Queen of Anon Babble
Sovereign Princess of Anon Babble
no cinematography
what a blunder
Heard that this is Gaspar Noé's most accessible movie, what am I in for?
Have you seen Amour by Haneke? It's kind of a rip-off of that
FUCK, I knew this movie reminded me of something.
I actually lost some respect for Noé because of this. During the 2012 Sight & Sound poll, he put Amour in his top 10.
Then he makes Vortex and claims that it wasn't inspired by it (I think he said he hadn't even watched it at some point, but I could be making this up). And when his 2022 top 10 gets released, the list is mostly the same, except for Amour being removed.

Meh. At least with Angst he fully acknowledges its influence on him.
Probably fried his brain on drugs, afterall the dude had a brain hemorrhage not too long ago, I think
Vaxx status?
Gaspar actually seems like a contrarian so I'm not sure if he was vaxxed. He even travelled to Moscow last year, he's pretty chuddish. He also wanted to prove that he was not homophobic while making Irreversible by casting himself as one of the cocksuckers in Rectum but I think he did it as an alibi to not scare off the art hoes
'gento status?
has Anon Babble watched the latest Egoyan joint?
Thoughts?
I think he has much more interesting taste in music and literature than in film, but
Lars Von Trier: Riget
I fucking kneel
Approved
Lars Von Trier: Riget
Isn't this a TV show? Kind of unfair to put it in the movie category
the wild bunch
decent list purely for that
Is there an actual reason to watch a Richard Kern film besides seeing Lydia Lunch's pussy and her giving head? The one time I said to myself "oh, maybe I'll actually watch all of Fingered this time" I backed out after 5 minutes because it was dreadful.
it's only considered a mini series.
As an Armenian I feel obligated to watch his movies but I've only watched Ararat (2002)
I like his Sonic Youth video a lot.
He did some other clips for fairly well known artists, but I'm a big fan of this track in particular.
letterboxd.com
done a top 50 movies list for the 2000s, how many of them have (You) watched?
It mogs Amour by a mile
Artists denying influences is so common that it should be irrelevant by now, they are too petty to admit it because most of them want to be perceived as creative, original geniuses (secretly, however)
Controversially, watching celebrated and influential aurhors only for pure curiosity is what I do. You got to know them! And Kern is interesting if only for his influence and scene. You got to have that knowledge.
the sight and sound poll is based on how many people vote for the same movie
literally everyone on it doesn't understand the concept and picks at least 5 movies that nobody else is ever going to vote for
impressive
bfi.org.uk
this idiot managed to vote for zero films, for example
we have a Harry Palmer at home
What's next for Canadian Screen Award nominated zoomer actress Amanda Fix?
No one cared who I was until I put on the mask
Isnt that pic on a sonic youth album?
It's not a bad list per se but
obvious Welles bias
Chinatown as the 13th best film even though Polanski made better joints than that one
TV series listed as if they were films
I think it's the same model, -maybe the same photoshoot as Sister by them-, though I don't remember for sure if the booklet had that pic included in it.
I meant EVOL, not Sister, btw
Berlin > Ipcress > Brain
Riso amaro is a good film, I don't think it could make it to the top though.
Lung Leg's prettier than Lydia
Serana mogs Lydia though
Riso is too boring man... some of those neorealist joints really needed some explosions and cinematography. My 2 cents.
She's based though, this paragraph about Lars is very interesting; he's really about that duality. Nightime of the soul filmmaker.
I think Lars is a genius, understated, and misunderstood – he is messiah of the other world, he understands the numinous, both light and dark. His work – if ever five DVDs were to be chosen and sent to space to another world, one of his should be included. He understands the night time in us all, the darkness we harbour and in that the softness and the truth. You can tell he's a warlock with words and can conjure the most unforgettable performances and scenes that will have ever be born on this planet.
I could only dream of casting scenes like that wedding scene with Skarsgård and Watson – what raw ugly, honest human beauty.
she's a generic arthoe who wouldn't even be lars' muse
Best Sonic Youth album
I don't like this thread.
Nope, Sister mogs.
Just give me a generic arthouse to talk cinema with, thank you.
I actually lost some respect for Noé
Why did you have any in the first place.
