kino.

The Limey
Vanishing Point
The Driver

the driver isn't cool, it's stylised nonsense with no characters for film nerds

Is this Haneke

image.jpg - 1122x603, 64.12K

b-but I drive

Haneke kinda looks like a white Miyazaki (or Miyazaki looks like a Chinese Haneke)

Disagree, that director is pure shit for the most part. That is his best effort nonetheless, easy 5/10.

Trollin' this early in the day? Anon Babble gets more unhinged by the minute

HOLY BASED

IMG_3237.gif - 200x114, 191.35K

I don't know who that is

How did tino think this looks good?
everyone's skin looks plastic. the wardrobes look plastic. every shot looks almost like a Superbowl commercial. It looks like if No country for old men was shot for Netflix.
Inherent vice infinitely shits on this

Every frame a thumbnail lmao

Yall niggas rockin with the new Ken Carson

I wish I was Chinese

It's called shooting in FILM, digitalcel

Yt man stealing from POC art. Tsk tsk tsk a tale as old as time.

All I know is I finna take my Chinese ass over to France pronto

California is very dry

Would have liked to see more Mikey Madison ryona but I enjoyed the movie. I'm curious about the book, there's actually some interesting George Spahn lore that Tarantino glossed over. Apparently the scene where Bradu Pittu checks in on him and finds that he's basically invalid and blind in a tiny trailer on his own property while the hippies are taking up the house is based on a real encounter Clayton Moore had.

That's his style: no substance in aesthetics or themes.

Shooting on film*

Are we really pretending this softcore, borderline PDF file porn was a genuinely good film

You obviously have never watched it

t: didn't see it

you beat my meat to it

the judge, the police, everyone wants to fuck young girls

roman_paris.jpg - 926x650, 160.59K

This film is making a real resurgence these last few years, I love it.

Plus age of consent was 15, it’s the equivalent of the old Chinese dude hooking up with an 18 year old if it was in America today. Laws are fickle like that.

Actually, no. There is a very small amount of people into that.

every frame a thumbnail lmao

That is naive. Most of it comes down to opportunity. Humans are quite vile.

Humans are quite vile.

I disagree, I think people have a nature, and that's all. I don't judge stuff based on morality. That being said, I think it must be around 2% of people that are attracted to the things being discussed in this thread. Most people really feel nothing for those kinds of persons.

QOTD: The Thief (1952)

who'd i miss?

baiting me to post my "women discussing shota rape" image collection

today I will not be baited

Our only moral prerogative on this planet is to bear witness.

Okay, let's see it like this. In Hollywood and celeb circles, the chance for You to be around a certain Mr. Epstein is about 200%, but around regular people, it's about 1 to 2%.

Our only moral prerogative on this planet is to witness bears.

Every frame a seedling

i'm working through the 50s for my next list and it's so fucking dry, i've found 30 movies i feel confident in putting on my list but i need 20 more. i feel like this is going to take me at least two weeks and 60 more movies

letterboxd.com/dingoatemybabi/films/decade/1950s/by/entry-rating/

To what? Your faggotry?

No, yours. Show us your abilities, anon.

*puts a ballgag on your mouth*
*ties your hands and legs to the bed*
*palms the tip of your cock with my oiled hand*
*rubs it like a manual gear shifter*
*starts whispering Sarah Gadon trivia into your ear*
*makes up fake trivia about your favorite movies also*
Heheh...

Goddamn... youngster's on a come up! That deserves a prize *tips a 100 bucks*

I support and stand with the blacks.

Mesrine (2008), La Haine (1995), Escape from New York (1981), Alphaville (1965), The Magnificent Seven (1960), Dead Reckoning (1946), the list goes on.
He was a big fan of Charles Bronson acting style and it shows.

Ok, bad and masterpiece. I'd say try some of his 80s stuff, if you still dislike them then give up.

I'm not sure how i feel about Dalleposter anymore.

I'm moving onto the other FNW niggas. Doubt i'll return to him for a long time if ever.

I'll rec you some gems I think are lowkey greatly lensed, apart from having other upstanding qualities:

Sansho the Bailiff

Most of early Fellini: I Vitelloni, La Strada, Il Bidone, Nights of Cabiria

The Hidden Fortress

Throne of Blood

La Grande Guerra

Paths of Glory

3:10 to Yuma

I regret not joining the merchant marine when i was young. sailing the high seas looks so kino and relaxing

He's a hit or miss filmmaker for me. Seen six or seven of his and none of his later era yet. Unpopular opinion, I know, but I must shoot my shot here.

i have all of these on my watchlist, but thanks. i will say, as a recommendation of my own, i've really enjoyed discovering all these western lensed by irving glassberg, bend of the river, backlash and the lawless breed. highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't seen them

My personal top 100 is much more interesting and appealing than the sight and sound list.

I don't think La Haine is cool, it's pretty edgy. Cool would be something like Breathless

Besides David Lunch and Koji Shiraishi, are there are any other filmmakers that use (deliberately) very cheap, very digital looking special effects For Surrealism's Sake?

file.jpg - 736x556, 57.49K

Every frame a thumbnail lmao

that was LA in the 60s. I svffer

Nah, it's cool. Not a super great film, but it's decent, looks great and captures the hood experience very well. Also has that nigga from Irreversible in there, so extra cool points for that.

Thank you for the recs.

I don't think La Haine is cool, it's pretty edgy.

Yeah it's a bit edgy and raw but it has its share of coolness.

Breathless

Damn, how could I've forgotten about that one. Yes, it's got a cool and juvenile energy all throughout!

are there any new mega leaks to watch this weekend?

What's the closest Japanese equivalent to HK heroic bloodshed movies? I've tried out a few Yakuza flicks but I've been disappointed with most of them, but picrel was pretty decent

Do I need to watch Nosferatu 1921 to watch this? I can't watch silent films but I wanna watch this. Anything I would be missing?

nosferatu.jpg - 265x376, 25.94K

No, go ahead.

I think it's cool to see the improvement after 50 years. But no, it's not a requirement to. It's a remake, not a sequel, after all.

Nah.
But watch the German version, if possible. The English one is a inferior.

I thought it was funny at first, but this incel freak is starting to give me the ick!

Who?

The Chinese nonce.

The one in last pic rel?

you need to watch every other film in the NCU (Nosferatu Cinematic Universe) to appreciate it

I think he might be upset about the La Haine thing

What did he think of it?

You need to watch Nosferatu 1921 if you want to post again in this thread. Eggers started there.

RIP Ted Kotcheff

Watch Wake in Fright (1971)

Side note, I wish she was in more stuff
She's only been in a Luca Guadagnino flick this decade. If only Gallo hadn't killed her career...

chloe2.png - 640x814, 335.79K

I'm moving onto the other FNW niggas

Take the Rohmer pill.

images (15).jpg - 572x536, 48.76K

Of course, any of our top 100 is.

Teddy died? I'm not expecting a sticky but a thread would be nice

You are a unique poster i'll give you that much.

People liked you at first, but now that you've embraced the worst posters here (Dingo, Lil Hitler, Lil Chang, etc), you've quickly turned into a despised figure. Sad!

Lil Chang? Who's that?

I can only B myself since everyone else is taken

Dingo

Dingo I love only for his commitment to the bit, if he's being a meanie panini to somebody I'll mutilate his face beyond a reasonable amount.

Lil Hitler

I don't know who that is, but the name sucks ballz.

Lil Chang

I don't care about AMWF stuff, I just liked a movie.
Does that cleanse my reputation, princess?

Yeah but it's going to be an animation
I wager senility will get the best of him on this one

She's posing for consoomer products now and then. I even saw her on the cover of a magazine! (many actually)

That skank could pose for the Anon Babble 'zine.
