Every time the show tries to do something book accurate it's undermined by the fact that it comes out of nowhere. Why the fuck would anyone who's only watching the show care about a wolf head banner? We haven't seen the fucking wolves even ONCE in this entire season.

A lot of modern day writers assume a weird meta-knowledge out of the audience and don't realize that when you do an adaptation a good chunk of your audience probably isn't familiar with the source material. The star wars Ahsoka series had this same problem where they were talking up Thrawn as this amazing powerful bad guy, and yeah he's got a great book series from 20 years ago but to the viewer he's just some blue asshole who everyone is afraid of but hasn't ever done anything.
