Reed died from a heart attack during a break from filming Gladiator in Valletta, Malta, on the afternoon of 2 May 1999.[64] According to Gladiator screenwriter David Franzoni, Reed had encountered a group of sailors from the Royal Navy frigate HMS Cumberland on shore leave in a bar (the pub), and challenged them to a drinking match.[65] Reed fell ill during the match and collapsed;[66] despite efforts at resuscitation by his friends, he died in an ambulance while en route to hospital.[67] He was 61 years old.[67]

I DIDN'T SAY I KNEW HIM, I SAID HE TOUCHED ME IN THE SHOULDER ONCE.
kek
Why did he sperg out just because of a simple question?
He just gave a heartfelt speech, decided to crown it with a reference to Marcus Aurelius and Maximus started to being a dickhead and laughed at it.
I met him once at a movie convention in Britain when I was 10. We waved at each other
I recommend the book "Hellraisers" to anyone who finds this kind of drunken debauchery interesting. It features stories about Reed, O’Toole, Richard Harris and one of the drunkest actors of them all, Richard Burton. I remember a part of the book that talked about a surgery Burton had when they found crystallized alcohol on his spinal column. Reed’s last night on Earth is pretty tame compared to the stories in that book.
lmao you knew Reed?
I DID NOT SAY I KNEW HIM, I SAW WE WAVED AT A CONVENTION ONCE
I said he leaned on my shoulder once and vomited beer onto my shoe.
They get so pissed at the end of the night they could take a piss standing right in front of you and not even think.
He'll go to hell for not dying fighting. And having died old. But at least blah blah blah.
heh
is Gladiator good?
Crowe made some decent kino. watch this and Master and Commander
DO YOU WANT TO DIE OLD MAN?
The best. A true roman movie for true Romans
I'll be honest, Gladiator is kinda shitty. Maximus is something of a Mary Sue character, the way he claims the legions are loyal to him and immediately gets betrayed is pulled out of nowhere. Crowe's performance was lackluster and Phoenix was the jewel of the film. This mocked speech of Reed is also another high point. The combat scenes are kinda lame, they don't contribute to the story in any special way.
it's okay
bless him
Objectively yes but you might be overthinking the film. It's not supposed to have a great plot, it's title should tell you everything you need to know about the film. It exists to give people gladiatorial fights. it's a popcorn film
Not entirely wrong. The opening sequence is classic though, before the slo mo hand to hand starts.
this made British boomers shit and piss themselves with laughter
Gladiator, Rome and Spartacus (the series) are the triumvirate of quality Roman kino.
you need to watch i, claudius and revise your statement, friend
TRVE roman kino for TRVE Romans
I SAID HE TOUCHED MY COCK IN THE URINALS ONCE
