If Bullseye faced literally any other MCU hero then he would be mincemeat, what makes him so effective as a villain is that he has the highest onscreen kill count in the franchise, three of which were major characters in the show. Almost every time he appears, someone is going to die.

It's why Bullseye works so well as a villain (otherwise, it's basically just some Hawekeye/Green Arrow shit), a really simple skill that is actually fucking broken and deadly as a power. Since he is just a hitman, most people don't know him, the spotlight isn't on him which make him even more effective. And the most important thing: he can actually kill people, even important ones.

Dario Scardapane has said that season two will end with Matt and Fisk in a place that would be inconceivable to show-only viewers but familiar to those who've read deep enough in the comics, which makes me think season two's story will be about Matt usurping Fisk's criminal enterprise and becoming the new Kingpin, cribbing from Shadowlands and the Bendis run in the comics.

Makes sense as the only interesting and new direction they could go as of now since his season two outfit is his Shadowlands costume from the comic and it doesn't seem like they're bringing back any of the other Defenders yet.

Vanessa was interested in and loved Fisk because he was a dangerous crime lord in the first place, if he suddenly left her and came back seemingly reformed then that would obviously be a huge turn off for her. That's why she finally reconciled with Fisk when she found out he had actually been keeping and torturing her lover in a rape dungeon.
