That was it? That was what everyone's been blowing their loads for?
Finally Watched It
When expectations are so high it's easy to be let down.
Its not made for you. Take the filter and move on.
Why do people post their thoughts immediately after watching a movie? You have to let it settle and maybe watch it another time to understand the themes. Stop acting contrarian.
Like it was good, and Daniel killed it but it boiled down to man gets rich and greed overcame him and he slowly decsended into a worse and worse person. Capitalism bad, okay yeah but ehhh?
What I don't understand is why HW talked like someone who was born deaf, when he had like 10 years of speech under his belt before he went deaf.
Why do people wanna discuss movies?
Shut the fuck up faggot, get out of my thread if you're gonna be a retard
Saw this in theaters when it came out, and during the final scene there was this obese woman sitting near me who was laughing hysterically, including when he was attacking the preacher. Then when it was clear he killed him she just said "oh"
You try not hearing a human talk in 10 years and trying to speak without being able to hear how you sound
That's not what happened. What do you think the scene with his fake brother was about?
Because you cant hear yourself or anything anymore. People with just hearing damage talk louder because they cant hear themselves as well.
There were scenes with Eli that I'm not sure were meant to be funny or not. His squealing out of fear was genuinely funny. I wouldn't be surprised if Paul Dano tapped into this when he did Riddler. Everytime he'd go into a religious spiel all I could think of was him sperging out in Batman going "NO NO NOOOO AVE MARIA THIS WASNT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN NOOOOO"
Which specific scene? He caught on that it wasn't actually his brother and he was someone who was only after his money. He has a distrust of people, he doesn't like people and thinks they're all beneath him. He's basically unable to form actual relationships.
Yeah I never got the hype either. Feels kinda aimless and it ends just because the writer decided to finish the script right there and then
Capitalism bad, okay yeah but ehhh?
You're just a retard who reduces things to something you can comprehend. You think that the evil leftoids are going after capitalism therefore this movie, that was made before everything became so topical mind you, is somehow are an attack on your perceived values.
I dunno, if he had a story arch where he lost his total ambition to be generous I'd be sickened. If you want a happy ending watch Magnolia.
he was a bad person before the money, you fucking dolt
Are you a retard? Are you saying the concept of capitalism being a moral problem is something that only came up in the last decade? You need to kill yourself, please.
I don't care about happy or sad endings the story just felt kind of aimless.
Yeah and he got worse
You're the one interpreting a story that shows that money isn't everything and doesn't bring happiness is an attack on capitalism and are telling others to kill themselves? Get real.
Yeah, he came to that point in his life because of capitalism. He lied to people to get them to sell him their land by basically ripping them off and buying their shit for pennies while he used it to make hundreds of thousands. He stepped on everyone to get his fortune and in the end he ended up with nothing and a big empty house with no one to share his life with.
He's an antisocial but highly ambitious person who thought that having great success would achieve catharsis and take away his deep loathing. When he achieved the highest form of success and he still didn't feel better he went insane from it having given up all hope. He was excited to see what he thought was his brother hoping he would be the only other person possible he could relate to with his unique outlook on life given they have the same DNA but of course he was just a faker further cementing his isolation. No man is an island we all need people in our lives and meaningful relationships. Ambition, success, and money are no substitutes for emotional and spiritual connections.
nta but the movie isn't explicitly a critique on capitalism or promoting communism. You could say it's implied, but distant from anything the movie is trying to show. It may even show capitalism to be a good thing, but that too would be a distant reading. It's really just about obsession if I were to reduce it down to a word.
I mean its obviously not directly critiquing capitalism but it's certainly a part of it. It's obviously more of a character study. It's not like I was sitting through the movie going "ohhhh capitalism bad" it was more like "damn how much deeper into the shit is this guy gonna go"
You could watch a movie about stalin and say the same thing
Then literally every movie that's about a character whose goal is to obtain money from illegal or immoral ways is a critique of capitalism. That's why I'm saying you're a retard. You can try to reduce everything to a single word where the whole thing loses all meaning. Why not just say greediness? No, it has to be an attack on this thing I hold sacred.
never saw the movie only read the book the film was based on
filtered
happens a lot with tiktok dopamine addicted brains. dont feel bad
Maybe you built it up too much in your head. It's a good movie.
Not OP but i watched it years ago.

amadeus is a musical
nigger moment
That just sounds like you are primed for that reading rather than the specific attributes of the movie.
its a psuedo-musical retard, they tried something different and it resonated with midwits like you
Why do people like that movie?
Because it's fucking perfect and you got filtered because it's too subtle and you missed the themes because you have no love in your life.
